Background and activities Drug Free Youth Association

The DYFA is founded in 2001 and strives to:

1. Create awareness and change the behavior of the youngsters by education them about drugs

2. Help and give out positive values to the youngsters by focusing on doing something for a good cause.

The DYFA believes that behavioral change is achieved by showing them that it is cool tonot use drugs and being a good person instead of scaring them of theconsequences. Inside the organization theyhave several music bands which they use as trainers for the workshops they deliver. Theybelieve that by singing and presenting thekids will connect the coolness of the band with the relevant topics. The DYFA aims toachieve this via three type of activities:

1. Workshops at high schools• A program for youngsters between 13 till

17 years old. • The first day (3 hours) will have a

presentation about drugs, about the organization, will give them assignment related to finding a good cause

• The second day (3 hours one week later) will consist of a recap and will give the children the opportunity to give a presentation about the causes the found

• Every month delivered to 100 kids

2. Three days camp• A program for youngsters between 17 till

25 years old. • They will have a presentation about

drugs, about the organization, will give them assignment related to finding a good cause and really making a change for the good cause

• After one week there will be a recap andeach group has to present their change via a movie

• After the camp, students are stimulated to keep doing this and we will monitor them

• In each of the 11 states we deliver thecamp to 100 students

3. Concert (drugs free)• Once a year, the DFYA will organize a

concert where their music bands will play• It should show people how they can have

fun without drugs

Two EPs will work together on the following activities: 1. Fundraising related activities• DFYA aims for fundraising specifically via

the website www.simplygiving.com. The EPs will manage the account where they promote project and keep in touch with potential sponsors

• The EPs should promote the projects and the opportunities for sponsoring on via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

• The EPs should approach potential sponsors via sending e-mails and calling

• The EPs will assist during the meetings with potential sponsors and acts as a brainstorm partner and secretary (1 afternoon/week)

Timeline of the project

• The project takes place from 11 July until 5 September 2016.

• The project duration is 8 weeks • The EPs is required to work from 10

AM till 6 PM.• Saturday and Sunday, the EPs will

have days off.

Overview area

The NGO is located in an urban area.Accommodation is located at theworking place. There are restaurantsand food stalls within walking distance,10 to 15 minutes.

The nearest shopping mall is Publika, just 15 minutes away (car). KLCC Twin Towers is about 30 minutes away by car.

Activities for preparation, development, and fun

Incoming Preparation Seminar: AIESEC will make sure EPs will have a better understanding about the project and life in Kuala Lumpur

One Day City TourOne day city tour for EPs to explore and embrace the Malaysian culture

Global Village: It serve as a platform for EPs to showcase their country and culture to locals

Farewell:A space will be created where EPs are able to share their exchange experiences. EPs will be given certificate and goodies bag
