Catalyst chemical vapour deposition (CVD) method is the most promising way to produce graphene at low-cost. The objective of this research is to grow graphene nanoplatelets from waste oil precursor by employing catalytic CVD. This project focuses on solution-processed catalyst, and the usage of waste oil precursor. The ultimate concern is to understand the fundamental of the decomposition of carbon atoms from the hydrocarbon linkage in the waste, interaction with catalyst, and thus the formation of graphene nanoplatelets. Also, the characterization of catalyst and as-grown graphene will be performed. Fundamental approach on catalyst activity and CVD parameter will be conducted in order to achieve suitable graphene structures.

Abstract; Realization of graphene-based products has limitations such as extremely high cost and the presence of impurities which occurred during growth process.
