ABSTRAK

Tujuan kajian ini ialah untuk mengenalpasti pengaruh keatas penggunaan pusatsumber sekolah di kalangan guru-guru yang mengajar di tingkatan satu hinggatingkatan tiga di sekolah-sekolah gred A di daerah Baling, Kedah. Sebanyak limabuah sekolah terlibat dalam kajian ini.

Adalah dihipotesiskan bahawa pengamatan guru mengenai penggunaan pusat sumbersekolah, halangan penggunaan pusat sumber dan kekerapan penggunaan pusatsumbcr mempunyai perkaitan yang signifikan dcngan faktor jantina, kelulusanakademik, pcngalaman mengajar dan kursus media yang dihadiri.

Kajian ini dijalankan dengan menggunakan sampel guru yang dipilih mengajartingkatan satu hin.gga tiga di sekolah menengah gred A yang berjumlah 157 orang.Bilangan soal seltdtk yang disempumakan dan dapat digunakan aialah 110 (kadarpemulangannya ialah 70 peratus).

Perkaitan antara faktor jantina dan kelulusan akademik dengan pengamatan ,halangan dan kekerapan penggunaan pusat sumber oleh guru diuji denganmenggunakan Ujian-t. Sementara perkaitan antara faktor pengalaman mengajar dankursus media yang dihadiri dengan pengamatan, halangan dan kekerapanpenggunaan pusat sumber diuji menggunakan kaedah Korelasi-Momen Pearson.Keputusan -~keputusan kajian ini menunjukkan:

1) kadar penggunaan perkhidmatan Pusat Sumber Sekolah yang sangat rendah disekolah-sekolah menengah,

2) majoriti guru mempunyai pengamatan yang positif terhadap penggunaan PusatSumber Sekolah dalam proses penga.jaran dan pembelajaran

3) majoriti guru mengamati halangan yang besar dalam penggunaan perkhidmatanPusat Sumber Sekolah

4) tiada perbezaan yang signifikan antara faktor jantina guru dengan penggunaanPusat Sumber Sekolah

5) tiada perbezaan yang signifikan antara faktor kelulusan akademik denganpenggunaan Pusat Sumber Sekolah

6) Pengalaman mengajar mempunyai pengaruh terhadap pengamatan guru ke ataspenggunaan Pusat Sumber Sekolah

7) Kursus media yang dihadiri oleh guru tidak mempengaruhi penggunaanperkhidmatan Pusat Sumber Sekolah.

Halangan-halangan dalam penggunaan perkhidmatan Pusat Sumber yang diamatiguru berpunca daripada: kelengkapan fizikal yang kurang memuaskan, kelemahanpengurusan dan pengendalian sumber media, dan kekurangan latihan.

Bagi meningkatan penggunaan perkhidmatan Pusat Sumber Sekolah di kalangan paraguru, adalah dicadangkan supaya langkah-langkah proaktif diambil bagimengurangkan halangan-halangan ini.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to identify the intluence of School Resource Centreusage among teachers teaching form one to form three grade A secondary schools inBaling District of Kedah. Five secondary schools involved in this research.

It was hypothesized that teachers’ perceived usefulness of School Resource Centre ,deterrents and frequency of use of’ School Resource Ccntre were related with gender,academic qualifications, teaching experience and media courses attented by teachers.

The research was conducted with a sample of 157 teachers teaching form one to formthree from five grade A secondary schools in Baling district of Kedah. The requireddata were collected through the use of Questionnaires. A total of 157 questionnaireswere distributed to the subjects. The number of questionnaires returned and usablewere 1 IO (return rate of 70 percent).

The relationships between the teachers’ perceived usefulness of School ResourceCentre as well as deterrents to the use of School Resource Centre and the frequencyof using School Resouce Centre with gender and academic qualifications were testedby the method of t-Test. Whereas the relationship between the teaching experienceand media courses attended by teachers with the usage of School Resource Centrewere tested by the method of Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient.The results showed that:

I ) the rate of use of School Resource Centre by secondary school teachers werevery low,

2) majority of teachers had a positive perception of the usefulness of SchoolResource Centre in teaching and learning process,

3) majority of the teachers perceived great deterrents to the use of School ResourceCentre,

4) there was no significant relationship between gender and usage of SchoolResource Ccntre,

5) there was no significant relationship between academic qualitications with theusage of School Resource Centre,

6) there was a relationship between teaching experience with teacher perceptiontowards the usage of School Resource Centre,

7) media courses attended by teachers did not intluenced them to the use of SchoolResource Centre.

The major deterrents to the use of School Resource Centre by teachers could beidentified as:

I ) inadequate physical set up,2) weaknesses in the management and organisation of media resources, and3) lack oftraining.

In order to foster the use of School Resource Centre, it was suggested that positivesteps be taken to reduce these constraints.
