Eksport, Pelaburan Swasta Lonjak Prestasi Ekonomi
Prestasi eksport memberangsangkan terutama dalam sektor elektrik dan elektronik (E&E) memacu pertumbuhan ekonomi negara pada suku keempat tahun lalu.
Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (MITI), Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, berkata jumlah eksport positif pada bulan November hingga Disember menyaksikan ekonomi negara berkembang pada kadar 4.5 peratus pada suku keempat 2016 mengatasi jangkaan penganalisis.
Katanya, pelaburan swasta yang memberangsangkan pada suku terakhir tahun lalu juga menyumbang kepada Keluaran Dalam Negara Kasar (KDNK) yang memuaskan.
“Ini (jumlah eksport dan pelaburan swasta) adalah petanda baik kepada ekonomi negara. Kita mengharapkan keadaan ini akan berterusan pada tahun ini,” katanya kepada media selepas majlis sambutan Tahun Baru Cina MITI dan agensinya bersama sektor swasta di sini, sebentar tadi.
Yang turut hadir, Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri II, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan dan Timbalan Menteri MITI, Datuk Ahmad Maslan dan Datuk Chua Tee Yong.
Mustapa berkata, bagi memastikan prestasi positif itu berterusan, MITI akan melaksanakan pelbagai langkah termasuk mengadakan pertemuan bersama tokoh pelabur tempatan untuk meningkatkan jumlah pelaburan domestik tahun ini.
“Tahun ini, kita akan lebih agresif untuk menarik sokongan pelabur tempatan,” katanya.
Hari ini, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) mengumumkan ekonomi Malaysia berkembang pada kadar 4.5 peratus pada suku keempat dan 4.2 peratus bagi 2016.
