     Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow. 

    Last Sunday was my school’s sports day. The teachers and pupils were very busy

    sending invitation cards and buying presents. Flag poles were painted and white lineswere drawn for the track events.

    The teachers came to school very early that morning. The teachers and pupils arranged

    the chairs on the field and decorated the tents with coloured papers and banners.

    At about two o’clock in the afternoon, all the pupils who were taking part in the sports

    marched round the field in their colourful T-shirts representing their various houses.

    After a short speech by the Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), the

    school sports began. Meanwhile, the guests, parents and others were escorted to their

    seats in the tent.

    Some of the field events were 100 metres, 200 metres and relays. At about 4.30 p.m.there was a break. All the guests were served tea and cakes. The school’s Cultural Club

    entertained the guests with traditional dances.

    After about twenty minutes, the sports continued until about 6 p.m. At the end of all the

    events, the pupils gathered to see the winners receiving their prizes from the District

    Education Officer. Before the pupils left, the headmaster announced the following day a

    holiday. There were shouts and thunderous clapping from the pupils.
