TheProphet(pbuh)hassaid:

Onewhoprotectsmyfortyahadith*,sothatpeoplemaybenefitfromthem,willbeamongst

thoseofwisdomandlearningonthedayof

Resurrection.

*Ahadithisareportofthesayingsoractionsof

ProphetMuhammad(pbuh).

1. Whenhespokehewouldsmile.2. Hewouldalwayssitinacirclewithhis

companions.

3. Heusedtomendhisshoes,patchhisclothes,andgrindthewheat.

4. Hishandswerelikethoseofaperfumeseller,alwayswithabeautifulfragrance.

Heusedtoloveperfume.5. Hewouldalwayswearhisringsonhis

righthand.

6. Healwayssatfacingqiblaespeciallywhenhewenttothemosque.

7. Whenheenteredthemosquehewouldsitatthefirstavailablespace.

8. Hewoulddrinkwaterinsipsandnotgulpitdownalltogether.

deatheatingwithslavesontheground,ridingadonkeywithoutasaddle,milking

goatswithmyhands,wearingcoarse

clothesandgreetingchildren.

23.Nohonourisnoblerthanhumilityandkindness.

24.HumanbeingsfromAdamtothisdayareliketheteethofacomb,thereisno

superiorityforanAraboveranonArab,

norforonecolouroveranotherexcept

withGodawareness.25.Hewasalwaysfirsttogreetothers.26.ImamAli(AS)InthepastIhadabrother

inGod.Theinsignificanceoftheworldin

hiseyesmadehimgreatinmyeyes.He

wasnotruledbyhisstomach.Heusedto

keepsilentmostofthetimeyetwhen

hespokehesilencedallspeakersand

quenchedthethirstofallquestioners.He

wasmoreeagertolistenthantospeak.Hewasconsideredweak,yetinan

emergencyhewasalionoftheforest.He

wouldnotadvanceanargumentunlessit

wasdecisive,andhewouldnotcensure

anyoneforwhatcouldbeexcuseduntilhe

hadheardtheexcuse.Hewouldsaywhat

hewoulddoandnotsaywhathewould

notdo.Whentwothingscametohim,he

wouldseewhichwasmoreemotionally

desirableandthendothecontrary.

27.Hespokeinshort,meaningfulsentencesandwasneverheardtointerrupt

anybody'sspeech.

28.Heneverspokewithasadorfrownedface.

29.ThecharacterofRasulullah(SAW)wastheQuran.

30.TheonewhorecitestheQuranandtheonewholistenshaveanequalshareof

thereward.31.Weforgivethosewhowrongusandgive

thosewhodepriveus.

32.HetravelledonThursdays.

QuranbeginningwithSabbaha.

39.WhenhecongratulatedsomeonehesaidBaarakallahulakumwabaarakallahu

alaykumMayAllahblessyouandkeep

youblessed.40.Whenhegavecondolenceshewouldsay:

AjarakumullahuwarahimakumMay

Allahrecompenseyouandhavemercyon

you.

HewasborninMakkaonthe29thofAugust,570

CE,17RabiulAwwal(Friday),andwhenhedied

attheageof63in622CE(11AH)thewholeof

theArabianPeninsulahadchangedtotheworship

of One God; from tribal quarrels and wars to

nationalsolidarity;fromlawlessnesstodisciplinedliving; from moral bankruptcy to the highest

standardsofmoralexcellence.Humanhistoryhas

neverknownsuchacompletetransformationofa

peopleoraplacebeforeorsince.

He was born an orphan but belonged to the

noblest of the Arabian tribes, his genealogy

accepted as themost righteous, yethe said No

honourisnoblerthanhumilityandkindnessHis opponents created enmity with him

wrongedhim,spokeillofhim,harassedhim,yet

he would say Oblige your brother by warning

them,correctthembyshowingfavours.

When it came to bravery there was no parallel.

His most perfect student and successor, Ali

(pbuh) would say When we used to meet theenemies and battle was at its peak, we would

stand behind Muhammad. When our hearts

wavered, he was always closest to the enemy.

During battles he instructed his people never to

start war and to fight only when they were

attacked first. If the enemy lost his orders were

not to chase the fleeing soldiers he would

alwaystryandtalktotheenemyhopingthattheir

humanity would shine through and the fighting

averted.

He emancipated women, teaching that both

genderswerecreatedforthesamepurpose;the

recognition of their Creator and therefore the

realisationoftheirfullpotentialashumanbeings,

buthavebeengivendifferenttoolswithwhichto

fulfil their common goal. Indeed, their

physiological, emotional, and psychological

differencesarearesultoftheirdivergentspiritual

mandate When his daughter Fatima (pbuh) used

to enter the room he would stand for her in

respect.

They tried tobribe him, intimidate him,threaten

him with death and destruction; but he stood

firm; not for a moment losing momentum in

pursuing his mission to ensure that in helpingotherstorecognisetheunityoftheoneGodthe

human being would realise his/her full potential

physically,emotionally,mentallyandspiritually.

Thispersonalitypreachedareligion,foundeda

state,builtanation,laiddownamoralcode,

initiatedsocialandpoliticalreforms,established

adynamicandpowerfulsocietytopractiseand

representhisteachings,andchangedtheworlds

ofhumanthoughtandactionforalltime.
