Membership Growth: Registration of New Leos

14th January 2016 •  With the start of the co-curriculum activities in 2016, 17 students

were interested and have registered to be a member of our Leo Club. Thus, our club’s membership increased to 55 members. Increments in club members have been updated in the membership report.

Major fund-raising project: The Selling of Mandarin Oranges and Red Couplet in

conjunction with Chinese New Year

18th January – 5th February 2016

•  As Chinese New Year is

around the corner, we took this opportunity to sell red couplets and mandarin oranges to lions, teachers, school staffs, students, parents and the community. The organizing chairperson for the red couplets sale is Leo Yap Lee Lee and the organizing chairperson for the orang sales is Leo Esther. This project is held to raise fund for our club for upcoming activities and projects.

Maintenance of Leo Garden 21st January 2016

•  Leos went to the Leo Garden together with the faculty advisors. We watered the family trees and put the fertilizer so that the trees can grow healthily. Leos worked together to keep our garden in pristine condition as a symbol of our club’s unity and fruitfulness.

Visit and Donation to Miri Old Folks Home 31st January 2016

•  A total of 6 Leos and 2 faculty advisors from KTDTHB’s Leo Club

went to Miri Old Folk’s Home. This project was organised by Leo Joyce Chin from Leo Club of SMK St. Columba and Lion Regina Teng from Lions Club of Miri Central. This project involved the Lions from Lions Club of Miri Mandarin, Lions Club of Miri Host, Lions Club of Miri Central, Lions Club of Miri Seahorse and Lions Club of Batu Niah. This project also included eight Leo Clubs, which were Leo Club of Kolej TDTHB, Leo Club of Riam Road Secondary School, Leo Club of SM Pei Min, Leo Club of SMK St. Columba, Leo Club of SMK Baru Miri, Leo Club of SMK Chung Hua, Leo Club of Riam Institute and Technology and Leo Club of Curtin University. During the project, the Lions and Leos worked together to clean and decorate the compound. The Lions also gave angpows and daily needs to the 27 elderly people in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Celebration.

Visit to Miri Methodist Children’s Home

31st January 2016 •  This project involved all the Lions from Lions Club of Miri

Mandarin, Lions Club of Miri Host, Lions Club of Miri Central, Lions Club of Miri Seahorse and Lions Club of Batu Niah. This project also included eight Leo Clubs, which were Leo Club of Kolej TDTHB, Leo Club of Riam Road Secondary School, Leo Club of SM Pei Min, Leo Club of SMK St. Columba, Leo Club of SMK Baru Miri, Leo Club of SMK Chung Hua, Leo Club of Riam Institute and Technology and Leo Club of Curtin University. The Lions and Leos distributed food and goodies bags to the 18 children staying there. This project was sponsored by the Lions Club of Miri Host’s Past President, Lion John Ling.

Discussion of Leo Camp’s Activities

2nd February 2016

•  All Form 5 Leos of Leo Club of KTDTHB and 3 faculty advisors gather to do discussion regarding the progression of upcoming Leo Camp activities. Tasks are divided and given to all Form 5 Leos by the organising chairperson, Leo Nazia Shukri. The discussion was supervised by 2 Faculty advisors to ensure the activities suggested by the committee members were appropriate for the Leo Camp.

On-going project: Long-term Recycling Project

4th February 2016

•  This project is aimed to encourage students, teachers and staffs of Kolej TDTH Bujang to recycle the recyclable items as habit in their daily life to save the environment. After a few months of this recycling project, which is on going, we received great support from school community and manage to collect a lot of recyclable items such as papers, books and boxes. Leos worked together to clean the recycle area to provide more spaces for more upcoming recyclable items.

Chinese New Year Fellowship Gathering: Visit to Faculty Advisor’s House

•  3 of our Leos went to visit our past Faculty Advisor, Madam Chang Siaw Hui’s house to celebrate Chinese New Year together.

Annual Project: Leo Camp cum Orientation and Leadership Seminar 2016

20th February 2016 •  This is one of our club’s annual activities to guide the members to

become great Leos. The theme of this camp was “Leos of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow”. This camp was aimed to expose Leos, especially new Leos about Lions Club and Leo Club, acts as a medium for Leos to inculcate and sharpen leadership skills and to stimulate and strengthen the bond between Leos of different races. Leos went to the Leo Garden for Leo Garden maintenance to keep the garden in pristine conditions a symbol of our club’s unity and fruitfulness. The camp was officiated by the Senior Assistant of KTDTHB Mr. Douglas James and the Vice President of Lions Club of Miri Host Choo Soo Yuen. After that, the Leos had fun in the telematch handled by all the Form 5 Leos. The Orientation and Leadership Seminar was conducted by the 1st Vice District Governor Lion Eve Wong Sau Yin to expose Leos, especially new Leos about the Lions Club and Leo Club and to inculcate and sharpen Leos’ leadership skills. The camp was ended with fellowship teatime with all the Leos and the faculty advisors.

Participation in School’s Chinese New Year Celebration

22nd February 2016

•  In conjunction with Chinese New Year, our school held a celebration (Rimup CNY) where teachers, staffs and students gathered together in the school’s hall to witness this prestigious celebration. There were many activities held throughout the month and Leo Yap Lee Lee volunteered to be the emcee for this function. This celebration was held to enlighten the spirit of Chinese New Year and introduce Chinese cultures.

Recycling Project: Selling of Recyclable Items

25th February 2016

•  Leos worked together to clean the recycle area to provide more spaces for more upcoming recyclable items. After the Leos sorted out the recyclables, the Leos created a human-chain to pass all the sorted recyclables to the Recycling Centre’s van to be brought to the recycling centre and recycled. Through this project our Leo Club managed to earn RM71.10 from all the recyclables.

Lions Club of Miri Host Annual General Meeting

27th February 2016

•  At night, the three key officers attended the dinner after the annual general meeting to build good rapport with the Lions and Leos from the other clubs. During the dinner, the Treasurer of our Leo Club, Leo Nazia, took part in the Talent Show held that night and won Second place in the competition. Both the President and the Treasurer of our Leo Club also won in the Lucky Draw competition.
