Additional Supplementary Regulations

1. Overview of Event

The Morac Adventure Park Sodi World Series (SWS) Endurance Race 2019 is an international ranking race event that is held at Morac Adventure Park karting circuit in Langkawi. All teams participating in the Morac Adventure Park Sodi World Series (SWS) Endurance Races 2019 automatically gain a worldwide ranking in the SWS platform. This race is the start of Morac Adventure Park’s endurance race format. This event is a private event run on a commercial ‘arrive and drive’ basis and open to entry by individuals and corporate groups using leisure karts supplied by the Morac Adventure Park.

2. Description of Event A Three Hour Endurance event comprising of driving both in daylight and at night. Each team shall consist of three or four drivers who shall take turns driving with pit stops for driver changes. The price per team includes the usage of our in-house go-karts, SODI SR4, full tank of fuel for the competition and 1 brand new set of tyres to be used through out the competition. All damages will be charged based upon the damage chart stated in 21. Alcohol and any illegal substance use is STRICTLY PROHIBITED during the event.

2.1 Driver Regulation

All drivers have to be above 150 cm. All drivers below the age of 18 years, have to get a signed waiver certificate by a parent or guardian to be allowed to compete. All drivers with medical conditions have to inform the track doctor prior to starting the race. After an examination, it is on sole discretion of the doctor to give the driver an approval to race. No compensation or monetary reimbursement will be given to the registered participant if deemed unfit to drive.

3. Event Date 14th December 2019

*Morac Adventure Park reserves the right to change the date.

4. Status of Event

As this is a leisure karting event, it is organized and run without the need for motor sports sanctioning although the CIK-FIA LEISURE KARTING GUIDELINES are followed closely.

Entries will only be valid after: (a) The official entry form with all the drivers’ details are submitted to Morac

Adventure Park fully completed. (b) All drivers MUST get the SWS DIN to be eligible for racing. (c) Copy of passport and photograph (original or JPEG scan) of all competitors to

be provided to Morac Adventure Park, one week before the event. (d) A down payment of 50% has to be paid to Morac Adventure Park on a first

come first served basis. Until this down payment is received, the team entry is not confirmed. If the 100% payment is not received before the event, the entry will be rejected.

(e) The 50% balance of the entry fee is to be paid at least two days prior to the race event entered.

6.2 Entry Fees

3-hours Endurance Race - RM 4,000.00 per team Entry fee includes the following: (a) Sodi leisure kart fully equipped (b) Four new tyres supplied by the Organiser.

These tyres will be fitted on the kart before Official Practice and will be used for Qualifying and the race itself. There will be no replacement of tyres for wear except due to damage during Practice which must be paid for by the team.

(c) Fuel for the duration of the event. There will be no fuel stop.

6.3 Entry Cancellation Should an entry be cancelled prior to three weeks in advance of an event then a full refund of the entry fee submitted will be made, less an administration fee of RM 1,000/- In case of any cancellation of entry within three weeks of the event, the organizers will be entitled to retain the 50% down payment. Should, for whatever reason, Morac Adventure Park is forced to cancel an event then the event will be rescheduled and all entries received for it will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled event.

8. Safety Equipment

Any form of motor racing is dangerous and as a minimum the following safety equipment must be worn by all competitors. It will be sole right of the Organizers to determine whether any equipment used by a driver is safe and the driver is obligated to comply with any request to change. Refusal to do so will mean exclusion from the event. (a) Clothing that fully covers the arms and legs. Cotton overalls or CIK approved race

suits are preferred. (b) A pair of racing gloves that fully enclose all fingers are recommended. (c) A full-face helmet that is acceptable to be used on public roads. Helmets must have a visor and “whirly” visors are acceptable for rain. (d) Shoes are compulsory. Slippers, sandals or half covered slip ons are prohibited. (e) A neck support collar is ‘advisable’. (f) A rib protector is ‘advisable’.

9. Kart Damage or Failure

In case of an incident or mechanical failure on the track the driver must make his way safely to the pits with the kart where the Morac Technical crew will endeavor to rectify the problem to the best of their ability. If, however the problem cannot be rectified the driver may opt to continue racing or withdraw. There will be no replacement of kart or any major components. There will be no recovery of any karts broken down on the circuit during the race. No compensation in time, laps or race fees will be given to teams who experience mechanical failure.

10. Refueling All karts will be refuelled by the Organizers prior to the start of the event. All fuel tanks will be filled to the same capacity. There will be no refuelling stop during the whole event.

11. Pit Lane Behavior

Teams coming into the Pit Lane for a driver change and drive-through penalty, shall do it without deliberately stopping between the driver change and the kart change areas. There will be no overtaking or holding up of other teams/karts in the pit lane.




12. Teams & Drivers (a) Two (2) Pro drivers will be allowed per team. (A Pro driver is one who has a valid kart or car Competition license. If there are more than two Pro drivers in a team, a handicap penalty of 3 laps will be deducted from the final result. A driver may only drive for one team during the event even if a team or sponsor enters multiple teams.

Penalty: Exclusion from event (b) Every Driver from each Team must take part in the Official Practice, and complete at

least one Timed Lap. A Timed lap consists of an Out-lap, a Flying Lap(s) and an In-lap. Penalty: Start from back of the grid

(c) Teams will not be permitted to employ, hire, or have a member of their team anyone who has previously worked at Morac Adventure Park or has officiated in any Morac Adventure Park events within the last 5 years, either officially or unofficially, to ensure fair play to all other teams. Penalty: Exclusion

13. Driver Stint Limitations & Pit Stops

(a) Maximum Driver Stint Time:

Driving stints will be limited to 30 minutes as the Maximum Driver Stint Time. A driver can take back to back stints if the total time of the stints are within this time.

(b) Drivers Minimum Rest Time: Once a driver change takes place the driver coming out may undertake a second or subsequent stint, but not until the he has had his minimum rest time. Minimum rest time between stints shall be 15 minutes. Please note that the minimum pit time counts towards the driver’s stint time.

(c) Team Drivers Minimum Driving Time: Minimum Drive Time per driver for each stint shall be 15 minutes.

(d) Driver Change & Pit Stops: Pit stop duration will be timed between the 2 cones at PIT-IN and the 2 cones marking at the end of the PIT-EXIT. It will be the responsibility of each team to monitor their pit stop time. However, the official Pit Stop Duration will be the timing done by the official timekeepers.

All driver changes must be done in the Driver Change Zone outside the reception area of the main building. Drivers are required to keep their Driver ID on them at all times and show it at Driver Login and Logout, without their helmet on, for driver verification. There will be a time check at each login and logout and random weight check. In case of an unexpected technical stop, the driver is expected to drive at walking speed in the pit road, with a team member walking in front of the kart. Teams will be allowed to change driver in the Driver Change Zone before proceeding to the Mechanical Pits. All mechanical work will be done by Morac crew in the designated mechanical pit area.




It is forbidden for teams to overtake in the pit lane but should a team need to wait at the PIT EXIT to reach the minimum pit time they should pull to the left side of the pit lane before the PIT EXIT and allow other karts to pass.

(e) Speed in Pit Lane: All karts driving between the Pit Entry and Pit Exit cones must do so at walking speed. Karts traveling above walking speed will be penalised.

(f) Pit Lane Closure in the first and last 15 minutes of race: The Pit lane will be closed except for technical problems or penalties for the first and last 15 minutes of the race. This means driver-changes and pit stops must be done before the last 15 minutes of the race and CANNOT be done in the last 15 minutes of the race.

(g) Pit Signals: Only one person is permitted to stand at the pit wall to give signals. After giving the signal to the driver he is to return to the reception area.

14. Start Procedure

The start of the race will be a Le Mans start. All teams are to adhere to the following race start procedure: (i) When all karts are in formation all kart engines will be started by Morac Adventure Park Pit Crew. No Team Members are permitted on track to hold the kart or push. (ii) Karts will be lined up in a row on the track in front of the pit wall at an angle and the

drivers starting the race will stand on the opposite of the track facing their karts. (iii) On the waving of the “Start Flag” the drivers will run to their karts and be seated but

must not start accelerating before they are fully seated within the seat with their back in contact with the rear of the seat and both hands on the steering wheel.

(iv) No contact/bumping will be allowed at any time during the start and “jockeying” for position and will incur a penalty for “Dangerous Driving”. 15. Finish

At the end of three hours as shown on the track display, the Chequered Flag will be waved to the race leader by laps as he crosses the Finish Line and will be held stationery until the last driver completes the lap he is on. To be classified as a Finisher, a kart must cross the Finish Line under its own power with the driver seated in the normal driving position, not more than two minutes after the fall of the Chequered Flag. As soon as the Chequered Flag has been shown to a driver at the end of the race, he must proceed directly, using only the authorised route, to the Parc Ferme.

16. Flags

The following flag signals will be used and will be strictly enforced.

(a) Stationary Yellow flag:

A stationary yellow flag will be before an incident and any driver not slowing for a yellow flag or overtaking under a yellow flag will receive a penalty for causing




unnecessary danger to others. A Green flag will be shown at the next post after the incident.

(b) Waved Yellow: In case of any incident on the track where a kart is stationary and / or the track is blocked with debris or fluids, a waved yellow flag will be displayed before the incident. All karts must reduce speed dramatically and overtaking will not be allowed. Not reducing speed are causing an accident under these conditions will incur a severe penalty.

Racing speeds can only resume when the Green flag is displayed after the incident. Pit Entry will remain open when Yellow flags are shown.

(c) Rain Procedures: In the event of rain, the Clerk of the Course will decide that on whether the race to continue or to be Red flagged.

(d) Red Flag Procedure: This is to indicate that the race has been SUSPENDED and all racing must stop. Once the Red Flag is displayed all karts shall proceed at walking pace to the pit lane, lining up behind one another in a single file on the right-hand side of the pit lane. In some cases, where there might be an incident, flood or obstruction on the main straight or corners leading onto the main straight, drivers must obey the instructions of the officials and stop where directed. Once stopped, Drivers shall leave the ballast weight in the kart, remove their DRIVER ID badge and place it in the kart seat. The drivers may then return to the pits and await instructions. NOBODY, except race officials, are allowed on the track or near the karts. Once the incident or rain conditions have been cleared/eased, karts will be arranged in single file in order as per official timing count back of 1 lap prior to the Red Flag being shown. A countdown to resume the race will be announced and racing will start again only when the Green flag is shown to the leading kart.

(e) Black and White Double Diagonal It warns the driver of unsportsmanlike conduct. Flag is used only once per

competitor per race. (f) Black Flag:

Shown motionless with a signalling board bearing a kart number at the Start / Finish line, on instructions from the Clerk of the Course. It instructs the driver to stop at the pits on the next lap and report immediately to the Clerk of the Course. This flag usually follows the Diagonal Black and White flag for a repeat offence. It usually means disqualification from the race.

(g) Chequered Flag: End of Race. Slow down and return to the Pits.

17. Driver Behaviour

The team manager will be responsible for the behaviour of all his team, including drivers and any other associated personnel. Should there be a breach of the safety rules or any unsporting behaviour on the race track, in the pits or in the paddock at any time, the team concerned will be penalised at the absolute discretion of the organisers. The penalties at the organisers disposal will include time penalties and the suspension of the right of individual drivers or even complete teams to participate in the event or the right to participate in any other events promoted by the organizers in the future.




Participants are reminded that by the very nature of this event, there will be speed differentials on the track and that patience and respect for their fellow competitors will be required. This is an endurance event and short-term advantage is therefore of limited benefit.

18. Drivers Weight

All drivers will be weighed at the beginning of the event with racing gear, this includes the racing suit, boots and helmet. If a driver does not report for weigh in, he will not be permitted to drive.

19. Kart Ballast

(i) 4 Driver Team Gross minimum weight for all 4 drivers - 280 kg. Ballast for every 10 kg short will be 2.5 kg.

(ii) 3 Driver Team Gross minimum weight for all 3 drivers - 210 kg. Ballast for every 10 kg short will be 3.0 kg.

The weight denominations are Blue 1 x 10 kgs, Red 1 x 5 kgs, whilst the White and Yellow 1 x 2.5 kgs. The team is responsible for looking after and distributing the weights according to the driver weight and stints, and teams cannot take the weights back to the pit garages. 20. Prizes

At the end of the event and when the final results are announced prizes will be distributed to the teams as follows: Winner RM 10,000 1st Runner up RM 5,000 2nd Runner up RM 3,000 21. Damages

23. Organizers Rights

In order to continuously improve the organization of the SWS; SODIKART and Morac Adventure Park reserves the right to change without notice these SWS & MORAC ADVENTURE PARK REGULATIONS at any time. The corrected or amended Regulation will then be immediately posted on the SWS AND Morac Adventure Park websites and social channels and it is the responsibility of competitors to keep in touch with any changes.

24. Indemnity

Motor sports is dangerous. and despite the organizers taking all reasonable precautions and ensuring that there are adequate safety and medical facilities, Morac Adventure Park and SODIKART will not be held responsible for material or bodily harm that may be suffered by any drivers or their accompanying persons as part of their participation in Morac Adventure Park SWS 2019 race events held at Morac Adventure Park, Langkawi. Participants in SWS recognize and accept the risks associated with the practice of physical activity during racing and undertake to indemnify Morac Adventure Park and SODIKART against all claims or costs arising out of or participating at any event organized by Morac Adventure Park and SODIKART. All participants are required to sign indemnities accepting the inherent risks prior to their taking part in an event. By doing so they are signing an undertaking that they are not suffering from any medical condition, either permanent or temporary, which could affect prejudicially their normal control of the vehicle with regard to the speeds likely to be attained during the event. The pit garages and pit lane are strictly non-smoking areas. No person under the age of 18 years old will be allowed beyond the yellow line that marks the limit of the pit garages. Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Participants with long hair must ensure that it is fully enclosed by the crash helmet or secured in the race suit. Long hair trailing from bottom of the helmet will not be acceptable on the grounds of safety.

25. Protests

This is a leisure competition and NO protests will be entertained.
