Tetrabenazine/trihexyphenidyl

Decreased attention span and muscle cramps ina child: case report

A girl with dystonia started receiving trihexyphenidylwith symptomatic improvement. However, she developeda poor attention span over time, and the drug was gradullytapered and replaced with tetrabenazine. Duringtetrabenazine therapy, at age 10 years, she developedforearm cramps while writing. Tetrabenazine efficacy wassuboptimal and, when she was around 12 years old,tetrabenzine was replaced with levodopa/carbidopa withgood control of her dystonia.
