    RAG 121 SAINS PERSEKITARAN 1 (ENVIRONMENTALSCIENCE 1) SEMESTER 1 SIDANG 2009/2010

    SINOPSIS KURSUS

    1.0 Corak Kursus

    Kaedah pengajaran kursus ini merangkumi kuliah, tutorial, seminar dan amali atau kerja luar.Masa pertembungan rasmi ialah 3 jam seminggu selama 14 minggu akademik. Kerjakursusdalam bentuk ujian akan diadakan pada minggu ke 8, tugasan akan diperkenalkan padaminggu ke 9 dan kuiz akan diadakan pada minggu ke 16. Kursus ini akan dikendalikan olehProf. Madya Ar.Dr.Abdul Majid Ismail, Ar.Yeoh Oon Soon dan Ar.Mohd Najib Mohd Salleh.

    Method of teaching this course include lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical or outdoorworks. There are 3 formal contact hours per week for 14 academic weeks. Courseworks inthe form of short test will be held on the 8th week, assignment introduced on the 9th week, andquiz on the 16th week. The course will be conducted by Assoc.Prof. Ar.Dr.Abdul Majid Ismail,Ar.Yeoh Oon Soon and Ar.Mohd Najib Mohd Salleh.

    2.0 Matlamat

    Objektif kursus ini ialah untuk menguatkan keupayaan pelajar di dalam membuat ketentuanrekabentuk (design decision making) khususnya dalam aspek-aspek saintifik persekitaranalam bina dan semulajadi. Mempertingkat kesedaran pelajar terhadap isu-isu kelestariansumber alam semulajadi dalam pengurusan pembangunan fizikal yang memerlukan kaedahrekabentuk dan pendekatan baru yang menyeluruh termasuklah maklumat penting tentangbeberapa aspek Indeks Bangunan Hijau (GBI), Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar (EIA) danKemahiran Insaniah (KI).

    The objective of the course is to strengthen students ability in design decision makingespecially in the scientific aspect of man made (built) and natural environments. To increasestudents awareness on sustainable issues of natural resources in the management ofphysical development which require new holistic design methods and approaches includingsome important aspects of Green Building Index (GBI), Environmental Impact Assesment(EIA) and Kemahiran Insaniah (KI).

    3.0 Mata Pelajaran

    Kursus ini akan bermula dengan memahami persekitaran fizikal secara menyeluruh, menilaikeadaan dan kualiti persekitaran negara dan kesan negatif pembangunan yang tidakseimbang / lestari. Isu-isu persekitaran ini dihubungkaitkan pula dengan kefahamanterhadap keperluan rekabentuk berteraskan iklim atau ekologi khususnya untuk keadaaniklim tropika. Meneliti aspek-aspek kawalan alam sekitar bangunan atau iklim dalamanbangunan secara semulajadi atau pasif seumpama pengudaraan semulajadi, pencahayaansiang, rekabentuk peneduhan, alir haba, tenaga, akustik dan kaedah kawalan bisingan.

    The course begins by understanding physical environment in a holistic form, reviewing thecondition and the quality of the national physical environment and the negative effect ofunbalanced / unsustainable development. These environmental issues will be linked togetherwith the understanding of climatic or ecological building design especially in the tropicalsettings. Understanding the various aspect of buildings environmental or indoor climatic

    control through natural or passive means such as natural ventilation, daylighting, shadingdesign, heat flow, energy, acoustic and noise control.

    4.0 Penilaian
