Annual Eye Check Up for Kindergartens

On 9 January, we had an annual eye check up for the Kindergarteners in collaboration with HPB. The children were equipped with knowledge and

skills as they learned more about how to take care of their eye sight and participated in the screening test.

LITTLE SUNSHINE In Term 1, Infants were exposed to ’Teddy Bear Teddy Bear’ theme in line

with their special body. Educarers conducted creative activities that focused on the infants’ developmental milestone.

One of the activities that the infants were engaged in was the ’Oobleck’

sensorial activity where the infants were given opportunities to explore the oobleck texture using their hands and fingers. This activity will be able to

enhance their fine motor skills and at the same time promoting sensorial play for the infants under our care.

Another activity the infants were engaged in was the daily Music & Movement as they were exposed to Chinese New Year songs. Infants were given encouragement to follow dance movements by educarers

in promoting their gross motor skills in a fun way.

We had our first Chinese Cultural Music & Dance Exposed for 2019, The children were introduced to ribbon dance, fan dance, dragon dance and lion dance. As part of their learning journey, the children learned about the different types of Chinese musical percussions as they created props in preparation for their individual class performances during the Chinese New Year Celebration.

As a follow up to the children’s learning on Chinese Cultural Music & Dance EXPOSED, the teachers had planned a Mass Celebration for Chinese New Year for the infants and children at the centre on the 8 February 2019. The children were all beautifully dressed

up as they each performed a variation type of Chinese Dance. The Chinese Cultural Dance Performances by the children were as follows:

Other than the Chinese Cultural Dance performances by the children, the teacher had planned various games for the children to be engaged in as they learned more on Chinese traditions and customs such as ‘Peeling the Orange’ game,

Chinese calligraphy of Well Wishes, Find the Hongbao and many more. Teachers too planned the cookery session in line with Healthy Eating as they whipped out

their own orange jelly with their peers in the afternoon.

Infants too had a great Chinese New Year celebration as everyone was encouraged to dress up in Chinese traditional costume to school. Even the infants joined in the celebration as they watched the older children’s performance and playing games.

The toddlers were not only exposed to phonics, reading, numeracy, pretend play in their classrooms, these energetic toddlers also had the same enriching experience outdoors as they enjoyed participating in the planned games, music and movement and nature exploration.

We ushered in the New Year with new friends who came into our

KMBR family. The N1s were engaged in various activities which gave them

opportunities to work and play together as well as enhanced their

communication skills and their social skills development as they get to

know their classmates.

During the February cultural week, teacher planned activities to create awareness for the children towards the Chinese culture such as the Chinese traditional costumes, musical instruments as well as various dances. They also practiced hard doing the ribbon dance which they performed for the school during the CNY celebration!

Murid-murid Nurseri 1 diberikan pendedahan dengan lagu-lagu Melayu pada penggal kali ini. Pelbagai lagu seperti ‘Bangun Pagi’, ‘Buih Sabun’, ‘Hari Sudah Tinggi’ dan sebagainya diperdengarkan kepada mereka. Mereka seronok bernyanyi sambil menari beramai-ramai.

During their February outdoor activities, N2 had fun learning new skills such as ‘underarm throw’ in the game of ‘bowling’ and engaging in obstacle relay in line with the termly theme .

The N2s too learned about different emotions and discussed about the causes of these emotions. They dramatized the emotions and their peers had a fun time guessing them. In addition, the N2s learned sorting as one of the numeracy concepts taught in Term 1. What better way to learn Math than through ‘hands-on’ exploration? The N2s were introduced to the concept of sorting by using counters. They grouped the counters according to colours, size and things.

Children had great fun exploring their natural environment during their Nature Magnified activities. They used the natural materials that they had collected for various activities such as painting, collage and sorting.

In relationship with the Unit 2 Theme which is “From Head to Toe – My Body”, K1s Detectives

made fingerprints on a paper and investigated the lines seen on it.

They were able to see their uniqueness through their

fingerprints.

They also learned to stay healthy and keep fit by enggaging themselves in physical activities such as “Balloon-minton” and Soccer game. They explored the function of their body parts as they played the game.

With the new school year ahead, the K2’s started learning about their school, their body, and their feelings. One of the activities they did was to discover how much they have grown by comparing their hand size to the hand size of Toddlers and Nursery 1s. Most of them were amazed on how big they have grown for the past years.

In Nature Magnified, the K2’s got to know more about a city in a garden. They learned the importance of having plants in a city and how they can make our cities greener. The children were engaged in watering the center’s plants and looked closely at the shapes of the leaves.

Nature Magnified Launch@ Botanic Garden

On 23 January 2019, our N2s to K2s, participated in the Kidz Meadow mass event called the Nature Magnified Launch @

the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

We are proud to share that due to the great response of

our Nature Magnified Programme that was launched

in 2018, this year we have extended it to our N2 level!

learning journey as they participated in craft making activities, Amazing Race and

also Nature Hunting.

NE Cluster Family Carnival @ MPH BLK 985 #WELOVEOURGRANDPARENTS

On 8 March 2019, we had our first NE Cluster Event (jointly organised by Kidz Meadow Kindergarten, Kidz Meadow@Hougang, Kidz Meadow@Buangkok Crescent and Kidz Meadow@Buangkok Ridge for our Term 1 Disposition Day on Care for the Family. However, due to space constraint, we were only able to

get our N2s to K2s children to join us for the Family Carnival.

In line with the theme of MERCU’s 20th Anniversary celebration, the Family Carnival was organised with the aim of raising funds for SRC beneficiaries and at the same time strengthening the child-parent-

grandparent relationship.

Parents, grandparents and children were seen to be enjoying their time. This had helped to create a special bonding with their families. It was heartening to watch the children’s performances and they were

having fun in engaging at the game booths prepared by the centres. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents that have participated and contributed in making the event a success.

Care for Family @ KMBR #WELOVEOURFAMILY

Even though the Family Carnival was catered for the older children, we did not forget about the younger ones at the centre. Activities too were planned for the little ones at the centre. They

participated in games like candy hunting and creating Family Frames for their beloved ones. Let’s join them in their mini celebration at the centre!!

Teacher Ailin never fails to greet us and is always smiling whenever she receives or send

off my child.

Teacher Erika always smile whenever she meets. She always interact with parents about

children's needs or behaviours. My Son enjoys being in her class. Her teaching culture is quite good. My son always shares about the activities conducted in class. Despite her own class, she is very friendly towards the rest of the parents as

well.

Buangkok Ridge before. Was taught by Cikgu Noor to read ‘doa’ before studying and instil

Teacher Aerielle is a very good and kind hearted towards Adam Luqman and his

friends in N1 (2018). Adam instantly likes and loves her very much the moment she took

over from the previous teacher. Everyday without fail Adam will share a lot of positive feedbacks about her. He is looking forward to come to school when he knows that Teacher Aerielle will ‘open the door’ on some days

every morning. I personally felt that she is a very energetic teacher even when it is the time

to fetch Adam in the evening I fully recommend her to be the ‘Most Friendly

Teacher’ in the centre.
