'Through the Banyan Jungle' (oil on canvas) - Elishba Mary Chacko Oils can convey depth and light, imbuing the composition with a lasting richness. A digital effect has been used to bring out the canvas texture for printing. Here, the artist depicts memories of her childhood in northern India. She is currently trying

her hand at Indian fine arts inspired by the Kangra school.

Augusto’s epitaph

Poems by Augusto Diaz (8.9.05)

Passerby…Who lays here, its own recognition is only a shadow, a peregrine ideaWho’s thoughts, reflections appear delineated in the minds of many people, so they will sayBut because nothing happened while somebody like me was hereThe other graves that you see here are not great marks of great people,They are like any other grave, perhaps like mineAs you can see clearly dear passerby, possibly never to see me again,That my sort begins here and ends hereAnd while you move away, a grey mist rises to hid, nothing

While I was lying in this hospital bed waiting for my death a thought occurred to me.Does it bother you, the sound of my voice? If so, did you get the idea that I was alive? But my stay on this line of vibrations have proved futile, Really without a reason,Because, men who pretend to be gods, who pretend to have dominion over this world including mine, are still governing, when they should be dead. And, if I had anything to do with what we would be doing now, we would be in the garden together,Reading with amusement and drinking to each other’s health, a glass of wineAbout their demise.
