SUBANG JAYA: The SubangJaya Municipal Council (MP-SJ) is considering getting theprivate sector to fund the pub-lic infrastructure projects ifthe Public \'\\)rks Department(PWD) is facing budget con-straints.

One such project is the pro-posed pedestrian bridge atPersiaran Kewajipan whichprogress has been stalledsince 2004.

MPSJ councillor TheresaRatnam Thong said the coun-cil had been getting otTersfrom companies in the privatesector to resume work on theRM1 million pedestrianbridge but the council hadturned down the offers as theproject was supposed to becompleted by PWD when theSubang-Kelanalinkwas com-pleted last year.

"We are still getting offersfrom corporate groups whopronllse to fund the pedes-trian bridge if they were al-lowed te pu~ npadvertise-ments on the pedestrianbridge panel," she said.

She said this time, the coun-cil was seriously consideringthe offers.

"The pedestrian bridgeshould be part of the devel-opment of the highway.

"It is dangerous for the res-idents to cross the eight-lanehighway, especially duringpeak hours," she said.

The pedestrian bridge wasto be built in front of 111eSub-ang Jaya Buddhist Associa-tion (SJBA) and the SS14 shoplots area on the opposite sideof the road.

Devotees visiting the SJBAand Sri Vartharaja PerunlalHindu temple next door, es-pecialiy the old folk and dis-abled, will benefit from thepedestrian bridge.

The council intends to
