MJIIT CAREER FAIR 2016

MJIIT organized a career fair exclusively for third and fourth year students for the second time

on 14 and 21 April 2016. The event was held at

Dewan Tan Sri Ainuddin Wahid, UTM Kuala Lumpur from 11 am to 5 pm on both days. 130 final year

students are expected to graduated this year, 57 from MPE and 73 from ESE.

32 companies participated with 17 companies

on 14 April and 15 companies on 21 April

respectively. 29 of them were Japanese companies whilst the rest were local companies. They were

Denso, Hiro Food Packages Manufacturing, Hitachi Air Conditioning Products, Honda, NSK Micro

Precision, Organo, Ortustech, Renesas

Semiconductor, SMK Electronics, Sony EMCS, Sumimoto Electric Sintered Components, Tamura

Electronics, TDK, TDK-Lambda, Toray, UMW Toyota Motor, Konica Minolta Business Technologies,

Hirose Electric, IHI Corporation Kuala Lumpur,

JTEKT Automotive, Kaneka, Nippon Electric Glass, Nippon Paint, Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning

R&D (PAPARADMY), Panasonic Appliances Refriger-ation Devices (PAPRDMY), Perodua Manufacturing,

Rohm-Wako Electronics, Texas Instruments, Yamaha Electronics Manufacturing, Daikin

Electronic Devices, Finisar and Coway.

The MJIIT Career Fair 2016 aims for exposure of students in job hunting. The fair was also opened

to public. The event was closed by Prof. Dr. Ezzat

Chan, Deputy Dean (Academic).

3rd year students from Electrical System Engineering and Mechanical Precision Engineering

participating in Integrated Design Project took part.

Each group consisted of 5 members from the two departments. On 26 May 2016, the competition was

held at MJIIT Main Stair.

The Integrated Design Project (IDP) is a course that must be completed by third year students as a

requirement to complete their engineering degree.

The students work in groups and are given one semester to solve a problem related to a certain

theme given by their supervisors. Students are expected to do their work independently most of the

time, but their progress will be monitored closely by

their supervisors. At the end of the project, students will have to demonstrate that their product managed

to solve the given problem and then document their work in a report.

The aim of the IDP is to give students opportunity to apply the knowledge that they have

gained while studying in MJIIT to work in a team to solve practical engineering problems. It is also a

means to inculcate the process of making in the art of creative minds, related to good craftsmanship

earned through practice rather than structured

course curricula taught in education centers. It is hoped that by going through this course, the

students will not only gain knowledge and experience in solving problems systematically; they also will

acquire experience in actually making useful things

by utilizing their engineering knowledge.

The criteria used in evaluation were creative design, mastery of content, preparation and system

approach assessed by 4 judges, 2 are from academia and 2 from industry. The prize were given based on

2 categories which is creative design and

performance. Both categories won by Group 25.

SEMINAR ON SLOPE AND RISK

On 30 May 2016, a Seminar of Slope and Risk was held at MJIIT, UTM Kuala Lumpur. The event was jointly

organized by Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre

(DPPC), MJIIT, BS Consultancy & Management Services and Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University.

This seminar shared techniques and supervision that

can be used in development activities in the hill slope and highlands, this seminar also revealed procedures practiced

search and rescue when the landslide occurred.

Landslides is one of the natural disasters that often

gains attention in Malaysia. Usually landslides occur naturally. In addition, landslides also occurred as a result of human activity itself. The area of slopes are usually more at risk of landslides due to slope

instability compared to a relatively flat and smooth.

This is a sign of natural disasters as a result of changes in ecosystem

ecology or nature. Various factors have caused the ecological change dramatically so that claimed many innocent lives. It is undeniable that

landslide is natural, however, steps of precautions to face this disaster must be emphasized. Malaysians should adopt the practice of 'a stitch in time

saves nine' to prevent more lives are lost. All parties should work together

to provide emergency assistance to the victims to alleviate their misery.
