Jln SS2/63.
She was also ne of the participant that took place for The “Bestnya Malaysiaku” wall art competition,
She painted the ‘Kedai Gunting Rambut Lyla’, and won second-runner up for the wall art competition held in SS2 .

For older time, Indian barbers have been styling the hair of Malaysian men and boys. They are a part and percel of Malaysia culture.
Kedai Gunting Rambut Lyla is a mural combined with installation art, depicting the ambience inside a barber shop which has remained the same for the last 30 years.

` 01 Stereotype Lyla stereotyped that all barber shops are
owned by Indians
` 02 Non-verbal messages (Object) Based on the mural art, we can know that this is a barber shop because of the typical features such as old skull square mirror, checked floor and barber pole.
` 03 Posture & Movement The little boy sits straight and bends his hear
down to let the barber to trim his hair
` 04 Selective Perception Barber pole as a sign to indicate Indian barber
shops in Malaysia. The ambience of classic Indian barber shop always

We can know that the woman is a Chinese based on her skin colour and the cheongsam she is
wearing.

` 01 Cultural Identity The attires and skin colour represent the cultural identity of the ethnic or race.Eg: Sinuangga and Tapi
` 02 Assimilation There are different races in Malaysia but
we still get along well with each other. Communication between different races
enhance a better relationships.
` 03 Personal distance zone The distance between the two people
are very close which we can assumed that they are couple.
` 05 Body Language The woman’s body posture shows that
she is dancing and the smile on her face shows that she is enjoying the
dance.
` 04 Communication There are tubes communication model in the mural art. The mural art acts as communicator one and send information
to the public which is communicator two.
Conclusion
Murals often show the concerns, hopes, values and memories of the community where the murals are painted.
SS2 Malacca Riverside- The local council
organised the contest in hopes of reviving the
SS2 area. To attract local graffiti artists to take part in
the art initiative.- It carries own
meaning in every mural arts.
- The vision is to enhance Malacca’s arts
and culture scene.- To showcase a
significant storyline between the past and
present.- To utilise images
represents Malacca.
