Cetuximab

Maculopapular exanthema: case reportA 64-year-old man developed maculopapular exanthema

while receiving cetuximab for metastatic colorectaladenocarcinoma. The man received systemic FOLFIRIchemotherapy plus cetuximab at standard dosage [dosage androute not stated]. He received 12 cycles betweenSeptember 2008 and March 2009, and thereafter continuedcetuximab monotherapy on a weekly basis. During cetuximabtherapy, he experienced maculopapular exanthema [durationof treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Treatment withantibacterials and corticosteroids resulted in improvement, while direct sun exposure or mechanical irritation fromshaving led to temporary worsening. The skin reactionpersisted during cetuximab therapy, but did not necessitatetreatment discontinuation.

Author comment: In terms of adverse effects ofcetuximab treatment, the patient suffered only frommaculopapular exanthema.Benes P, et al.
