1. Transient Voltage Surge Suppression (TVSS)
A comprehensive catalogue featuring COVIS’s solutions for controlling High
Voltage Transients such as lightning and grid switching. Compared to low-
voltage event, high voltage can cause catastrophic damages to electrical
and electronic equipment. Surge suppressor provide protection from voltage
spikes by limiting harmful let-through voltage that could destroy down-stream
equipment located further into the grid. As we know, many things can cause

2. Active Tracking Filter
Active tracking filters are used to control low and high voltage transients. Low
voltage noise is caused by everyday events such as powering up appliances
or motors. Although less dramatic than high-voltage transients, the long term
effect of these frequent disturbances can be just damaging. Active tracking

3. Lightning Structural Protection
Structural protection or also known as external protection against lightning
provides protection to structure against physical damage and injuries for
contact voltages and contact with human beings. The objective of an
external lightning protection system is to control the lightning striking point
thus providing the lightning current a path to the ground without damaging
the structure. Thus, COVIS has a highly experiences solution for this problem in

1. Power Conditioner
A power conditioner which can also be known as power line conditioner or
voltage regulator is a device intended to improve the power quality that is
delivered to electrical load equipment. This device acts in one or more ways
to deliver a voltage at a proper level and the characteristics to enable load
equipment to function properly. Power conditioners provide wide protection
to more power quality problems, such as harmonics, reactive power, power
line flicker and resonance. COVIS’s expertizes are able to assist our customers

2. SagFixer
A SagFixer is an electrical regulator designed to automatically maintain a
constant voltage level. A voltage conditioner is an example of a negative
feedback control loop. It may use as an electromechanical mechanism, or
electronic components. Depending on the design, it may be used to
regulate one or more AC or DC voltages.

1. Static Uninterruptible Power Supply
There is various range of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) offered by COVIS.
A UPS differs from an auxiliary or emergency power system or standby
generator in that it will provide instantaneous or near-instantaneous
protection from input power interruptions by means of one or more attached
batteries and associated electronic circuitry for low power users and by
means of diesel generators and flywheels for high power users. COVIS’s

2. Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply
Diesel rotary uninterruptible power supply devices (DRUPS) combine the
functionality of a battery-powered or flywheel-powered UPS and a diesel
generator. The power output of single dynamic UPS modules generally higher
than that of static UPS systems. COVIS believes that NO BREAK dynamic UPS

1. COVIS Chemical Grounding Systems

potential of the conductors relative to that of the Earth’s conductive surface.

free transmission of information for maximum productivity and integrity of

Our Managing Director, Mr Lawrence Lai was the Vice Chairman of Institution
of Engineering and Technology (IET), a UK based Engineering Institution. The
Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is the largest multidisciplinary
professional engineering institution in the world. The IET represents the
engineering profession in matters of public concern and assists governments
to make the public aware of engineering and technological issues. It
provides advice on all areas of engineering, regularly advising Parliament
and other agencies.
The IET also grants Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer, Engineering
Technician, and ICT Technician professional designations on behalf of the

(Managing Director)
B.Eng. (Hons) Electrical & Electronic,
Master’s in Engineering Business Management, Warwick University UK.
Lawrence Lai is the Managing Director of Covis Sdn Bhd, a professional turn-
key solution provider for data center requirements. He leads a team of highly
qualified professionals who specialize in providing consultation to end users
on data center design process, equipment required, server migration and
more.
Prior to establishing this company, Lawrence has been working in Emerson
Network Power and acquired experiences designing and commissioning
data center projects for over 12 years. Some of his happy clients include DHL,
Heitech Padu, American Express, BMW Cyberjaya and many more.
Lawrence currently holds an Electrical and Electronics degree and a Master
Degree in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University, UK. He
has been awarded with the Charted Engineer status by the Engineering
Council UK in recognition of his contributions to the electrical and
mechanical (M&E) industry for the past 10 years. He is currently the event
Chairman for the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Malaysia
Network.

(Human Resource Manager)
Bachelor in Human Resource Management,
Sunway University
Melissa Lim is the Human Resource Manager at Covis Sdn. Bhd. She holds a
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Sunway University College
and is a Human Resource Management graduate from the Malaysian
Institute of Human Resource Management.
Prior to joining COVIS, she has accumulated over 8 years of experience in the
HR Department in various organisations, such as Hexatech Sdn. Bhd., LKE
Electric (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and Koon Hoe & Company Sdn. Bhd. In COVIS,
she is responsible for all the human resources requirements in the company.
Besides her regular duties for the company, she also works as an internal
trainer for company staff focusing on human resources. As a trainer, she has
conducted various training workshops, for example, training needs analysis,
effective recruitment strategies and counselling for staff.
