Fol lowing he r general nurse t ra in ing in New Zealand, Agnes v e n t u r e d to M e l b o u r n e to u n d e r t a k e he r midwi fe ry educa t i on at the Mercy Materni ty Hospital. She t h e n c o m p l e t e d a degree in Bache lo r o f App l i ed Science (Advanced Nursing) l ead ing o n to a Master 's degree. Agnes l ec tu red at the Austral ian Cathol ic Un ive r s i t y in M e l b o u r n e p r i o r to m o v i n g to Q u e e n s l a n d in 1992 to accep t a pos i t i on as Lecturer, Griff i th University.

Agnes assisted w i t h the p l a n n i n g o f the 3 rd ICM Asia Pacific P re -Confe rence W o r k s h o p and Regional Confe rence , March 1992. She was act ive in b o t h the Victor ian and Q u e e n s l a n d Branches of ACMI a n d m o r e r ecen t ly he ld the pos t o f Educa t i on Officer, Queens l and Branch, a nd s e c o n d Queens l and delegate to the Nat ional Execut ive Commit tee .

Agnes a t t e n d e d the 23rd ICM Congress in Vancouver in May 1993, w h e r e she p r e s e n t e d a p a p e r en t i t l ed gl Bel ie f in Heal ing - - h o w come it is challenged?'

A memor i a l service was he ld in M e l b o u r n e at the Aus- t ral ian Cathol ic Univers i ty Chapel , w h e r e m a n y f r iends g a t h e r e d to r e m e m b e r Agnes. Louise Sledzik p r e s e n t e d the r e m e m b r a n c e address a n d Lorra ine Wilson , r ep r e sen t i ng the ACMI Nat ional Execut ive read the Th i rd Reading of the service. It was ev iden t w i t h i n the Chape l tha t Agnes h a d left m a n y h a p p y m e m o r i e s w i t h he r f r iends a n d col leagues - he r personality, joy for life and he r pass ion for nurs ing a n d m i d w i f e r y will l ong be r e m e m b e r e d .

Mrs Masoe has stated he r desire to establish a memor ia l to Agnes by crea t ing a Research Fund - for r e sea rch s tudies to b e u n d e r t a k e n in Fiji.
