Salmanazar Light

“Salmanazar Light” is both a decorative lamp and a stand for 35 champagne flutes. “Salmanaz Light” transforms the set of the champagne flutes into a luminious and harmonous work of art. This work is completely 3D Prited using approximately 5 kg od wood-plastic composite. A microcomputer is programmed to dynamically control each of the 560 individual color LEDs for this effect. A custom industrial 3D printer was designed and built at Pangloss Labs by the artist in order to print this creation.

Growing Shoe

‘Alice’, a new modular shoe made from funghi. ‘Alice’ consists of two detachable parts: the base and the upper. The base is a modular shoe structure, produced through additive manufacturing. The upper is replaceable and it consists of “zero waste” materials. The full shoe can be adapted and customized according to the needs and/or the trends. Thanks to its modular qualities, the shoe is fully recyclable. Project ‘Alice’ has been recently selected as “Laureate” of the first Additive Design Challenge.

MAGAZINE LAB

DESCRIPTIONThe Magazine lab researches and looks for new ideas in view of distribution, print, digital, content, augmented readers, communities, art, illustration and many other subjects.A new magazine concept for AddictlabAs a solution for its own publication platform, Addictlabs founder Jan Van Mol came up with a “Modular Magazine” concept. He introduced the concept of augmented readers/consumers, so that content is not created by an isolated editorial board, but is turning readers into editing participants. His concept still wants curated content, yet the format should be digitangible: both an online inspiration source as a true tangible object, re-installing paper – or other materials - as a valuable resource, adding an extra tactile level to the content at hand. The Addictlab magazine should be modular - leaving space for readers to construct and collect their own content. For that, Addictlab refined its creative chemistry ta-ble with over 140 disciplines in 13 categories, now used as a true guiding and navi-gation tool through the lab’s creative community, people and concepts. And although the Addictlab magazine should have an online distribution because of ecological and practical reasons (the readers are all over the world), it should also leave the way to local entities (Fab labs, creative hubs) to produce their own Addict-lab magazines locally. As Addictlab is active in the maker & prototyping world, the production and fabrica-tion of a magazine needs to fit that concept too.So Addictlab’s ‘cloud hub’ concept with online members can be expanded to local ‘ground hubs’ with their own specific communities, adding a DIY level to the art of magazine making and book binding.

IPAC “The Parasite” Concept

The “Parasite” concept of the Modular Magazine is based on the idea that each article/project is presented individually on a sticker. Thus giving to the reader the possibility to choose as many articles as they like and stick them on any support they want. It could be a sketch-book, another magazine, a newspaper or even a catalogue from a company they where interested in. Thesticker is mostly an image, with minimal information that invites the reader to use the dedicated addictlab magazine app in order to access the text and further information. On the digital app the reader can create his personal magazines with content of their interest. Its an idea that merges physical and digital and deconstructs the traditional format of the magazine.Team Members: Michael Rothenbuhler, Lydie Perrenoud, Lazlo Savary, Brian Santos, Julie Lemarchand, Anna Liferenko.

IPAC “3D Modular Magazine”

The 3D concept of the Modular Magazine is based on the idea that each module is a 3 dimensional object that occupies space and creates an emotionally strong element that changes its identity as it changes its content. The origami like modules can be stuck to each other, according to the readers choice, creating a spatial concertina that has a strong physical presence. The magazine can become an artistic or decorative object and gives the editor and contributors many different possibilities in communicating their ideas, not only via the content but also by treating each module as an emotional element.Once the reader has made their selection and the modules are stuck together, it is very easy to read the articles and identify each of them for quick reference.Team Members: Marc Silva, Farah Cuénoud, Arthur Taquin, Yousif Al-Khudri, Emily Miligan, Simon Morel.w

CORPORATE TRANSFORMATION LAB

Using the Addictlab methodology as a software concept.Addictlab and its business unit YourOwnLab helps companies to become an em-ployee engaged and activated organization connected with the outside world.YourOwnlab helps creating a new company culture to increase job satisfaction, to detect unperceived talent and to generate an entrepreneurial mind-set throughout the organization. The LAB culture empowers people, fosters innovation and contributes to the finan-cial goals of the company. Opening the innovation process to clients, suppliers and outside communities will accelerate even further idea generation and detect new business opportunities. The transformation process proposed includes several aspects touching deeply the organization of the company:

• profiling people differently to discover creative competences and assemble dynamic groups (pyramidal system versus circular approach)• accelerate and increase business and non-business related idea generation engaging teams and communities (open innovation culture)• deploy physical fabrication environments as well as collaborative workspaces empowering talent and prototyping ideas (collective intelligence)• bringing faster business cases and opportunities to the market (rapid prototyping)

KIDS LAB

DESCRIPTIONAddictlab at Expo Juniors, April 22 - 24, Geneva.Addictlab has partnered up with the Palexpo Geneva fairs, to set up a 500 m2 Addictlab space dedicated to creativity, innovation and crossdisciplinary thinking. By accelerating and promoting local lab members and working with various local partners, the Addictlab space will boost activities for kids (4 to 14 years) such as :• Watch a movie in the MinimaCinema, learn to program robots, make your own

camera from tetra paks and develop your own pictures. • Learn to work with wood, paint with plants, or let scribbling machines do the

work for you. • Watch a photography exhibition, learn about art therapy for kids in war zones,

and print in 3D ... in chocolat.
