1.0 INTRODUCTIONMeaning of open sourceOpen-source is computer software with its source code made available and licensed with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose. Open-source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-source development and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open-content movements.Meaning of hardwareComputer hardware is the collection of physical elements that constitute a computer system. Computer hardware refers to the physical parts or components of a computer such as monitor, keyboard, Computer data storage, hard drive disk, mouse, system unit (graphic cards, sound cards, memory, motherboard and chips), etc. all of which are physical objects that you can actually touch.Meaning of softwareSoftware refers to an assortment of programs that are basically used to operate computers and other related devices.

2.0The Latest Open Source Operating System (OS) Meaning of Open Source System OSOpen Source Operating System is any operating system that is free to use and which provides the original code where the source code is available (under a copyright license) to the public, which enables them to use, modify / enhance the operating system, and redistribute the modified (or unmodified) form of the operating system. The advance user can modify the code of the operating system to make it works better for them in starting the computer or a likely user interface.

Example of open source.1. Linux (3.11.4) Linux or GNU/Linux is a free and open source software operating system for computers. The operating system is a collection of the basic instructions that tell the electronic parts of the computer what to do and how to work. Free and open source software (FOSS) means that everyone has the freedom to use it, see how it works, and change it.There is a lot of software for Linux, and since Linux is free software it means that none of the software will put any license restrictions on users. This is one of the reasons why many people like to use Linux.Date released: 5 October 2013

2.Android (4.4 KitKat) Android is an operating system for mobile devices. It is mostly used for cell phones, like Google's own Galaxy Nexus, as well as by other phone manufacturers like HTC and Samsung. It has also been used for tablets such as the Motorola Xoom and Amazon Kindle Fire. Android's kernel is based on Linux.Date released: 31 October 2013

3.0THE LATEST OPEN SOURCE APPLICATION SOFTWAREMeaning of Open Source Application SoftwareOpen-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available and licensed with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.

Example1.Firefox24

Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser developed for Windows, OS X, and Linux, with a mobile version for Android, by Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which implements current and anticipated web standards. Date released:17 September 2013LibreOffice 4.1.2

LibreOffice is a free and open source office suite, developed by The Document Foundation. It was forked from OpenOffice.org in 2010. The LibreOffice suite comprises programs to do word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams, maintain databases, and compose math formulae.

In contrast to desktop computing, pervasive computing can occur using any device, in any location, and in any format. A user interacts with the computer, which can exist in many different forms - laptop, tablets, terminals, phones, etc. The underlying technologies to support pervasive computing include Internet, advanced middleware, operating system, mobile code, sensors, microprocessors, new I/O (input / output), new user interfaces, networks, mobile protocols, location and positioning, new materials, etc.Example1. Google GlassGoogle Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) that is being developed by Google in the Project Glass research and development project, with a mission of producing a mass-market pervasive computer. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format, that can communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands2. Samsung Galaxy CameraThe Samsung Galaxy Camera is a point-and-shoot camera which is an Android based mobile device. Samsung announced the camera in August, 2012, with the slogan "Camera. Reborn. The camera features a 16 megapixel CMOS sensor and a 21x optical zoom lens, as well as Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, and a GPS receiver by which the camera can make geotagged photographs. Included software allows for in-camera organizing, editing and online sharing or storage of images and videos. As with other Android devices, other software can be downloaded from Google Play.ConclusionBy completing this assignment, I had obtain lots of information about latest development of hardware and software. I also learn that the importance of computing in our daily life and our daily life were simplified by computers. Without computers, our daily life would be more difficult and tend to be more mistakes. At the end, I would like to thank to all individuals that helped, provided information and giving guidance to me for completing this assignment.Referencehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_softwarehttp://ooijiyoung.blogspot.com/2013/11/form-4-ict-written-assigment-s05.htmlhttp://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-myhttp://www.google.com/glass/start/
