Hera oers Paris the

power over the world, Athena, the wisdom and Aphrodite represents or him the birth o the beautiul Helen and gives her to him.Paris’ decision, choosing Aphrodite and taking Paris, causes the anger o her husband, so Aphrodite brings them her protection.

La Fura dels Baus

The Catalonian company, La ura dels Baus,has become in its 33 years o history in acult group o the international theatrical scene. With a orged language since their earlier works – interaction with the audience, unusual stages and the adaptation o the scene to the characteris- tics o each place – La Fura dels Baus has completely changed with their spectacular staging, everything they have approached,rom the street theatre to opera, along with creations or great sceneries and events.

Among the many national and international prizes received, are included the National Prize o Theatre 1993, given by the Ministry o Culture, the Prize o Barcelona City 1992,and the Max Prize o the Scenic Arts 1998,both received or the international projection o the group. Among the most recent ones, the prestigious prize Abiatti

2008, the lyrics prizes o the Theatre Campoamor or the representation o The

Ring o the Nibelungs, rom Richard Wagner.

Pera Tantiñá, directr

Pera Tantiñá is one o the six artistic directors and coounder in 1979 o La Fura dels Baus.Consequently, he is the creator o good part o the language and aesthetic o the group – the other directors are Carlus Padrissa, Miki Espuma, Pep Gatell, Jürgen Müller y Alex Ollé-.He took part in the creation and play o Accions (1982) and Manes (1984) and with it the group went on tour or more than two years. Tantiñá

continued with Obit, a laboratory o theatre and participation, as well as many incursions in the world o the biggest shows, like The Divine

Comedy, which took place in Florence in ront o more than 40.000 spectators. Currently, his main activities are the macro shows, like the inauguration o the Festival o Vanguard Theatre in Torrejón de Ardoz or the inauguration o a Ferries port in St. Petersburg.

OPTIKUM comes back to the estival ater the presentation in 2004 o their show IL CORSO, a staging o Pablo Neruda’s,Book o Questions, which was represented between 2001-2007 in more than 100 cities in Europe and Latin America. In 2013, the German company presents TRANSITion, aree version based in the work Le soleil ni la

mort ne peuvent se regarder en ace, rom the Lebanese, writer, actor and artistic director, Wadji Mouawad.

TRANSITion situates us in our current world, where the old ortune teller Tiresias,presents the meaning o an ancient story.He remits us to times o violence and sacrices in which our cities were built and warns us o new catastrophes.

PAN.oPTIKUM

The company, PAN.OPTIKUM was ounded in Berlin in 1982 and works in their rst years with members related to the world o plastic, dance, music and circus. Their rst staging was Laurenzia (1986). The poetic and antasy images become the symbol o identity o PAN.OPTIKUM, as well as the great objects and gures made o many

dierent materials.

In 1997, the company develops Prometheus with the Group Nachtwerk (experts in pyrotechnics). They join them in 2001 and produce Blind Date, or the Festival o Theatre in the Ruhr and Il CORSO,considerate as one o the most successul productions o this genre in Europe. Also relevant is ORPHEUS, in the Ruhrtriennale in 2004, where they move away rom the pyrotechnics. Among the prizes received by PAN.OPTIKUM we nd the 1st Prize in Atlanta’s World Festival, the 1st Prize in the

International Festival o Street Theatre in Venice and the 1st Prize or Il CORSO during the International Festival o Theatre in Holzminden in May 2002.

Sigrun Fritsc, directr

The outdoors settings in great ormats suppose the central point o Sigrun’s Firtsch work; with them she crosses the limits o the dierent traditional disciplines. Under demand o the artistic director o the

Ruhrtriennale, Gerard Mortiar, she presented a production o the myth o Orpheus in the estival opening year (2004).With the Baroque Orchestra o Fribourg she staged Il balo delle ingrate, Monteverdi (1998), Schubert’s Winter Journey with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (2000), with the Theatre Freiburg staged Philip’s Glass, The

Civil Wars (2004-2007), Carmina Burana with the Theatre Basel (2008) and Gluck’s Orpheus with the Philharmonic o Tallin with Georg Rootering (2010).

Graduated in Musicology by the University o Oviedo and qualied by the UNED in Cultural Patrimony Management, he was trained in the Proessional Conservatory o Music o Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.He was a titular member o the Opera in Oviedo and the Polyphonic Choir in Llanera between 1992 and 2000. In 2000, he becomes director o the Philharmonic Orchestra Choir o Gran Canaria and he has done the large symphonic and choral repertoire with it, as well as opera,zarzuela and other popular genres working along with directors such as Günther Herbig,Jesús López Cobos, Neville Marriner, Rudol Barshai, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Reinhard Goebel,Adrian Leaper or Juan José Mena.

Ater more than twenty years perorming with re around the World, La Salamandre creates the show Essat, re in Etheopian language, which comes to our city ater its way in the 14th Street Festival o Theatre and Arts o Valladolid.

In Essat, the company makes a musical perormance about migratory fows, the way every culture and identity travel, spread, share…. For that, they count with the bases o Azmaris (social Ethiopian group o men and women who sing and play music), remade live with rock,rap and sound boards.

Essat is in the origin o everything, stuck in the Arican culture, to take impulse over dierent communities, mixture o cultures. A play made up on fames: re in rhythm, in movement with the help o instruments made by the company.

This company o street perormances was ounded in 1990 in Besançon, France. Among their shows, all o them around re, we nd Rêve, Passage, Variations sur la famme, Le

Actors hanging in the air in an aerial theatre show, which with humour and emotion wants to shake consciousnesses. As The

World Tipped is a play about the ecological crisis which reaches our planet, written and directed by Nigel Jamieson, one o the best creators o outdoor perormances in the world, also author o the opening ceremony o the Olympic Games in Sydney and o Liverpool Capital o Culture.

In the Secretariat o the Conerence about the climate change in Copenhagen, apursued sta is not realising that the world around them is getting close to a disaster literally and also metaphorically. A big vertical surace, which projects images, is used as background or the movement o actors. Hanging in the night sky over the audience, actors ght to control the scarcity o the world as long as they ght with the eects o a drastic environmental catastrophe.

wired Aerial Teatre

In 1998, the dancer Wendy Hesketh and the climber Jamie Ogilvie met each other when both were chosen or a show that the Argentinean Company, De La Guarda, was to present in London. There begins the proessional and personal history o this

couple which comes today with Wired Aerial Theatre. They have received ovations with Glimpse, Rosas’s Bar and Straw Dog.Together they developed their technique o bungee assisted dance with the aim o creating a perorming way which could subtly play with the perception o the audience, letting them see the shape o abody hanging instead o a dancer hanging rom a rope.

Nigel Jamiesn, autr and directr Writer and theatre director, Nigel Jamieson is a recognised creator o great shows. He is the author o the opening ceremony o the Olympic Games in Sydney and the Liverpool Capital o Culture and also takes part in his

job deending the culture o the indigenous people. In 2001, he co-directed in Australiaa historic meeting in which around 2.000 natives rom 40 dierent linguistic groups and also his concern o the world environmental situation is well known.Beside these big scale projects, Nigel’s theatrical work has toured in Australia, Asiaand the USA, as well as in important estivals and seasons in London, New York,Berlin, Vienna, Zurich, Shanghai an Singapore.
