Reactions 413 - 8 Aug 1992 Pfizer’s tenidap causes proteinuria Pfizer have reported that their novel anti-RA drug, tenidap, causes proteinuria at high doses. Tendiap [phase III of development] has been a very promising novel treatment for RA. In contrast with existing NSAIDs which generally reduce the inflammation, tenidap appears to slow the destructive process of the disease. Evidence of the proteinuria, an indicator or possible kidney damage, became apparent during clinical evaluations of the drug. The proteinuria appears to be reversible on discontinuation of the drug. Tanouye E. Pfizer’s new arthritis drug is promising but side effects make analysts wary.
