Pfizer’s tenidap causes proteinuriaPfizer have reported that their novel anti-RA drug,
tenidap, causes proteinuria at high doses.Tendiap [phase III of development] has been a very
promising novel treatment for RA. In contrast withexisting NSAIDs which generally reduce theinflammation, tenidap appears to slow the destructiveprocess of the disease.
Evidence of the proteinuria, an indicator or possiblekidney damage, became apparent during clinicalevaluations of the drug. The proteinuria appears to bereversible on discontinuation of the drug.Tanouye E. Pfizer’s new arthritis drug is promising but side effects make analystswary.
