    1 An experiment is carried out to determine the freezing point of naphthalene. Solid naphthaleneis heated in a water bath until its melts completely.

    Eksperimen menunjukkan penentuan takat beku naftalena. Pepejal naftalena dipanaskan didalam kukus air sehingga melebur dengan lengkap.

    The initial temperature is recorded.Suhu awal direkod

    The molten naphthalene is left to cool. Naftalena yang lebur dibiarkan sejuk.

    The reading of the temperature is recorded every 30 seconds. Bacaan suhu direkod setiap 30 saat.

    Figure 1 shows the recorded thermometer readings at 30 seconds intervals. Rajah 1 menunjukkan bacaan termometer yang direkod setiap 30 saat.

    2 The alkali metals in Group 1 of the Periodic Table of Elements can react with oxygen gas withdifferent reactivity.

    Table 1 shows the experiment and observation when Lithium, Li, Sodium, Na and Potassium,K react with Oxygen, O 2 gas.

    Alkali metal X ignites spontaneously in air with a reddish-violet flame. White fumesand a white solid are also produced.
