FORMAT PENYEDIAAN TESIS/DISERTASI/LAPORAN PENYELIDIKAN FORMAT OF PREPARING THESIS/DISSERTATION/RESEARCH REPORT

1. TAJUK

(a) Tajuk hendaklah tajuk penyelidikan seperti diluluskan oleh Senat atau Fakulti.

(b) Nama calon seperti yang didaftar dengan Universiti. 2. ABSTRAK

(a) Tidak melebihi 500 patah perkataan (b) Ditulis dalam Bahasa Malaysia dan Bahasa Inggeris

(Termasuk abstrak dalam Bahasa Arab sekiranya tesis/disertasi ditulis dalam Bahasa Arab)

3. PENJILIDAN Salinan untuk pemeriksaan:

(a) Lima (5) naskah bercetak dan dijilid dengan kulit nipis (Kulit berwarna merah “rexine” untuk tesis dan disertasi, serta kulit berwarna biru laut untuk laporan penyelidikan); dan

(b) Satu (1) salinan elektronik (softcopy PDF)

Salinan untuk penyerahan akhir:

(a) DUA (2) naskah bercetak dan dijilid dengan kulit tebal (Kulit berwarna merah “rexine” untuk tesis dan disertasi, serta kulit berwarna biru laut untuk laporan penyelidikan); dan

(b) Satu (1) salinan elektronik (softcopy PDF)

4. HAD PATAH PERKATAAN

(a) Tesis –100,000 patah perkataan; (b) Disertasi – 60,000 patah perkataan (c) Disertasi (Mod campuran) – 40,000 patah perkataan (d) Laporan penyelidikan – 20,000 patah perkataan (Tidak termasuk catatan kaki, bibliografi, rujukan, apendiks, jadual dan rajah)

5. KUALITI PERCETAKAN

(a) Ditaip dua jarak (double-spacing) bagi semua teks dan satu jarak (single-spacing) bagi catatan kaki, apendiks, jadual dan rajah.

(b) Corak font yang digunakan iaitu Times New Roman dan Latex atau Equation Editor untuk teks matematik.

(c) Font bersaiz 12 bagi keseluruhan teks dan font bersaiz 8 digunakan bagi catatan kaki (footnote).

6. BIRAI

Birai yang ditetapkan bagi teks adalah seperti berikut:

Atas : 2.0 cm Kanan : 2.0 cm Bawah : 2.0 cm Kiri : 4.0 cm

7. PENOMBORAN MUKA SURAT

(a) Font bersaiz 8; (b) Nombor muka surat dicetak 1.0 cm dari bahagian kanan

bawah muka surat; (c) Nombor Roman (i, ii, iii dan seterusnya) diletakkan di

bahagian permulaan (Preface); (d) Muka surat tajuk (Title page) pada muka hadapan dianggap

sebagai muka surat ‘i', tetapi nombor ‘i’ tidak ditaip. Nombor muka surat bermula selepas muka surat tajuk (Title page) disambung terus dengan nombor Roman ‘ii’.

8. PERAKUAN KEASLIAN PENULISAN

Borang perakuan keaslian penulisan boleh dimuatturun dari laman web http://ips.um.edu.my dan perlu ditandatangani oleh calon dan saksinya serta diletakkan SEBELUM Abstrak. Calon perlu menggunakan perakuan keaslian penulisan sama ada Bahasa Malaysia atau Bahasa Inggeris.

1. TITLE (a) The title must be the title of research which has been

approved by the Senate and the Faculty. (b) The name of the candidate must be the name

registered with the University. 2. ABSTRACT

(a) Not more than 500 words (b) Written in both Bahasa Malaysia and English (Include

abstract in Arabic if the thesis/dissertation is written in Arabic)

3. BINDING

Copy for examination: (a) Five (5) printed copies bound in soft cover (Red

rexine for thesis and dissertation, and navy blue for research report); and

(b) One (1) softcopy in PDF format Copy for final submission: (a) TWO (2) printed copies bound in hard cover (Red

rexine for thesis and dissertation, and navy blue for research report); and

(b) One (1) softcopy in PDF format 4. MAXIMUM LENGTH

(a) PhD Thesis - 100,000 words; (b) Master’s Dissertation - 60,000 words; (c) Master’s Dissertation (mixed-mode) - 40,000 words; (d) Research Report - 20,000 words (Excluding footnote, appendices, tables, diagrams, references and bibliography)

5. PRINTING QUALITY

(a) Double-spacing for all sections. Single-spacing can be used for footnote, appendices, tables and diagrams.

(b) Font type: Times New Roman and Latex or Equation Editor for mathematical text.

(c) Font size 12 for all text and font size 8 for footnotes. 6. INDENT

The indents of pages are as follows:

Top : 2.0 cm Right : 2.0 cm Bottom : 2.0 cm Left : 4.0 cm

7. PAGE NUMBERING

(a) Font size 8 is recommended for page numbering. (b) All page numbers should be printed 1.0 cm from the

bottom margin and placed on the right-hand side; (c) Roman numerals (i, ii, iii etc) should be used in the

Preface section; (d) The Title Page and the first page of the Preface

should not be numbered. Numbering begins on the second page with ‘ii’.

8. ORIGINAL LITERARY WORK DECLARATION

Original Literary Work Declaration form can be downloaded from the website at http://ips.um.edu.my and must be signed by the candidate and verified by a witness. The form should be placed in the thesis/dissertation/research report immediately BEFORE the abstract.

Sila rujuk Garis Panduan penulisan Tesis dan Disertasi untuk butir-butir terperinci (boleh didapati dari IPS atau Fakulti atau dimuaturun dari laman web IPS). Senarai semak ini hendaklah disi oleh calon sebelum membuat penyerahan tesis/disertasi untuk pemeriksaan DAN salinan akhir. Please refer to Guide to the Preparation of Research Reports, Dissertations and Theses for details (can be downloaded from IGS website). This checklist has to be completed by the candidate and submit to the Dean’s Office before submission for examination of the thesis/dissertation and the final copy of the thesis/dissertation.

10. Menggunakan program ‘Spellcheck’ atau ‘Dewan Eja’ untuk menyemak kesalahan ejaan.

Use of spelling-check feature in MSWord or spell-check software to check for spelling errors.

12. ## Menggunakan program ‘Turnitin’ untuk semakan peratusan pertindihan.
