PICKUP HOLDER. THIS GAVE US AN IDEA TO APPLY THE CONCEPT TO OUR THA MACHINE WITH
CREATIVELY DESIGN.

AFTER 6 MONTH OF HARD WORK AND GREAT TEAM SPIRIT, ALZA TEAM HAS COMPLETED THE TASK AND
CRAVES THE SUCCESS TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE THE COMMON ONE GOAL WHICH IS TO ELIMINATE
TILTED ISSUES. THE TEAM HAD ACHIEVED QUALITY, COST AND DELIVERY TARGET FOR TSXP PACKAGE
CONTINUOUSLY TILL TO-DATE. THE QUANTIFIABLE BENEFITS GAINED FROM THIS PROJECT:-

SANMINA PENANG PLANT II IS A PRODUCER OF PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) USING FULLY
AUTOMATIC SURFACE MOUNT EQUIPMENT.
DURING THE PLACEMENT OF COMPONENTS ON THE PCB, IT IS VITAL THAT FINISHING ELECTRONIC
COMPONENTS IN TAPE AND REEL ARE JOINT TOGETHER (CALLED SPLICING) TO ENSURE THE EQUIPMENT
DOES NOT STOP, DUE TO PART REPLENISHMENT.
THE CYCLETIME OF “SPLICING” IS AT 10 MINUTES PER SPLICE, THIS PROJECT IS TO REDUCE THE
CYCLETIME OF SPLICING OF OPERATORS AND TO INCREASE THE PRODUCTIVITY OF SMT OPERATORS.

PRODUCING APPROXIMATELY ~16 MIO PIECES PER WEEK. UNFORTUNATELY INSTABILITY OF MACHINE
PERFORMANCE RESULTED LOW OUTPUT WHICH IS BELOW TARGET OF 6’615K PER WEEK. THIS IS DUE TO
HIGH SOCKET DISABLE AND NOT FULLY UTILIZED. TEAM WAS DECIDED TO PICKUP THE CHALLENGE TO

PGSSO 2-53 IS ONE OF INFINEON MELAKA SENSORS BEST-SELLING PACKAGES. WITH THE RAPID
INCREASE OF DEMAND FOR THE PACKAGE, A STEEP RAMP UP WAS NEEDED TO SECURE MARKET
POSITION. TEAM WAS FACING BIG CHALLENGE TO ENSURE DELIVERY ON TIME YET HIGH PRODUCT
QUALITY MUST BE GUARANTEED. TEAM HAD INTRODUCED A NEW INNOVATION IN PACKAGE
SINGULATION FROM LEADFRAME IN RESOLVING TWO MOST PAIN-POINT DEFECTS IN SENS
MANUFACTURING LINE, I.E. CHIP KERKO (CAPACITOR) AND MISSING PROTRUSION.THIS PROBLEM
CAUSED PRODUCTION TEST YIELD LOSS, HIGH REJECTION, HIGH MAN POWER AND POTENTIAL

TACKLE THE TRUE ROOT CAUSES WITH BIG IMPROVEMENT IMPACT TO THE OBJECTIVE.
