Act 374


An Act to make provision for the remuneration of the TimbalanYang di-Pertuan Agong or other Ruler authorized by law to exercisethe functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

[22 March 1958 ]

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong(Remuneration) Act 1958.

Payment to Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong or other Rulerauthorized to exercise the functions of Yang di-Pertuan Agong

2. (1) There shall be paid to the Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agongor other Ruler authorized by law to exercise the functions of theYang di-Pertuan Agong during any period during which he exercisesthe functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and is not receivingthe emoluments payable to him as the Ruler of his State themonthly sum of eighteen thousand ringgit:

Provided that in relation to a Ruler aforesaid whose emolumentpayable to him as the Ruler of his State is a monthly sum in excessof eighteen thousand ringgit, the reference to eighteen thousandringgit appearing immediately after the words monthly sum ofshall be construed as a reference to the total of the sum of eighteenthousand ringgit and the excess.

(2) The monthly sum payable under subsection (1) shall

(a) accrue from day to day; and

(b) be payable on the last day of each month or on such otherday as the Minister of Finance may from time to timedetermine.

(3) In the event of there being a change of the Ruler exercisingthe functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, there shall be madesuch adjustment and distribution of the monthly payment payable

under subsection (1) as the circumstances of the case may require.

Entertainment

3. (1) There shall be paid to the Comptroller of the Household inrespect of any period during which the Timbalan Yang di-PertuanAgong or other Ruler exercises the functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong the monthly sum of three thousand ringgit forentertainment.

(2) The monthly sum payable under subsection (1) shall accrueand be payable in the same manner as the sum payable undersubsection 2(1).

Other privileges

4. The Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong or other Ruler exercisingthe functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong shall be entitled to the

privileges specified in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

[Section 4]

1. Residence

Furnished residence with staff shall be provided and maintained by theGovernment.

2. Transport and Traveling

Two motorcars shall be provided and maintained by the Government andall traveling expenses paid by the Government.

3. Medical Facilities

Medical attention and hospital treatment shall be provided by the Government.
