Questions 26 - 3l are based on the following passage. There are always moments in our lives when we wish we could be in a

better place, a better position, a better environment or have a better this or that.No doubt that no one is perfect but being human beings, we wish our world isperfect and we feel disappointed when we realise it is not.I was quite a weak child when I was born, and at age two, I was found tobe suffering from asthma. At such a young age, I did not understand whatsuffering meant but the ones who suffered the most were my loving parents. One could tell the worried looks on their laces but not once did they complainand they would do just about anything to find ways for their little girl to getbetter. I could not even recall undergoing the critical moments during myasthmatic attacks. There were just vague memories of being in school onemoment, and the next, lying on the back seat of my father's car, being driven tothe hospital. My asthma attacks were really bad when I was in school. Once, duringrecess, I sort of lost consciousness due to breathing difficulties. What acommotion it caused. The next thing I knew, I was lying in a hospital bed.By age seven, I had been in and out the hospital so often that I somehowhad the idea that the hospital was my second home. I got used to it and madefriends with the doctors and nurses. Some of their faces and smiles are stillvivid in rny mind. I also remember dancing happily around the corridors of thehospital while waiting for my hospital meal. Once, I even threw up on myfather's hand while he held me on the way back home. Ah, to be carefree like achild! What I remember most though were the moments when my classmatesplayed sports, all I could do was just sit and watch. Then, when my sisterjoined our friends for rope skipping in the playground, I would be confined athome, forced to look only frorn inside due to my condition. On top of that, Iwas not allowed to join them.I was also not allowed to eat or drink any'thing cold such as ice cream, jelly, or even certain type of fruits. Oh, how I longed to have them during thoseextremely hot days. Pets were also strictly forbidden. It was a big no-no to gonear or touch rabbits or small animals as my parents were afraid that their hairwould trigger an attack.Every day, I was made to take a very bitter cough mixture. Theconsequences would be dire if I were to skip even once. Thankfully, all thesewere not to last. By age t2, my body managed to somehow overcome theasthma and I recovered completely. It was a miracle and I could not thankenough those who had helped me. Doctors had told my parents that if I did notovercome the illness by that age, I would have had it for life.Thankfully today, I could do everything a normal person could - 40
