There is no barrier to entry to this course but
candidates are strongly recommended to hold the
NEBOSH International General Certif icate or
equivalent or possess relevant industry experience
before studying this course.
Candidates with no direct experience in Oil and
Gas Operational Safety will be provided with
reference and pre-reader materials allowing for
further 50 hours of self-study prior to the
course. Candidates without the IGC or
offshore experience will be assessed based on
their CV and work experience before being
admitted to this course.
The assessment consists of one 2-hour written examination. All questions are compulsory and the candidates’ scripts are marked by
external examiners appointed by NEBOSH. The results are available 10 weeks after the exam, and the certificates are issued 8 weeks
after the results have been released.
This NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety has been designed for Managers, Engineers,
Supervisors, Employee Representatives, and newly appointed Health and Safety Advisers who seek to implement effective safety and
process safety management across all areas of operations within the oil and gas industry.

The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and
Gas Operational Safety will benefit Oil and Gas companies
working to international standards, who are seeking to

management across all areas of their operation.
The course covers the principles of Process Safety
Management in the Oil and Gas industries. The syllabus takes
a risk management approach based on best practice and
international industry standards. It focuses on international
standards and management systems, highl ighting the
importance of Process Safety Management in the Oil and Gas
industry, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace
safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore. It also provides
comprehensive technical information about the operational safety in
the Oil & Gas industry plus fundamental system safety including
specific oil & gas field’s hazards, safeguard and isolation.
Training will be delivered over a 5-day period with examinations on
the final day. All instruction is in English.

John Reynolds specializes in the delivery of the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety. John has had a varied career which includes extensive practical experience of managing the operations of a company which specialized in the import / export of Bulk Liquid Products.
Having begun his training career during his eight years serving in HM Armed Forces, John has expanded into Health and Safety, and also more specifically Oil and Gas Operational Safety, training courses for companies which include BP, Texaco and Shell among others. He have conducted Training & Assessment of operational staff at managed terminals and third party sites including Chevron, Texaco, Exxon, Conoco, Shell, Topaz, Simon Storage & Humberside Airport, assist in the development of training material including bespoke packages covering emergency response & control room operations for Exxon.
