    Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dan Salam Sejahtera

    Sekalung TAHNIAH diucapkan kepada mahasiswa dan mahasiswi yang telah terpilih untuk mengikuti program yang ditawarkan di Fakulti Kejuruteraan pada Sesi Akademi 2019/2020 dan kedatangan anda ke Fakulti Kejuruteraan adalah amat dialu-alukan.

    Fakulti Kejuruteraan menawarkan empat (4) program setakat ini iaitu Program Kejuruteraan Sivil, Program Kejuruteraan Mekanikal, Program Kejuruteraan Elektrikal dan Elektronik, Program Kejuruteraan Kimia. Semua program kejuruteraan yang ditawarkan mendapat pengiktirafan daripada Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia. Program-program tersebut telah melahirkan ramai graduan yang telah berjaya dalam bidang masing-masing semenjak penubuhan Fakulti Kejuruteraan pada tahun 1993.

    Fakulti Kejuruteraan turut menawarkan program Sarjana secara Kerja Kursus iaitu Program Sarjana Kejuruteraan Sivil, Sarjana Kejuruteraan Sistem Komunikasi dan Sarjana Kejuruteraan Mekanikal sementara program-program lain peringkat siswazah yang ditawarkan oleh Fakulti Kejuruteraan adalah program Sarjana dan PhD secara penyelidikan. Tujuan program- program tersebut ditawarkan adalah untuk melahirkan graduan-graduan yang berkebolehan menghadapi cabaran dalam memacu pembangunan pada masa hadapan serta berkebolehan menggunakan teknologi terkini dalam usaha membangunkan negara.

    Banyak aktiviti (akademik atau bukan akademik) telah dijalankan dalam usaha mempertingkatkan kualiti pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Fakulti Kejuruteraan amat aktif dalam menggunakan salah satu daripada kaedah pembelajaran iaitu kaedah OBE (Outcome Based Education) bagi memastikan keberkesanan setiap program yang ditawarkan. Kaedah pembelajaran yang ditawarkan juga memberi pendedahan khas kepada pelajar-pelajar untuk berkongsi pengalaman serta memberi kesedaran mengenai persediaan-persediaan yang mereka harus ada sebelum memasuki alam pekerjaan yang lebih mencabar.

    Pihak fakulti akan sentiasa memberi kerjasama serta dorongan di sepanjang pengajian anda di UNIMAS.

    Sejarah Fakulti / faculty historyFakulti Kejuruteraan merupakan salah sebuah fakulti daripada lapan buah fakulti yang wujud di UNIMAS. Ia ditubuhkan pada 30 Disember 1993. Seawal penubuhan, Fakulti Kejuruteraan telah menawarkan dua buah program pengajian iaitu Kejuruteraan Sivil dan Kejuruteraan Elektronik dan Telekomunikasi dengan pengambilan pertamanya pada sesi akademik Julai 1994. Pada tahun 1996, program Kejuruteraan Mekanikal dan Pembuatan telah ditawarkan dan disusuli dengan penawaran program Kejuruteraan Elektronik dan Komputer pada Mei 2000 bagi memenuhi keperluan serta pembangunan dalam bidang kejuruteraan. Program Kejuruteraan Kimia mula ditawarkan pada sesi akademik 2009 dan terkini Fakulti Kejuruteraan dengan bangganya telah menubuhkan satu lagi program baharu iaitu Program Kejuruteraan Elektrikal dan Elektronik bagi melahirkan lebih banyak graduan yang akan menjadi pemangkin dan penyumbang kepada sektor ekonomi.

    Faculty of Engineering is one of the eight faculties in UNIMAS. It was established on 30 December 1993. On its establishment, Faculty of Engineering offered two undergraduate programmes, which are Civil Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication and received its first admission in July 1994 academic session. In 1996, the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering programme was introduced, followed by offering of Electronics and Computer programme starting May 2000 to fulfill the demand and development in the engineering fields. Chemical Engineering programme was offered in 2009 academic session and now the Faculty of Engineering has proudly introduce the Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme to produce more qualified graduates who will be the catalyst and contributor to the advancement of Engineering profession and the economic sector.

    STRUKTUR AKADEMIK / aCademiC struCture

    Struktur Program / Programme structure

    Setiap program pengajian di UNIMAS telah direkabentuk menurut kurikulum yang berasaskan kepada pembangunan individu secara total sebagai warga yang berautonomi tetapi saling bekerjasama dalam masyarakat. Struktur program pengajian mengandungi kursus-kursus menurut kategori berikut:

    Each program at UNIMAS has been designed in accordance with the curriculum that is based on individual development as an autonomous citizen but working together in the community. The structure of the program consists of courses in the following categories:

    Kursus Teras / Core Course

    Kursus-kursus yang memberikan pengetahuan dan kemahiran ke arah pengkhususan dalam sesuatu bidang atau lapangan yang dituntut bagi sesuatu Program. (Setiap Program bukan sahaja tertumpu kepada teori dan amalan pengkhususannya, tetapi penekanan diberi kepada aspek teknologi dan pengurusan) [112+ kredit]

    The courses provide knowledge and skills specializes in a particular field required for a program. (Each program not only focuses on the theory and practice of specialization, but the focus is on technology and management) [112+ credit]

    Mata pelajaran Umum / general education subjectsMata Pelajaran Umum adalah kursus wajib universiti yang perlu diambil bagi tujuan pengijazahan. Kursus-kursus dibawah kategori MPU dilihat mampu untuk melahirkan graduan yang holistic, menghayati nilai-nilai patriotism dan jati diri beracuan Malaysia serta menguasai kemahiran insaniah ke arah memenuhi kebolehpasaran kerja. Kod kursus dibawah kategori ini bermula dengan MPU.

    General Education Subjects are compulsory university courses which is the pre-requisite for the undergraduate award. Courses under the category of MPU are seen to be able to produce holistic graduates, appreciate the values of patriotism and Malaysian-born identity and mastering soft skills towards fulfilling job-oriented skills. The course code under this category starts with MPU.

    Kursus Elektif Universiti / university elective Courses

    Kursus-kursus pilihan antara Fakulti yang memberi peluang kepada pelajar untuk mendalami satu bidang lain selain daripada jurusan pengkhususannya, hingga ke tahap yang bererti dan memuaskan. [9 kredit]

    Courses from other faculties that provide opportunities for students to explore another area of study beside its own specialization, to the extent that is meaningful and satisfying. [9 credits]

    Sistem Semester dan Kursus Bermodul / semester system and modular courses

    Struktur pengajian di UNIMAS diasaskan kepada semester dengan kursus bermodul. Setiap tahun pengajian dibahagikan kepada dua semester:

    Structural studies at UNIMAS based on semesters with modular courses. Each academic year is divided into two semesters:Semester 1 14 WeeksSemester 2 14 Weeks

    Kursus di UNIMAS berbentuk modul, dan setiap modul mempunyai unit-unit pembelajaran tertentu. Setiap modul kursus mempunyai nilai kredit. Sebagai panduan, satu kredit memerlukan pelajar menumpukan kira-kira 3 jam pembelajaran seminggu bagi kursus berkenaan. Masa tersebut digunakan untuk aktiviti formal seperti kuliah, tutorial, amali dan/atau ujian, serta aktiviti kendalian sendiri seperti membaca, berbincang dan menyiapkan tugasan yang diperlukan oleh kursus tersebut.

    Courses offered in UNIMAS is in module system, and each module has specific learning units. Each module has a credit value of the course. As a guide, a credit requires students to devote about 3 hours of learning per week for the course. Time is used for informal activities such as lectures, tutorials, lab and / or test, as well as its own operating activities, such as reading, discussing, and complete assignments required by the course.

    Pendaftaran Kursus / Course registration

    Pendaftaran bagi semua kursus perlu dilakukan pada masa dan tempoh yang ditentukan. Pelajar diwajibkan mendaftar pada tarikh dan tempoh masa yang akan diumumkan oleh Bahagian Pengajian Prasiswazah.

    Registration for all courses must be done on time and within a specified period. Students are required to register within the time stipulated by the Undergraduate Studies Division.

    Pindah Kredit / Credit transfer

    Pindah Kredit hendaklah dipohon sebelum berakhir minggu kedua perkuliahan dan sebarang permohonan selepas tempoh yang telah ditetapkan tidak akan dipertimbangkan. Permohonan Pindah Kredit hendaklah dibuat dengan mengisi Borang BPPs-03 dan disahkan oleh Ketua Jabatan sebelum dihantar untuk mendapat kelulusan daripada Dekan Fakulti Kejuruteraan.

    Credit Transfer need to be applied before the end of the second week of lectures and any application after the stated period will not be considered. The application of credit transfer shall be made by filling out the form BPPS-03 and certified by the Head of Department before being submitted for approval by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

    Tempoh Pengajian (4 Tahun) / duration of study (4 years)

    Program yang ditawarkan oleh Fakulti Kejuruteraan mempunyai tempoh pengajian 4 tahun iaitu bersamaan dengan 8 semester.

    Programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering has a duration of 4 years which is equivalent to 8 semesters.

    Penilaian / evaluation

    Prestasi dalam sesuatu kursus dinilai menurut beberapa kaedah, secara berterusan, termasuk penilaian kerja kursus, tugasan, ujian dan peperiksaan. Prestasi itu ditentukan menurut sistem Purata Nilai Gred (PNG), dan prestasi pelajar bagi setiap peringkat dan keseluruhan diberikan sebagai Purata Nilai Gred Kumulatif (PNGK).

    Performance in a course shall be assessed continuously according to several methods, including

    course work, assignments, tests and examinations. Performance is determined based on Grade Point Average (GPA), and the performance of students in each level and overall given as a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Kehadiran Pelajar Ke Kuliah / student attendance to lectures

    Fakulti Kejuruteraan menitikberatkan kehadiran pelajar ke kuliah/tutorial/amali. Pelajar yang mempunyai kehadiran kurang daripada 80% tidak akan dibenarkan mengambil peperiksaan semester kecuali pelajar mempunyai sebab yang munasabah atas ketidakhadiran dan tertakluk kepada keputusan Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Fakulti. (Berdasarkan perkara 4.4.1 kelulusan Senat Bil. 5/2008 ke 93 pada 5 Nov 2008)

    Faculty of Engineering emphasizes student attendance to lectures / tutorials / practicals. Students who have less than 80% attendance will not be allowed to seat for final exams unless the student has a valid reason for the absences and subject to the decision of the Management Committee of the Faculty. (Based on 4.4.1 the approval of the Senate bill. 5/2008 to 93 in November 5, 2008)

    UNIMAS sentiasa memberi keutamaan kepada kecemerlangan akademik serta pembangunan sahsiah setiap pelajar. Salah satu pendekatan yang boleh membantu untuk merealisasikan matlamat tersebut ialah dengan mewujudkan hubungan dua hala antara pelajar dan pengajar di setiap fakulti melalui sistem mentor - mentee. Melalui sistem ini, pelajar (mentee) diberi bimbingan dan nasihat oleh pensyarah (mentor) dalam pelbagai aspek terutamanya yang berkaitan dengan hal ehwal akademik. Sistem ini juga mengambil berat terhadap bimbingan lain yang diperlukan oleh pelajar untuk mengharungi cabaran bukan sahaja sebagai seorang pelajar tetapi juga sebagai seorang remaja yang menghadapi perubahan psikologi dan identiti. Mentor memainkan peranan yang penting sebagai Penasihat (Advisor) dan juga Contoh Teladan yang Baik (Positive Role Model) kepada mentee dalam pelbagai aspek. Keberkesanan sistem ini amatlah bergantung kepada komitmen serta kerjasama di antara kedua-dua pihak.

    Melaluinya, pelajar dapat diberi bimbingan dan menerima nasihat dalam hal ehwal akademik serta dapat mengenalpasti masalah berkaitan yang boleh menimbulkan masalah akademik untuk dirujuk kepada pihak tertentu yang mempunyai kepakaran untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi.

    Seorang Penasihat Akademik/mentor boleh membantu pelajar merancang skema pengajian, membuat pemilihan kursus, memahami kurikulum, sistem semester, sistem pendaftaran, sistem peperiksaan dan pengecualian kursus.

    Pelajar digalakkan berjumpa terus dengan Penasihat Akademik/mentor masing-masing untuk mendapatkan bimbingan dan nasihat dalam hal ehwal akademik dan masalah berkaitan. Temujanji boleh dilakukan dengan Penasihat Akademik mengikut kesesuaian masa yang telah ditetapkan.

    UNIMAS always accentuates the important of academic excellent and personal development of each student. One of the techniques in achieving these aims is by establishing a mutual interrelationship between the student and lecturer in mentor-mentee system in which is already implemented in every faculty in this university. In this system, the student (mentee) is provided with guidance and advice in various aspects by a lecturer (mentor) especially those related to the academic. The system also imparts other guidance needed by the student in confronting the challenges not only as a student but also as a teenager coping with psychological and identity changes. Mentor not only performs an important role as advisor but also as Positive Role Models to the mentee in various aspects. The effectiveness of this system depends immensely on the commitment and cooperation of both mentor and mentee.

    In which, in this system, the mentee’s academic affairs is guided and advised as well as identifying any problem that could lead to academic problems. Should there be any problem, the mentee will be referred to other relevant expert in order to unravel and solve the problems.

    An academic mentor is able to help mentee of planning a study scheme, selecting courses, understand the curriculum, semester system, registration, examination and course exemption.

    The mentee is encouraged to meet their academic mentor personally for guidance and advices in academic affairs and other related problems in which an appointment should be made with the academic mentor prior to the meeting.

    Tugas-tugas mentor adalah seperti berikut: Academic Mentor tasks are as follows:

    • Membuat perjumpaan dengan mentee – sekurang-kurangnya 2-3 kali sebulan. Set appointments with mentee of at least 2 to 3 times a month.

    • Memantau kemajuan akademik serta perkembangan semasa setiap mentee. Monitor academic progress and development for each mentee.

    • Mendengar serta memberi bimbingan kepada mentee sekiranya bermasalah. Listen and provide guidance to mentee with problem.

    • Menjaga perkara-perkara yang sulit mengenai mentee. Secure mentee confidential matters.

    • Merujuk mentee kepada pakar-pakar yang sesuai berhubung penyelesaian masalah-masalah yang khusus. Refer mentee to appropriate experts for specific problem solving.

    • Membantu mentee membuat keputusan dalam hal perancangan akademik dan kerjaya. Assist mentee to make decisions with regards to academic and career planning.

    • Menjaga hubungan baik dengan mentee supaya sistem mentor-mentee ini dapat dilaksanakan dengan berkesan. Retain a good relationship with mentee for an effective implementation of mentor-mentee system.

    • Menyerah slip keputusan peperiksaan kepada mentee pada setiap semester. Disseminate results slip to mentee for every semester.

    LATIHAN INDUSTRI / industrial training

    Pengenalan / introduction

    Pelajar-pelajar yang mengikuti semua program Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan (Kepujian) adalah diwajibkan menjalani Latihan Industri selama 10 minggu pada tempoh Antarsesi Tahun 3. Perlaksanaan Latihan Industri merangkumi praktikal di industri, penyediaan laporan dan pembentangan serta pemberian markah diadakan dalam satu semester.

    Students are required to have a 10 weeks industrial training during their third year, third semester. The industrial training includes an attachment in industry, report preparation and an oral presentation.

    Tujuan Latihan Industri / aims of industrial training

    a) Mendedahkan pelajar kepada pengalaman dan pengetahuan kejuruteraan yang bersesuaian dan juga kegiatan-kegiatan penyelidikan yang tidak terdapat di bilik-bilik kuliah;

    To expose students to real world engineering industrial experience in compliment with classroom activities;

    b) Membandingkan dan mengamalkan apa yang dipelajari semasa kuliah dengan keadaan sebenar di luar kuliah;

    To allow students to compare and practice knowledge acquired from classroom in real world situation;

    c) Mengemukakan pengalaman-pengalaman yang diperolehi semasa Latihan Industri dalam perbincangan di bilik kuliah pada tahun pengajian seterusnya;

    To allow students to share their experience from industrial at the next semester;

    d) Menyesuaikan pelajar-pelajar dengan alam pekerjaan yang akan ditempuh selepas tamat pengajian;

    To prepare students to real working experience after graduation;

    e) Mendapat pengalaman dalam membuat laporan kerja-kerja kejuruteraan; To provide students with experience in preparing engineering report;

    f) Mendedahkan pelajar kepada tanggungjawab jurutera dan etika kejuruteraan. To expose students to engineering ethic and the responsibility as an engineer;

    g) Mendedahkan pelajar kepada bakal-bakal majikan supaya majikan juga dapat mengetahui dengan lebih mendalam program latihan di Universiti Malaysia Sarawak;

    To expose students to future employers in such that the employers can have a better understanding of academic programs in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak;

    Dengan pengalaman dan pengetahuan, diharap para graduan akan dapat memilih pekerjaan yang bersesuaian dengan minat mereka apabila tamat pengajian kelak.

    PROJEK TAHUN AKHIR / final year ProJeCt

    Pengenalan / introduction

    Pelajar-pelajar yang mengikuti semua program Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan (Kepujian) adalah diwajibkan untuk menyiapkan Projek Tahun Akhir sebelum bergraduat. Projek Tahun Akhir akan dibahagikan kepada dua bahagian iaitu Projek Tahun Akhir 1 dan Projek Tahun Akhir 2. Projek Tahun Akhir 1 akan diambil pada Semester 1 Tahun 4 manakala Projek Tahun Akhir 2 akan diambil pada Semester 2 Tahun 4.

    Final Year Project is among the compulsory subjects for students to complete a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Hons), UNIMAS. The Final Year Project is divided into two sections which will be carried out in Semester 1 known as FYP 1 and Semester 2 known as FYP 2, in Year 4 respectively.

    PERSATUAN PELAJAR FAKULTI KEJURUTERAAN (SAFE) /student assoCiation of faCulty engineering (safe)

    Persatuan Pelajar Fakulti Kejuruteraan (SAFE) telah didaftarkan di Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni (BHEP&A) UNIMAS dan telah diiktiraf sebagai penerima Anugerah Persatuan Fakulti Terbaik pada Malam Anugerah Pelajar 2007 di bawah kelolaan Dr Abd Razak Abd Karim. Persatuan ini telah bergiat aktif dalam aktiviti dalaman mahupun aktiviti luaran yang telah dianjurkan oleh BHEP&A, UNIMAS. Seterusnya pada tahun 2010, SAFE sekali lagi menerima Anugerah Persatuan Fakulti Terbaik pada Malam Anugerah Pelajar 2010 bawah kelolaan Puan Kasumawati Binti Lias, Encik Aidil Azli Bin Alias dan Encik Ron Aldrino Chan sebagai penasihat SAFE. Selain itu, SAFE turut menyumbang kepada kejuaraan Fakulti Kejuruteraan dalam Kejohanan Sukan UNIMAS (KESUMAS) pada tahun 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 dan 2015.

    Peringkat awal penubuhan bermula atas inisiatif Prof Madya Dr Awangku Abd Rahman bin Pgn Hj Yusof sebagai Penasihat Pemajuan Pelajar bagi pihak Dekan Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan dikelolai oleh Penasihat Persatuan iaitu Prof Madya Dr Azhaili Baharun. Keahlian persatuan dibuka kepada semua pelajar yang berdaftar di Fakulti Kejuruteraan secara automatik. Ahli-ahli persatuan haruslah bersedia memberi sumbangan dalam segala aspek bagi memastikan objektif persatuan tercapai lebih-lebih lagi bagi mereka yang telah terpilih dan dilantik memegang jawatan-jawatan eksekutif dalam persatuan.

    Pada tahun 2010, SAFE dengan kerjasama IEM G & S Sarawak Branch yang dipengerusikan oleh Encik Ron Aldrino Chan telah bersama menubuhkan IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section. Penasihat pertama IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section adalah Puan Kasumawati Binti Lias dan Encik Aidil Azli Bin Alias. Penasihat sekarang adalah Puan Dyg Nur Salmi Dharmiza Binti Awg Salleh. Manakala, IEM Student UNIMAS Chapter berada di bawah kelolaan En Mohd Azrin bin Mohd Said. Pelbagai aktiviti tahunan telah dan akan dijalankan oleh SAFE dan IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section seperti Hari Aluan Fakulti bersama pelajar-pelajar baharu, Program Minggu Hijau, Program Minggu Kejuruteraan, Piala Dekan Fakulti Kejuruteraan, Program Motivasi bersama pelajar- pelajar Sekolah Rendah dan Menengah serta lawatan ke industri.

    Student Association of Faculty Engineering (SAFE) had been registered in the Student Affairs Division & Alumni (BHEPA) UNIMAS and was awarded as The Best Faculty 2007 at Student Award Ceremony 2007 under the supervision of Mr. Abd Razak Abd Karim. The association has participated actively in inter-university or intra-university activities organised by BHEPA, UNIMAS. In year 2010, SAFE once again was awarded as The Best Faculty at Student Award Ceremony 2010 under the supervision of three advisors Mdm Kasumawati Binti Lias, Mr Aidil Azli Bin Alias and Mr Ron Aldrino Chan. Besides, SAFE also contributes to the faculty in becoming the champion for KESUMAS in year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015.

    The association was established and initiated by Prof Madya Dr Awangku Abd Rahman bin Pgn Hj Yusof who was the advisor of the students’ development on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof Madya Dr Azhaili Baharun. Memberships for the association is automatically open to all students registered under the Faculty of Engineering. The members of the association especially for those who were selected and appointed for executive positions in the association must be willing to contribute in all aspects to ensure that the objectives of the association can be achieved.

    In 2010, with the help of IEM G&S Sarawak Branch which was chaired by Mr. Ron Aldrino Chan, SAFE has succesfully established the IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section. The first advisor for IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section were Mdm Kasumawati Binti Lias and Mr Aidil Azli Bin Alias. The current advisor is Mdm Dyg Nur Dharmiza Binti Awg Salleh Salmi. Meanwhile, IEM Student UNIMAS Chapter is under the supervision of Mr Mohd Azrin bin Mohd Said. Various activities had been carried out annually by SAFE and IEM-SAFE UNIMAS Student Section such as Faculty Orientation Day, Green Week, Engineering Week, FENG Dean Cup, Motivational programs with primary and secondary school students and also industrial/technical visits.

    1.0 Penubuhan Program / Programme establishment

    Pengetahuan dalam kejuruteraan sivil adalah penting untuk melahirkan insan yang kompeten dan berilmu bagi kerja-kerja perancangan, rekabentuk, pembinaan serta pengendalian operasi struktur bangunan, jambatan, pelabuhan, empangan, stesen janakuasa, lebuhraya, landasan keretapi, lapangan terbang, sistem bekalan air, pembuangan sisa, pembentungan serta kawalan banjir dan hakisan. Objektif utama program Kejuruteraan Sivil adalah untuk memenuhi keperluan negara terhadap jurutera-jurutera yang mempunyai pendidikan, latihan dan pengkhususan yang bersepadu dalam bidang kejuruteraan awam yang bertambah sejajar dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi dan proses perindustrian yang pesat sekarang. Ia juga bertujuan melahirkan jurutera yang cekap, bertanggungjawab dan berpandangan jauh serta mempamerkan khidmat profesional yang bermutu tinggi.

    Knowledge in Civil Engineering is important in developing highly competent and technically sound engineers in planning, design, construction and operation of building structures, bridges, wharves, dams, power stations, highways, railways, airports, water distribution system, solid waste, wastewater, and flood mitigation and erosion. The main objective of Civil Engineering programme is to meet the nation’s aspiration of having educated, trained and specialized engineers capable of integrating various Civil Engineering fields aligned with the current rapid economic and industrial development growth. The programme is also aimed at generating highly competent, responsible, forward looking and professionalism in the engineering field.

    Geotechnical engineers are responsible to identify the earth subsurface structures, in which are the foundations to construction of engineering structures such as buildings, retaining walls, underground pipelines, tunnels and dams. Designs of these structures depend largely on the strength and geologic properties of soil layers, as well as other factors related to safety and economy.

    (ii) Kejuruteraan Pembinaan / Construction EngineeringJurutera pembinaan menyelia sesebuah projek kejuruteraan daripada peringkat perancangan sehingga penyiapan projek tersebut. Mereka bertanggungjawab agar projek tersebut dijalankan mengikut perancangan, dalam tempoh dan kos yang diberikan, serta menurut spesifikasi. Mereka merancang beban dan jadual kerja untuk memastikan projek tersebut berjalan lancar dan menjimatkan kos. Mereka kena sentiasa peka terhadap suasana projek yang sentiasa berubah supaya sumber bahan dan tenaga yang ada dapat digunakan dalam cara yang paling berkesan.

    Construction engineers overlook an engineering project from planning stage until completion stage of the project. It is their responsibility to ensure the project is conducted as per planned and within the allocated time and budget, and conformed to given specifications. They manage the workloads and work schedules to ensure that the project runs smoothly and financially sound. They have to be responsive to ever changing natures of the construction processes as the project progresses to make sure the resources and workforce are utilized efficiently.

    (iii) Kejuruteraan Struktur / Structural EngineeringJurutera struktur ditugaskan untuk merekabentuk struktur- struktur seperti jambatan, bangunan dan stesen janakuasa. Mereka menggunakan bahan-bahan seperti keluli, kayu dan konkrit, dan lazimnya bekerjasama dengan arkitek untuk memastikan struktur indah yang diilhamkan oleh arkitek dapat dibina dan selamat untuk kegunaan atau kediaman manusia.

    Structural engineers are responsible to design structures such as bridges, buildings and power stations. They utilize materials like steel, timber and concrete and work with architects in ensuring the beautiful structures inspired by architects are securely built for occupation.

    (iv) Kejuruteraan Sumber Air / Water Resources EngineeringJurutera-jurutera sumber air menganalisa dan merekabentuk takungan dan bekalan air, sistem penyaliran, empangan, struktur-struktur kejuruteraan sungai, stesen pengepam serta kerja-kerja lain yang berkaitan dengan kejuruteraan sungai dan pantai.

    Water resources engineers analyze the availability and reliability of water sources and design reservoirs, distribution system, dams, water engineering structures, pump stations and other projects related to river and coastal engineering.

    (v) Kejuruteraan Pengangkutan / Transportation EngineeringKejuruteraan pengangkutan menggunakan prinsip-prinsip saintifik dan teknologi dalam perancangan, reka bentuk berfungsi, operasi dan pengurusan kemudahan untuk sebarang mod pengangkutan. Ini untuk memastikan prasarana yang disediakan adalah selamat, cekap, cepat, selesa, mudah, ekonomi, serta mesra alam dalam mengangkut manusia dan barangan.

    Transportation engineering is the application of technology and scientific principles to the planning, functional design, operation and management of facilities for any mode of transportation in order to provide safe, efficient, rapid, comfortable, convenient, economical, and environmentally compatible for the movement of people and goods.

    1.0 Penubuhan Program / Programme establishment

    Keperluan tenaga kerja dalam bidang Kejuruteraan Mekanikal dan Pembuatan sememangnya amat diperlukan sejajar dengan kedudukannya sebagai bidang pengajian yang tertua, terbesar dan terluas di kalangan negara-negara membangun. Kejuruteraan ini mempunyai pengkhususan yang amat luas merangkumi keperluan tenaga dan petroleum, kajian bahan-bahan, sistem rekabentuk, kajian bendalir dan pengkhususan dalam proses pembuatan. Kajian-kajian ini merupakan nadi kepada pertumbuhan industri dan teknologi. Malaysia sebagai sebuah negara yang membangun pesat amat memerlukan graduan dalam bidang kejuruteraan ini untuk memastikan pembangunan yang berterusan demi mencapai pertumbuhan ekonomi dan industri yang terjamin pada masa akan datang.

    Selain itu, berdasarkan Pelan Induk Perindustrian Ketiga (IMP3), Malaysia dijangka merangka strategi untuk mencapai daya saing global jangka panjang melalui transformasi dan inovasi sektor pembuatan dan perkhidmatan yang selari dengan penubuhan program kejuruteraan ini.

    Program ini bermatlamat untuk mengeluarkan graduan yang mantap dan mampu untuk menghadapi cabaran dan perubahan dalam kemajuan sains dan teknologi, melahirkan graduan yang berfikiran kritikal dan mempunyai daya penyelesaian masalah yang tinggi, mempersiapkan graduan dengan menunjukkan profesionalism, nilai etika yang mulia serta bermoral di samping berjaya menerapkan ilmu yang dibekalkan, serta melahirkan graduan yang mempunyai daya kepimpinan serta ketrampilan diri yang tinggi, proaktif serta peka kepada keperluan masyarakat dari semasa ke semasa, dan berpandangan jauh untuk menyokong pertumbuhan negara melalui bidang penyelidikan dan pembangunan.

    Work force in the field of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is extremely required; this is in accordance with its position as one of the oldest, biggest and widest field of studies in developed countries. This field of engineering covers a wide scope of specialization, including energy and petroleum, materials research, systems design, fluid mechanics research and manufacturing. These research areas are important for the development of industries and technologies. Malaysia, as developing nation requires graduates in the field of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure continuous development to achieve a strong economic and industrial growth in the future.

    In addition, according to the Third Industrial Master Plan (IMP3), Malaysia is expected to draft a strategy to achieve long term global competitiveness through transformation and innovation of the manufacturing and service sectors; this is in-line with the development of this programme.

    This programme aims to produce graduates who are capable of facing challenges and changes in science and technology, with critical thinking and higher problem solving skills. This program also aims to equip graduates with attributes that include professionalism, ethics and moral values; in addition to the graduates capable of applying the engineering knowledge.     2.0 matlamat Program / Programme objectives

    Matlamat program ini adalah untuk menyediakan bakal jurutera-jurutera yang berkebolehan, cekap dan berkaliber berdasarkan matlamat program; Programme Objective (PEO) seperti berikut.

    This programme aims to prepare future graduates with traits as outlined in the following Programme Objective (PEO).

    Peo1 Uphold the professionalism and ethics of the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering profession in national and/or international area.

    Peo2 Enhance knowledge by practicing independence and life-long learning in order to contribute to the advancement of the profession through involvement in research and development activities.

    Peo3 Promote multicultural harmony and unity amongst different races and cultures through involvement in the technical and/or non-technical societies.

Jurutera Mekanikal boleh menceburi pelbagai sektor seperti sektor teknologi dan industri pembuatan dan proses, industri rekabentuk sistem mekanikal, produk fabrikasi logam, produk getah dan plastik, industri automotif, industri elektrik dan elektronik serta industri minyak dan gas.

    Careers as a Mechanical Engineer are diverse which includes conducting research, giving advice and designing machineries, plants and industrial equipment. They are also responsible for the development of industrial systems, ensuring that the systems function, as well as maintaining the systems. Mechanical Engineers also conduct research and give consultations on materials’ technology and processes, as well as certain maintenance procedures. Mechanical engineers could practice in sectors that include technology, manufacturing and process, mechanical system design, metal fabrication, rubber and plastic, automotive, electrical and electronic and oil and gas.

Antara kerjaya utama bagi seorang graduan program kejuruteraan pembuatan adalah bertugas sebagai jurutera Pembuatan di bahagian perancangan dan kawalan mutu, keselamatan industri, penyelenggaraan, atau rekabentuk pengeluaran di firma-firma tempatan dan antarabangsa.

    Careers as a Manufacturing Engineer are also diverse and highly demanded by the manufacturing industry. Manufacturing Engineers have high level of technical expertise and skills, which they utilize to plan, design, set-up, modify, optimize and monitor manufacturing processes. Amongst others, a Manufacturing Engineer could work in the quality planning & control section, industrial safety, maintenance or design new systems and processes in local or international companies.

    1.0 Penubuhan Program / Programme Establishment

    Kejuruteraan elektrikal dan elektronik adalah satu bidang professional yang penting di Malaysia di mana ia telah dikenalpasti sebagai pemangkin kepada aktiviti-aktiviti awam, swasta ataupun keperluan sektor-sektor industri elektrikal dan elektronik yang boleh menyumbang kepada ekonomi negara. Dengan adanya program ini, adalah diharapkan ia dapat menampung masalah kekurangan tenaga professional dalam bidang kritikal ini.

    Electrical and electronics engineering is an important field of professional Malaysia where it has been identified as the catalytic activities of public or private sector needs electrical and electronics industry that can contribute to the national economy. With this program, it is hoped that it can accommodate the shortage of professionals in this critical field.

    2.0 Matlamat Program / Program Objectives

    Matlamat program ini adalah untuk menyediakan bakal jurutera yang berkebolehan, cekap dan berkaliber berdasarkan Programme Objective (PEO) Jabatan seperti berikut:

    4.0 Konsep Penubuhan Program / Programme Concepts

    Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak telah mengumumkan koridor ekonomi baru iaitu Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) yang berpusat di sepanjang pantai dari Tanjung Manis ke Samalaju. UNIMAS selaku sebuah pusat penyelidikan dan pembangunan sumber manusia di negara ini, telah terpanggil untuk memperhebatkan pembangunan modal insan khususnya jurutera di dalam bidang elektrikal dan elektronik bagi menampung keperluan tenaga mahir dan professional. Program kejuruteraan elektrikal dan elektronik ini ditawarkan bagi melahirkan graduan yang memenuhi keperluan tenaga manusia dalam sector kejuruteraan penjanaan, pengagihan dan penghantaran kuasa, kejuruteraan elektrik dan elektronik yang lain.

    Sarawak state government has announced a new economic corridor Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) which is centered along the coast from Tanjung Manis to Samalaju. UNIMAS as a center of research and development of human resource in the country, has called for human capital development especially in the field of electrical and electronics engineering to accommodate skilled workers and professional purposes. Electrical and electronics program is offered for to produce graduate that meets the needs of manpower in electrical and electronics sector and power generation, distribution and delivery sector.
