    Bijih timah yang biasa digunakan adalah bijih dengan kandungan 0,8-1% (persenberat) timah

    Biji timah dihancurkan dan kemudian dipisahkan dari material-material yang tidakdiperlukan

    Biji timah kemudian dikeringkan dan dilewatkan dalam alat pemisah magnetiksehingga kita dapat memisahkan biji timah dari impuritas yang berupa logam besi.

    Biji timah yang keluar berupa Cassiterite

    Cassiterite selanjutnya diletakkan dalam furnace bersama dengan karbon ,dipanaskan pada suhu 1400 C

    Karbon bereaksi dengan CO2 yang ada didalam furnace membentuk CO, CO inikemudian bereaksi dengan cassiterite membentuk timah dan karbondioksida.

    Logam timah dipisahkan, kemudian dielektrolisis untuk mendapatkan timahdengan kemurnian tinggi
