Matematika realistik adalah matematika sekolah
yang dilaksanakan dengan menempatkan realitas
dan pengalaman siswa sebagai titik awal
pembelajaran (Zainurie,2007).

Hans Freudenthal
psychologist, mathematician, founder
of the Dutch New Math Movement.
Main idea: each individual
discovers mathematical structures in
its own living environment and creates
a personal concept of mathematics.
This is the principle of „Guided
Reinvention‟.
(Freudenthal, 1968).

The use of context (menggunakan konteks).
Use models, bridging by vertical instrument
(menggunakan model)
Students constribution (menggunakan kontribusi
siswa)
Interactivity (interaktif)
Intertwining (terintegrasi dengan topik
pembelajaran lainnya)

Figure 3. Levels of models in RME (Gravenmejer, 1994)
•The situational level, where domain-specific, situational knowledge and
strategies are used within the context of the situation;
•A referential level or the level „model of‟, where models and strategies
refer to the situation described in the problem;
•A general level or the level „model for‟, where a mathematical focus on
strategies dominates over the reference to the context; and
•The level of formal mathematics, where one works with conventional
procedures and notations.
Student should be asked to produce
more concrete things. De Lange
(1995) stresses the fact that, by
making „free production‟, students
are forced to reflect o the path they
themselves have taken in their
learning process and, at the same
time, to anticipate its continuation.
Interaction between students and
between students and teachers is an
essential part in RME (de Lange,
1996; Gravenmeijer,1994).
In RME (de Lange, 1996;
Gravenmeijer, 1994), the
integration of mathematical
strands or units is essential.
Guided reinvention and progressive
mathematizing.
Didactical phenomenology.
Self-developed models.

Para pelajar diberi kesempatan untuk mengalami
proses yang sama dengan proses saat matematika
ditemukan. Sejarah matematika dapat dijadikan
sebagai sumber inspirasi dalam merancang materi
pelajaran. Untuk keperluan tersebut maka perlu
ditemukan masalah kontekstual yang dapat
menyediakan beragam prosedur penyelesaian
serta mengindikasikan rute pembelajaran yang
berangkat dari tingkat belajar matematika secara
nyata ke tingkat belajar matematika secara
formal (progressive mathematizing).
Penyajian topik-topik matematika
yang termuat dalam pembelajaran
matematika realistik disajikan atas
dua pertimbangan yaitu :
memunculkan ragam aplikasi yang
harus diantisipasi dalam proses
pembelajaran dan kesesuaiannya
sebagai hal yang berpengaruh dalam
proses progressive mathematizing.
Saat mengerjakan masalah
kontekstual siswa diberi kesempatan
untuk mengembangkan model
mereka sendiri yang berfungsi
sebagai jembatan antara
pengetahuan informal dan
matematika formal.
1. Memahami masalah kontekstual
2. Menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual
3. Membandingkan dan mendiskusikan
jawaban
4. Menarik kesimpulan

Prinsip kegiatan
Prinsip nyata
Prinsip bertahap
Prinsip saling menjalin
Prinsip interaksi
Prinsip bimbingan
(1) penemuan kembali terbimbing dan matematisasi
progresif
(2) permasalahan dengan pengalaman
(3) mengembangkan model-model sendiri
(4) memotivasi pelajar
(5)mengkomunikasi tujuan pembelajaran
(6) pengajaran secara interaktif
1. Siswa memiliki seperangkat konsep alternatif tentang ide-ide
matematika yang mempengaruhi belajar selanjutnya;
2. Siswa memperoleh pengetahuan baru dengan membentuk
pengetahuan itu untuk dirinya sendiri;
3. Pembentukan pengetahuan merupakan proses perubahan yang
meliputi penambahan, kreasi, modifikasi, penghalusan, penyusunan
kembali, dan penolakan;
4. Pengetahuan baru yang dibangun oleh siswa untuk dirinya sendiri
berasal dari seperangkat ragam pengalaman;
5. Setiap siswa tanpa memandang ras, budaya dan jenis kelamin
mampu memahami dan mengerjakan matematik (Zigma Edisi 10, 27
Juni 2007)
Memulai pelajaran dengan mengajukanmasalah (soal) yang “riil” bagi siswa sesuaidengan pengalaman dan tingkatpengetahuannya, sehingga siswa segeraterlibat dalam pelajaran secara bermakna;
the mathematics textbooks series;
the "Proeve"; a document which describes
the mathematical content to be taught in
primary school;
the key goals to be reached by the end of
primary school, described by the
government.
proeve ditulis dalam gaya yang sangat mudah dengan
banyak contoh, ia tidak terutamanya bertujuan
sebagai satu siri untuk guru-guru. Sebaliknya, ia
bukan bertujuan sebagai sokongan untuk penulis
buku teks, pengajar dan penasihat sekolah.
Sebaliknya, bagaimanapun, kebanyakan pakar-pakar
pendidikan matematik dan juga merupakan
penyumbang masih penting untuk merealisasikan siri
ini.
Table 1, KEY GOALS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL MATHEMATICS
General abilities
1 The students can count forward and backward with changing units.
2 The students can do addition tables and multiplication tables up to ten.
3 The students can do easy mental-arithmetic problems in a quick way with insight in the operations.
4 The students can estimate by determining the answer globally, also with fractions and decimals.
5 The students have insight in the structure of whole numbers and the place-value system of decimals.
6 The students can use the calculator with insight
7 The students can convert into a mathematical problem, simple problems which are not presented in a mathematical way.
Written algorithms
1 The students can apply the standard algorithms, or
variations of these, for the basic operations addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division, in easy
context situations.
Ratio and percentage
1 The students can compare ratios and percentages.
2 The students can do simple problems on ratio.
3 The students have understanding of the concept
percentage and can carry out practical calculations
with percentages presented in simple context
situations.
4 The students understand the relation between ratios,
fractions, and decimals.
Fractions
1 The students know that fractions and decimals can represent several
different situations
2 The students can locate fractions and decimals on a number line and can
convert fractions into decimals; also with the help of a calculator.
3The students can compare, add, subtract, devide, and multiply simple
fractions in simple context situations by means of models.
Measurement
1 The students can read the time and calculate time intervals; also with the
help of a calendar.
2 The students can do calculations with money in daily-life context situations.
3 The students have insight in the relation between the most important
quantities and the corresponding units of measurement.
4 The students know the current units of measurement for length, area,
volume, time, speed, weight, and temperature, and can apply these in
simple context situations.
5 The students can read simple tables and diagrams and produce them based
on own investigations of simple context situations.
Geometry

and data about place, direction, distance, and
scale.
3 The students can explain shadow images, can
compound shapes, and can devise and identify
nets of regular objects.
perhatian yang lebih diberikan kepada aritmetik
mental dan anggaran;
operasi formal dengan pecahan tidak apa-apa lagi
dalam kurikulum teras, pelajar hanya perlu untuk
melakukan operasi dengan pecahan dalam situasi
konteks;
geometri secara rasmi dimasukkan ke dalam
kurikulum sekarang;
dan yang sama adalah benar penggunaan berwawasan
kalkulator.
