The Eye on Malaysia, the largest portable observation wheel in the world, unveilsduring the grand launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2007 at Lake Titiwangsa Gardens on 6
January 2007. It is the highlight of the International WaterSky Spectacular being held at
Lake Titiwangsa. It brings the lake to life with magnificent pyrotechnics, choreographed
water ski performances, the first ever Theatre of Waters and captivating Malaysia
'Postcard' displays.
At 60 metres above the tropical waters of Lake Titiwangsa, Eye on Malaysia is a
feat of engineering - the first world wide overhanging a lake and the largest portable
wheel in the world. Quite similar to the famous London Eye, the giant ferris wheel has
been erected specially for VMY 2007. Other portable wheels are in Dubai, Australia and
Niagara Falls in the United States.
Lake Titiwangsa was the chosen location due to its strategic location, beautiful
setting and ideal flat surface. The Lake's popularity is set to grow exponentially and will
continue to be a tourist hotspot long after the VMY 2007 celebrations. The Eye on
Malaysia has 42 fully enclosed, air-conditioned capsules, including 1 VIP gondola. Eachcapsule holds up to eight guests and runs for 12 minute cycles.
The Eye on Malaysia is manufactured by Narta Bussink of Switzerland using
German-Swiss technology and standards, which are the highest in the world. It has been
approved by the German Technical Inspection Company (T.U.V).
Questions 30 34Read the speech below and answer the questions that follow.
Extracted from the Official Portal of Ministry of Tourism
