Collaboration with ICEpower — Direct Energy HD Amplifier

ICEpower and Pioneer have collaborated to develop a unique power module— the Direct Energy HD Amplifier. Pioneer's technologies have beencombined with the ICEpower amplifier which features multiple feedbacks toovercome the drawbacks typical of class D amplifiers. The SC line A/V pre-main amplifier and receivers are capable of delivering overwhelming power,free of distortion.

This year, the Direct Energy HD Amplifier has further evolved — fine-tuned to every detail including the LPF. The result is added power capacitywhich clearly shows in the sound. The units are compatible with the latesthigh definition audio formats, and the SC-LX90 and SC-LX83 are also THXUltra2 Plus certified.

Advanced Construction

The SC-LX83, SC-LX73, and VSX-LX53 inherit the separated constructionconcept of Pioneer's flagship SC-LX90 pre-main amplifier, providingreduced noise and interference for quality sound and video reproduction.

Hi-bit 32/Hi-sampling

These two technologies work together to create undistorted sound,bringing out the best in the new 32-bit DAC. The 32-bit DAC hardwarealone does not reproduce better sound. Maximum performance is gainedby applying the Hi-bit 32 processing to expand signal resolution, creatingmore detailed, smooth sound, closer to the original analogue signal. Hi-bit 32 also increases the sound pressure for a tactile listening experience,and the more channels you have, the more impressive it becomes. It iseffective for multi-channel content on DVD/Blu-ray Disc as well as CDaudio, and works with any disc player. Hi-sampling expands the range ofthe high frequencies, providing richly detailed, natural sound.

MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System)

Create the optimum acoustic environment with Pioneer's MCACC, developedwith the expertise of professional recording studios. The system — completewith custom microphone — automatically compensates for differences inspeaker size, level and distance, and equalises response.

Advanced MCACC

The Advanced MCACC uses a 3D calibration method with even more precisemeasurements by including the time axis. The A/V receivers also feature aspeaker polarity check for detecting misconnected cables, and a reverbmeasurement display for showing before/after calibration results (exceptSC-LX90). With the latest improvement, the system automatically measurescrossover frequency* — much easier than the previous manual setting — andalso lets you save measured data on USB memory for cable-less PC viewing*.* Except VSX-920-K

Phase Control

Phase Control is an innovative solution for the phase lag in a multi-channel speakersetting. It compensates the delayed bass to improve sound synchronisation.

Full Band Phase Control

The further advanced Full Band Phase Control technology focuses on the groupdelay in the speaker network filter, and compensates with special digital signalprocessing (DSP), to adjust the phase of each unit as well as the group delay for eachspeaker. Full Band Phase Control gives multi-range speakers the sound coherence offull-range speakers, while retaining the wide frequency range advantage.

Various Speaker Settings

Previous A/V receiver models only allowed surround back speakers for a 7.1-channel layout. Thisyear's lineup provides more options in terms of speaker placement. Combine front widespeakers with Pioneer-original Wide Surround mode to enjoy more spacious sound in the front.Wide Surround Movie provides motion feeling in front, while Wide Surround Music creates awide-spreading sound field in the foreground. Or place front height speakers and use DolbyPro Logic IIz for vertical-spreading sound. If you can only place 5.1-channel speakers, Pioneer'sVirtual Height/Surround Back modes offer an ideal solution. Each mode creates height/surroundback sound image without real speakers. The two modes can even be combined to enjoy virtual9.1-channel sound from 5.1-channel speaker settings. By adding front wide speakers, you canenjoy virtual 11.1-channel sound from 7.1-channel speaker layout.

Dolby Pro Logic IIz

Dolby Pro Logic IIz realises more spacious surround sound by adding front heightchannels to the conventional 5.1ch/7.1ch speaker settings. The enveloping soundwith additional depth and dimension creates a lifelike listening experience. DolbyPro Logic IIz does not require special contents, and works with existing soundtracks.

HDMI (V. 1.4a with 3D)

With Pioneer's new A/V receivers featuring HDMI V. 1.4a with3D technology, you can enjoy the latest Blu-ray 3D Discs,games, and broadcasts. All you need is a Blu-ray 3D compatibleplayer/game console and 3D compatible display.

Audio Return Channel (ARC)

The ARC feature allows a TV with built-in tuner to send audio data“upstream” to the A/V receiver via HDMI — so there’s no need for aseparate audio cable.

PQLS with HDMI

Pioneer's Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) eliminates distortioncaused by timing errors, giving the best possible digital-to-analogueconversion.

PQLS 2ch Audio

Through HDMI connection, the PQLS 2ch Audio allows accurate CD-DA signal transmission from a compatible Pioneer Blu-ray Disc player,reproducing jitter-free, dynamic sound.

PQLS Multi-Surround

Connected to a compatible Pioneer Blu-ray Disc player via HDMI, theSC-LX83, SC-LX73, and VSX-LX53 create ideal multi-channel audioplayback with jitter-free signal transmission and precise reproductionof minute details.

PQLS Bit-stream

This latest PQLS technology allows jitter-less bit-stream signaltransmission from a compatible Pioneer Blu-ray Disc player for CD audioand DVD/Blu-ray Disc multi-channel content, letting you enjoy three-dimensional sound full of detail.

Advanced Sound Retriever

Pioneer's latest A/V pre-main amplifier and receivers feature the AdvancedSound Retriever, which restores the output of compressed audio — such asWMA, MPEG-4 AAC, and MP3 — to the level of CD sound. The AdvancedSound Retriever creates new signals to restore the minor details left outduring the compression process.

Multi-Channel Advanced Sound Retriever

Advanced Sound Retriever for multi-surround sound is compatiblewith DVD soundtracks featuring Dolby Digital or DTS.

Triple HD Video Noise Reduction

The A/V receivers feature three separate noise reduction circuits forenhanced video performance.- Component Frame Noise Reduction (YNR/CNR): reduces Gaussian noisewithout blurring the picture - Block Noise Reduction: reduces block noise found in flat areas- Mosquito Noise Reduction: reduces noise along the outline of the imagesThe Pioneer-exclusive advanced PureCinema I/P Converter also helps toremove annoying lines during playback.

DLNA™ ver. 1.5 Compatible

This unit is compatible with DLNA ver. 1.5, enabled to work not only as aDigital Media Player for playing DMS audio files, but also as a Digital MediaRenderer to be remotely controlled by a device such as a smartphone or PC.For example, you can listen to audio files on a PC in another room, from aseparate device in your living room. DLNA ver. 1.0 allowed certified productsto work together, even between different brands. PQLS Bit-stream

The BDP-LX54, BDP-430, and BDP-330 feature PQLS Bit-stream, the latestversion of Pioneer's PQLS jitter reduction technology. By HDMI connectionwith a compatible A/V receiver, the Blu-ray Disc players can transmit not onlyCD audio and DVD/Blu-ray Disc multi-channel sound, but also linear PCM andbit-stream signals with minimum quality loss, to reproduce realistic sound.** Available by connecting with a compatible Pioneer A/V receiver. iControlAV App for iPhone and iPod touch

iControlAV is an iPhone/iPod touch application developed by Pioneer, freelydownloadable from the App Store. The application allows you to use youriPhone/iPod touch as a remote for controlling the Blu-ray Disc player's basicfunctions.
