f ied, push-button control led, automatic operation. Precise accuracy and control are obtainable, and yet automatic reset and programming features permit even novice laboratory technicians to make numerous analyses daily.

The unique, conductive column heating system minimizes thermal lags and gradi­ents found with conventional air-bath ovens, and reduced in the 226 by intimate thermal contact of heating element and column.

There is a wide range of program rates and timing rates, providing selections in any one of five ranges from 2-50°C/min ;

six rates from 0.75-37.5°C/min and six rates from 0.5-25°C/min by panel control. Initial isothermal temperature duration can be set by panel control from 0-30 minutes, ± 0.5 min. Length of final period can be set from 1 minute to 60 minutes, ± 1.0 min. These two runs of different peppermint oils were made under identical conditions oi column, temperature. Stow rate, program rate and duration. The "push-button" programming ot the Mode/ 220 made possible exact repetition ot all conditions, without any chance oi human error. The application of such automated analyses to incoming quality control, material inspection and product inspection with the Model 226 is one oi its most unique features.
