The sense of taste is one of a person's five senses. We taste with the help oftaste-buds in the tongue.

There are four main kinds of taste: sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. All othertastes are just mixtures of two or more of these main types.

The surface of the tongue has more than fifteen thousand taste-buds (orcells). These are connected to the brain by special nerves which send the so-called 'tastes messages.'

When the tongue comes into contact with food of any kind, the taste-budswill pick up the taste. The nerves then send a message to the brain. This willmake us aware of the taste. All this happens in just a few seconds.

There are four kinds of taste-buds, each of which is sensitive to only a

particular taste. These four groups are located in different parts of thetongue.

To improve comfort and cleanliness at our school, a number of dust binsshould be increased.

When we look at classrooms, school corridors and school yard, there arepapers, mineral water cups, straws, and napkins here and there. Thecondition of uncleanliness and discomfort really hinders learning and

teaching environment. Litters thrown carelessly cause disease,especially empty plastic cups or glasses. They can be filled out withwater coming from the rain. This can be placed for dengue mosquitoesto spread out. Besides, these rubbish can deteriorate the scene. Wellpainted wall and green school yard do not mean anything if litters arescattered everywhere.

Anyway I notice that most of the students in our school have

responsibilities for their school environment. They put their litters on theproper places. But some are not diligent enough to find the dust bins.The numbers of dust bins in our schools are not enough. More dust binsshould be put beside each of steps, outside of the classrooms, and somemore along the corridors. Probably one dust bin should be in every tenmeters. So when students want to throw away their litters, they can findthe dust bins easily.

Otong Setiawan Djuharie was born on Juli 18,1972, in Kuningan West Java. He enteredelementary and high school in his home town.

In 1991 he attended English Department atIKIP Bandung, and graduated in 1996. In 1998he took his master degree at IndonesianUniversity of Education, and completed it in2000. Otong Setiawan has been involved inteaching activities since he was in senior high

To improve comfort and cleanliness at our school, a number of dust bins should beincreased.

When we look at classrooms, school corridors and school yard, there are papers, mineralwater cups, straws, and napkins here and there. The condition of uncleanliness anddiscomfort really hinders learning and teaching environment. Litters thrown carelessly

cause disease, especially empty plastic cups or glasses. They can be filled out with watercoming from the rain. This can be placed for dengue mosquitoes to spread out. Besides,these rubbish can deteriorate the scene. Well painted wall and green school yard do notmean anything if litters are scattered everywhere.

Anyway I notice that most of the students in our school have responsibilities for theirschool environment. They put their litters on the proper places. But some are not diligentenough to find the dust bins. The numbers of dust bins in our schools are not enough. Moredust bins should be put beside each of steps, outside of the classrooms, and some morealong the corridors. Probably one dust bin should be in every ten meters.
