INTRODUCTION

Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Pahang (PPAP). The

organization used a few types of information system

such as Transaction Processing System (TPS).

Almost all the system at PPAP are using computer which

we concluded that PPAP is an existing business that is

using computerized information system.

They have 4 types of system which is ILMU, OPAQ, u-

Pustaka and Pahang Collection Website.2

Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Pahang (PPAP)has started their operation at Rumah RehatLama,Jalan Masjid, Kuantan on 1976.

On 1985, PPAP has move to old building of DewanUndangan Negeri Jalan Gambut

It been launched on 28 October 1987 by Duli YangMaha Mulia Sultan Pahang, Sultan Haji Ahmad ShahAl Mustain Billah Ibni Al-marhum Sultan Abu BakarRiayatuddin Al-Muadzam Shah.

PPAP has many systems that they use but to key inall the data they use ILMU server as the mainsystem in the library.

The function of this system is to keep all therecord about member information, title of the book,borrowing and returning books, book registrations

and many more.

Besides, they also provide both technical and userinformation services in any library or information

center.

2.2.2) Procedures

All the data of books are kept in aserver named Integrated LibraryManagement Utility.

Then, the books were process

using numbering system or calledas catalog.

Next, the books that have beencataloged is kept in their own booksection and the library member canborrow the books at the librarycounter or by using the u-Pustakaat the library kiosk.

The counter and kiosk are used formember to borrow or returned thebooks to the library. Meanwhile,

OPAC is used as the medium tosearch for a specific book that themember wants to borrow.

2.2.3.2 Back-up / SecuritySystem

For security, Perpustakaan Perbadanan Awam

Pahang choose Avast Anti-Virus as the security forprotect all of their data.

The main reason for the security applicationsoftware is to prevent server from unidentified data

like Malware, Trojan horse, hacker, unsecure website

and spyware.

2.2.4 Hardware

Hardware that PPAP use for borrowing and returning books system are Radio-

Frequency Identification (RFID), tag, reader, and detector.

they also have hardware for data backup and storage and also for network too.

. They use modem for dialing internet network number, then process it as data

and send it to the server.

After that, they use server to receive bandwidth line from modem and process it.

Then, it divides the bandwidth to the Firewall in form of information. Server

functions as Main of all PC, it can keep until millions of data compared to

ordinary computer.

3.0 IMPACT OF THE

INFORMATION SYSTEM

The benefits of the information system to the organizationare: To store the records of borrow and return book by the member,

record the personal details of the member, records of books andmany more.

Save records of thousands books since the library opened untilnow.

Be able to convert printed document like newspaper articles intoan electronic format so that they can be stored, organized andretrieved more easily.

Save money and time

Make easier to run the business without the need for so muchpaper

Can get many task accomplished faster, eliminating the need fora larger staff.

Enables effective communication within or outside a businessenvironment which allows quick information flow between the twoparties available

4.0 CONCLUSION

The information system used by PPAP isBusineess operation which is transaction

processing system (TPS). This software is usedto keep book inventory records in the PPAP. Thelibrarian will update and manage all the details

of books data into the system.

They will also records their members data suchas name and membership number.The members

card will be scanned and checked for overduebooks and fines, the borrowed items will be

scanned and each item will be placed under theborrowers name.

TPS can also be accessed manually withoutusing any network connection but most of thetime, network are highly demanded especiallyfor communcation with KIK. In the appendices,

there are some photos of TPS that were used byone of the employee.

In conclusion, the TPS used in

Perbadanan Perpustakaan

Awam Pahang brings a lot for

their daily jobs. It also makes their

process with the library members

become easier and satisfies themembers wish. Moreover, with

the help of the systems in PPAP,

they can improve their work

performance, the quality of their

jobs and the inventory of the

books become more organized.
