1. SALES VALUE

The sales value of the Manufacturing sector in

March 2010 continued to post a year-on-year

f 2 % ( 10 1 )peningkatan dua digit sebanyak 27.7%(RM10.1 bilion) kepada RM46.6 bilionberbanding RM36.5 bilion yang dilaporkan

pada bulan Mac 2010 adalah seramai 962,833

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing

sector in March 2010 was 962,833, an increase

Nilai gaji & upah yang dibayar pada bulan Mac

2010 meningkat sebanyak 0.6% atau RM13.5juta bulan ke bulan, kepada RM2,176.1 juta.

Jumlah yang dibayar pada bulan Mac 2010 juga

meningkat berbanding dengan bulan yang sama

tahun sebelumnya, iaitu 17.9% atau RM331.2

1. PENGENALAN 1. INTRODUCTION

Data yang terdapat dalam penerbitan ini meliputi industri-industri terpilih dalam sektor pembuatan seperti yang dikelaskan di bawah Kategori D dalam klasifikasi Standard Perindustrian Malaysia (MSIC), 2000. Pada keseluruhannya, MSIC adalah selaras dengan ‘International Standard Industrial Classification Of All Economic Activities, Rev. 3, dan telah diubahsuai mengikut keadaan tempatan. Data yang dipungut adalah melalui Penyiasatan Pembuatan Bulanan.

2. OBJEKTIF Objektif utama penyiasatan ini ialah untuk memberikan data aliran terkini bagi perangkaan utama di sektor pembuatan, khasnya data nilai jualan, bilangan pekerja bergaji, gaji & upah serta produk utama yang dibuat agar dapat membantu pengguna dalam merangka dasar serta membuat keputusan.

The data contained in this publication cover selected industries in the manufacturing sector as classified under Category D of the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC), 2000. The MSIC generally follows the International Standard Industrial Classification Of All Economic Activities, Rev. 3 with modifications to suit local conditions. The data are collected through the Monthly Manufacturing Survey.

2. OBJECTIVE The main objective of the survey is to provide data on the latest trends in the principal statistics of the manufacturing sector, specifically on sales value, number of employees, salaries & wages and the main products manufactured, hence assisting users in policy formulation and decision making.

3. SKOP DAN LIPUTAN 3.1 Data yang dipungut bagi penyiasatan ini

meliputi seluruh Malaysia. 3.2 Penyiasatan tersebut meliputi 120 Industri

daripada sejumlah 197 Industri. Walau bagaimanapun, hanya data bagi 116 Industri diterbitkan. total of 197 Industries. However, only data for 116 Industries are published. Data for the manufacture of malt liquors and malt industry (15530), manufacture of office and accounting machinery (30001), tin smelting (27201) and plastic product rigid fibre reinforced (25204) are not published to safeguard the confidentiality of the respondents as stipulated under the Statistics Act 1965 (Revised-1989). For information, of the 120 Industries covered, 102 are used in the computation of the Index of Industrial

3.3 Daripada 116 Industri yang diterbitkan, 20

Industri telah diliputi sepenuhnya (banci) manakala baki 96 Industri, hanya pertubuhan besar yang melebihi saiz bilangan pekerja tertentu diliputi. Sebanyak 120 buah industri yang diliputi ini telah menyumbangkan 90.0% nilai tambah banci dan 92.8% nilai output kasar bagi sektor pembuatan pada tahun 2005.

4. CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS The concepts and definitions used in this publication are as defined in the MSIC which adhere to that of the International Standard Industrial Classification Of All Economic Activities, Rev. 3.

4.1 Pembuatan

Pembuatan ditakrifkan sebagai "penukaran secara mekanikal atau kimia bagi bahan bukan organik atau organik kepada produk baru sama ada kerja itu dilakukan oleh jentera yang digerakkan oleh kuasa atau tangan, sama ada dilakukan di kilang atau di rumah pekerja, dan sama ada produk dijual secara borong atau runcit." Pemasangan bahagian komponen produk dianggap sebagai pembuatan kecuali dalam kes yang mana kegiatan itu sesuai dikelaskan di bawah ‘Pembinaan’. Pertubuhan yang kegiatan utamanya ialah kerja pembaikan turut dimasuk dan dikelaskan mengikut jenis produk yang diperbaiki.

4.1 Manufacturing Manufacturing is defined as "the mechanical or chemical transformation of inorganic or organic substances into new products whether the work is performed by power driven machines or by hand, whether it is done by the factory or in the worker's home, and whether the products are sold at wholesale or retail”. Assembly of the component parts of manufactured products is considered as manufacturing except in cases where the activity is appropriately classified under ‘Construction’. Establishments primarily engaged in repair work are included and classified according to the type of product repaired.

4.2 Industri

Sebuah ‘industri’ ditakrifkan sebagai satu kumpulan pertubuhan ekonomi yang mana semuanya menjalankan satu jenis kegiatan utama yang sama atau mengeluarkan jenis produk yang sama. Unit pelapor, iaitu ‘pertubuhan’, diuntukkan kepada industri tertentu berdasarkan aktiviti atau produk utamanya. Walau bagaimanapun, mana-mana pertubuhan dalam sebarang industri mungkin mengeluarkan produk bagi industri lain sebagai satu kegiatan kecil. Oleh yang demikian, kegiatan bagi mana-mana ‘industri’ tidak semestinya terhad hanya kepada jenis kegiatan yang mana industri itu ditakrifkan ataupun jenis kegiatannya tidak semestinya terdapat dalam industri tersebut sahaja. Oleh itu, perlulah diambil perhatian bahawa data bagi industri tertentu adalah jumlah data bagi unit-unit pelapor yang dikelaskan kepada industri tersebut.

4.3 Unit Pelapor - Pertubuhan Unit pelapor bagi Penyiasatan Pembuatan Bulanan ialah pertubuhan. Sebuah pertubuhan ditakrif "secara ‘ideal’, sebagai satu unit ekonomi yang bergiat di bawah satu hak milik atau penguasaan tunggal, iaitu, di bawah satu entiti yang sah. Ia menjalankan satu jenis aktiviti ekonomi atau mempunyai satu jenis aktiviti ekonomi utama di satu tempat/lokasi fizikal, misalnya, sebuah lombong, kilang atau bengkel." Sekiranya sesebuah pertubuhan, dari segi nilai pengeluaran, mempunyai lebih daripada satu kegiatan penting, maka pertubuhan berkenaan diminta memberikan penyata yang berasingan bagi setiap kegiatannya. Sebaliknya, jika sesebuah pertubuhan itu menjalankan satu kegiatan penting sahaja, maka kegiatan lain yang kurang

4.2 Industry An ‘industry’ is defined as a group of economic establishments all of which are primarily engaged in the same kind of activity or in producing the same kind of product. The reporting unit, that is, the ‘establishment’, is assigned to a certain industry according to its principal activities or products. Any establishment in any industry, however, may produce, as a minor activity, commodities assigned to another industry. As a result, the activities of any ‘industry’ are not necessarily always confined entirely to the types of activity by which the industry is named, nor are these types of activity necessarily only found in that industry. As such, it should be noted that data of a specific industry are the sum totals of data of the reporting units classified to that industry.

4.3 The Reporting Unit - The Establishment The reporting unit for the Monthly Manufacturing Survey is the establishment. An establishment is defined "ideally, as an economic unit which engages, under a single ownership or control, that is, under a single legal entity, in one, or predominantly one, kind of economic activity at a single location, for example, a mine, factory or workshop." If the establishment has more than one significant activity, in terms of production value, then the establishment is requested to give separate returns for each activity. However, in the case of an establishment which engages in only one significant activity, then the less significant activity is subsumed under this activity and the establishment is classified to the industry of

4.4 Nilai Jualan

(b) bayaran untuk pengangkutan keluar;

(c) komisen kepada wakil-wakil penjual; dan

(d) bayaran lain seperti cukai eksais yang dibayar atau cukai jualan yang dipungut oleh kilang bagi pihak kerajaan.

4.5 Bilangan Pekerja

Data tentang bilangan pekerja meliputi pekerja bergaji sepenuh masa dan pekerja sambilan. (a) Pekerja Sepenuh Masa Ia ditakrifkan sebagai semua pekerja

bergaji yang bekerja sekurang-kurangnya 6 jam sehari dan sekurang-kurangnya 20 hari sebulan.

(b) Pekerja Sambilan Ia ditakrifkan sebagai semua pekerja

bergaji yang bekerja kurang dari 6 jam sehari dan/atau kurang dari 20 hari sebulan.

4.4 Sales Value The sales value reported refers to the value of sales of own manufactured goods only. This relates to sales of goods made during the reporting month whether produced by the establishment in that month or in previous months. The sales value should be ex-factory value relating to the quantity sold. The valuation should be on the basis of price charged to customers less all distributive expenses actually incurred, such as:

(a) discounts or rebates;

(b) charges for carriage outwards;

(c) commissions to selling agents; and

(d) all other charges such as excise duties paid, sales tax collected by the factory on behalf of the government.

4.5 Employment

The employment data cover full-time and part-time employees. (a) Full-time Employees

This is defined to include all paid workers who work for at least 6 hours a day and for at least 20 days a month.

(b) Part-time Employees

This is defined to include all paid workers who work for less than 6 hours a day and/or less than 20 days a month.

4.6 Gaji & Upah Yang Dibayar

Gaji & upah yang dibayar merujuk kepada pembayaran tunai, termasuk bonus, komisen, bayaran lebih masa, elaun kos sara hidup dan elaun lain yang dibayar kepada semua pekerja bergaji dalam bulan rujukan. Caruman pekerja kepada Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP) dan Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) turut dimasukkan, tetapi caruman oleh majikan dikecualikan. Elaun kepada pemilik yang bekerja, rakan niaga yang bekerja dan pekerja keluarga tidak bergaji juga dikecualikan.

4.6 Salaries & Wages Paid

Salaries & wages paid refer to cash payments, including bonuses, commissions, overtime wages, cost of living allowances and other allowances made to all employees during the reference month. The employees' contribution to Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) is included but the employer's contribution is excluded. Allowances to working proprietors, working partners and unpaid family workers are not included.

5. KEPERLUAN KERAHSIAAN
