To the backdrop of declining oil reserves, it is essential that Malaysia’s Oil & Gas industry continually implement the latest technology to enhance and maximise production. Already PETRONAS has identified 14 oil fields in Malaysia that Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques which can be used to boost production and help their field generate between 750 to 1 billion barrels of oil.

At the moment, Malaysia continues to outperform the international standard of decline (8 - 9%) due to aggressive initiatives implemented by PETRONAS together with their international partners. Their partnerships have enabled Malaysia to keep their decline at below 2 - 3%. MOGSEC will continue to showcase the technology and industry initiative needed to help maximise Oil & Gas production in Malaysia. Building upon its successful debut in 2012, MOGSEC 2014 will once again aim to focus on the expertise in Oil & Gas services that Malaysia has to offer.

MADE IN MALAYSIA – FOR MALAYSIANS

Message by President and CEO, PETRONASTan Sri Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas The current growth witnessed in Malaysia’s Oil & Gas industry holds much promise for the domestic Oil & Gas service Companies. PETRONAS, as custodian of Malaysia’s petroleum resources will continue to play a leading role in accelerating the development of our nation’s Oil & Gas resources whilst paving the way for home grown capabilities and expertise.

At the same time, we must recognise that the Oil & Gas industry is technically challenging and capital intensive; and it may not suit the faint hearted. While PETRONAS will continue to provide stewardship and opportunities, these will be met by service providers who are able to continuously enhance their capabilities, innovate and remain competitive.

In this accord, we cannot deny the role of organisations such as MOGSC to represent and champion the domestic Oil & Gas service sector. In order to effectively undertake this role, a vital ingredient remains that the organisation must consist of industry players, who understand the intricacies and complexities of the Oil & Gas industry.

Over the years, its presence and visibility has increased significantly through active participation and wide-ranging initiatives taken up with industry stakeholders, as well as collaborations with the relevant government agencies. We are indeed proud to witness the journey of local players who have proven their abilities to compete - some have even marched forward to become international players!

Our aspiration is one and the same and that is for Malaysia to be the Oil & Gas hub for the region. And this can only be achieved when the industry is represented by capable players and supported by value-adding industry associations. PETRONAS is therefore pleased to support MOGSC’s initiatives including MOGSEC 2014, as we believe it is an effective and beneficial platform. In addition to increasing the visibility of the local and gas service providers, this also serves as a timely arena for meaningful discourse and engagement.

With that, we look forward to the support of the Malaysian Oil & Gas community in ensuring the continued success of MOGSEC 2014. If all of us continue forward in this manner, I am certain we have the ingredients to unlock all potential in realizing our aspiration.

The Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council or MOGSC was formed on 1st December 2003, as an initiative to establish an association driven and promoted by the services sector of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Industry.

MOGSC is now the premier business forum for service providers in the Malaysian Oil & Gas Industry with the largest grouping of companies as members.

Malaysian Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd (MES) was incorporatedin 1980, as a pioneer and one of the leading Exhibition Organiser in Malaysia. A Malaysian-owned company under the chairmanship of Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, MES have vast experiences in organising highly successful & well attended, business-generating international exhibitions. One of which is the renowned Oil & Gas Asia (OGA) series of exhibitions.

ABOuT MOGSECThe Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council aims to bring together the country’s Oil & Gas service providers and at the same time, effectively elevate Malaysia’s profile towards becoming the regional hub for Oil & Gas services. To ensure the realisation of the goals and in line with the government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), MOGSEC was in it iated on September 2012.

The distinction of MOGSEC is that it is a unique event which champions Malaysia as an Oil & Gas hub for the region, so much so that MOGSEC has carved out on its own, a niche in the process. Its success can certainly

be attributed to PETRONAS’ support and patronage which enabled MOGSEC to achieve such a positive result on its first appearance.

Building on its success, MOGSEC 2014 will continue to showcase and champion Malaysia as a hub for Oil & Gas services in the region.
