PENDAHULUAN
Peperiksaan Malaysia University English Test (MUET) nanti.
Mudah-mudahan
usaha ini dapat menyumbang kepada keputusan yang baik buat anda semua dalam
peperiksaan MUET nanti.
Salam kejayaan untuk anda dan selamat menduduki Peperiksaan Malaysia
University English Test (MUET)!

Primary & Secondary School Enrolment in 3 Regions
Table 1 depicts the school enrolment by region while Figure 1 shows a bar graph of
income level by region. In general, school enrolment corresponds directly to the
income level of each region whereby developed countries with higher income have
much higher enrolment compared to under-developed countries.
Based on both stimuli, it can be concluded that school enrolment is
greatly affected by income level. Developed countries such as USA with an
impressive 85% high income level are the only regions to achieve 100% enrolment
in primary school for 2010 while secondary school enrolment achieved a near-
perfect 99%. Developing countries such as Thailand which enjoy 80% middle and
high income levels in 2010 show a relatively high school enrolment for primary
school (90%) and secondary school (82%). Finally, under-developed countries such
as Myanmar with majority low income and only a marginal 5% are affluent has
directly affected the poor enrolment rates with only 62% enrolment in primary
schools and a low of 27% for secondary schools for 2010.
In conclusion, the rate of school enrolment is directly related to the
affluence level of the region where countries that are under-developed and poor
have poor school enrolment both for primary and secondary.

Co-curriculum activities should be made compulsory for enhance into local
universities. I am strongly in favour of this. Co-curriculum activities empompass
activities such as uniform units, societies, clubs and games. Every secondary
student should be involved in at least one activity from each unit of the co-
curriculum activities offered in their school. There are many advantages that
students can reap from taking part in co-curriculum activities.
First of all, many students learn to socialize and interact through the
activities that they take part in when they join any co-curriculum activity. They
make friend, learn to give and take, and also to tolerate their friends. In addition,
the attitude of respect between them would be built. This case coincides with the
Malay proverb to the small hill climb into the same groove descendants.
Therefore, the important of co-curriculum activities are shaping social attitudes.
Moreover, by joining any co-curriculum activity, the students fill up their
time constructively. They learn to be involved in healthy activities that will be able
build up their confidence and self-esteem. They will not get involved in unhealthy
activities that will bring social ills to the nation. Some of the activities that they can
take up are games such as football or badminton, swimming, involvement in Chess
Club, Girl Guides or Scouts. These activities keep the students occupied so that
they do not fall prey to negative influences.
On the contrary, involvement in any co-curriculum can help build up
leadership activity qualities among students. We will have students who excel at
well by holding responsibilities and seeing to the organisation of activities in the
club or movement. Hence, we have students who can shoulder responsibilities by
becoming the President of a club, treasurer, committee member, secretary and
many other posts available in the club or movement.
All in all, students who are actively in co-curriculum activities are able to
spend their time wisely. They are also well-mannered as they are instilled with
pasitive values. As such, I strongly feel that co-curriculum activities should be made
compulsory for entrance into local universities for the benefits that the students can
reap by joining these activities. (358 words)

Profile of Professionals & Main Goals
The stimuli present a table on the profile of professionals and another on
their main goals. In general, the two groups have very different profiles and goals
where the younger group aims to make more money while the other focuses more
on health.
According to the first table, most professionals aged 18 to 27 are junior
executives and earn an average of RM3000 with 5 years of work experience. Only
40% of young professionals are married while almost all senior professionals are
married (95%). Senior managers aged between 46 to 55 have an average of 20
years work experience. They earn more than triple the salary of a junior executive.
Based on the second table, both groups have very different goals for the year
ahead. The younger group ranks making more money as top priority followed by
improving technology and communication skills. Meanwhile, the older group focuses
more on health, saving money and prioritizing family time while goals related to
money, improving skills and new friends are not as important to them.
In conclusion, priorities change depending on age group where the younger
generation focuses on making money while the older generation cares more about
their health and saving money.

It is true that no man is an island meaning that no one in this world can live
alone without friendship. That person would be very socially challenged as he or
she would miss the camaraderie and life experiences that come with friendship.
However, I completely disagree with the statement that the most valuable thing in
life is friendship as there are certainly more important and priceless things in life
besides this. In this essay, I will outline how life itself is more valuable than
friendship, and elaborate on why family and the individuals principles in life are
ranked higher.
First and foremost, before one can enjoy the beauty of friendship, one must
surely value life itself or in other words, we should value our health. This is
because; the quality of our life is the single most important criteria in life if we are
to live a meaningful and wholesome life. Moreover, without good health, we will be
hard pressed to do even the simplest of tasks like feed ourselves or relieve
ourselves without the help of doctors, nurses and caregivers. For example, if we are
paralyzed, lost our sight, hearing or ability to speak or even a simple case of a
fever or allergic reactions, then the quality of our life is greatly reduced and no
amount of friendship can make us healthy again. Therefore, while friends can stand
by us in our time of need, pristine health is still the most valuable asset in our lives.
Secondly, we are no one without our family as indeed blood is thicker than
water. This means that however you analyze it, friendships will almost always play
second fiddle because family always comes first. Furthermore, if we do not value
our family above others, then there must be a problem among the family members
that has caused their relationship to be strained. For instance, people tend to turn
away from family if the family member(s) themselves are the ones to cause them
to react negatively such as divorced parents, abusive parents or siblings and so on.
Thus, when people consider friendship to be the most valuable thing in life, more
often than not they may come from a troubled household.
Last but not least, a persons principle in life is by far more valuable than
friendship alone. This is due to the fact that each person needs to have a code of
ethics, quite often prescribed by their individual religions. In addition, this code will

guide each person to live their lives according to the good and right principles. Take
for example, if an individual has set his principles to do good, then no amount of
friendship especially negative influence from friends, can shake his hold on his
principles and cause him to commit undesirable deeds like smoking, stealing,
raping, murdering and others. Hence, if a person values friendship so much to the
point where he is willing to break his principles, then he has done a serious
misdeed against himself and will most likely regret his actions later in life.
In short, friendship is the rainbow of life as it colors our horizons with invaluable
experiences but without good health, a supportive family and strong principles, life
becomes empty and meaningless. In my opinion, it is beyond a shadow of a doubt
that I still firmly believe that friendship is not the most valuable thing in life. Our
government can encourage people to prioritize health, family and principles in life
by organizing awareness campaigns especially in primary schools where the
younger generation should learn about priorities in life because they are the leaders
of tomorrow

Air Travellers Choice of Airlines (2003 2008)
The chart show the number of air travellers by airlines from 2003 to 2008 and the
travellers airlines satisfaction rating from 2008. It is evident that passenger
numbers of each airline are influenced by passenger satisfaction.
In 2003, Swift Air was the least favourite airline with only 200 000 passengers,
compared to Air Eagle which had double the number of passengers at 400 000.
Falcon Airways had the most number of passengers in 2003 at 800 000.
Passenger numbers of Falcon Air dropped considerably from over 600 000 in
2004 to 300 000 in 2006, but rose to 500 000 in 2008. In contrast, Air Eagles
passenger numbers continued to rise, achieving as many as 1 500 000 passengers
in 2008. Swift Airs passenger numbers remained almost static, maintaining a
steady sales pattern from 2003 to 2008.
In 2008, Air Eagle had a perfect rating for both price and punctuality. Falcon
Airways was top-rated for service at 90%, but rated only 30% pricewise. Swift Airs
below-average rating for service, punctuality and safety contributed to its lack of
popularity among the air travellers.
To conclude, travellers choice of airline is influenced by their satisfaction with
price, punctuality, service and safety.

Arranged marriages, contrary to expectations, are still alive and well in this
modern age, especially among certain tribal and traditional communities.
Tradionally, an arranged marriage is one where the spouse of an individual is
chosen by parents or elders in the family. However, if left to the individual, there
are not many who would choose this path to find life partners. In my opinion,
there are both pros and cons to practising arranged marriages in today's society.
One of the disadvantages of an arranged marriage is that the both the
groom and bride know each other. Perhaps they only have met once or twice
during the introduction stage, but then are expected to share a life together. Both
the bride and the groom may find it difficult to live with someone they barely
know. Troubles may brew and problems arise when the couple does not have any
interests in common. This may lead to misunderstandings, unnecessary quarrels
and, finally separation or divorce. In some cases, abuse and domestic violence may
also take place.
An arranged marriage is not necessarily a marriage made in heaven,
whatever the matchmaker, parent or elder says. It equates to a forced marriage
in this modern world. Both the would-be bride and groom are not given the
freedom of choice in choosing a life partner. The whole process is arranged by the
elders or parents. The young couple is not given an opportunity to play a key part
in the marriage plans. Hence, an arranged marriage can be said to limit or take
away one's choice of life partner. Furthermore, if the parents or elders in charge of
matchmaking do not have a good idea of the personality and preference of each
person, and they just rely on their own ideas, it could well be a recipe for disaster.
Two people of widely differing personalities and preferences may have a very
difficult and tempestuous marriage, because there is no common ground and no
allowance for personal preferences.
However, arranged marriages are not all bad. In this very busy and
competitive world, many young people may not be able to find time to socialize
and look for their life partners. They are very busy with their jobs and careers and
are frequently bogged down by work and urgent deadlines. Hence, by the time
these young people want to settle down, they may be well past the normal

'marriageable' age. In such a situation, an arranged marriage can help to reduce
the hassle of finding a suitable partner and making time to get to know him or her.
This is where parents who know their child very well can help to find a suitable
spouse for their child. Not all arranged marriages fail or are merely mediocre.
Some arranged marriages are very successful, as both husband and wife are
likely to come from similar backgrounds as well as share similar religious beliefs
and family values. These are things which the couple can build on to forge a new
life together. They a re also likely to have family support as they attempt to build
their own family.
In conclusion, while the modern view is that arranged marriages are one
of many outdated traditions and customs, I think that it is still relevant to some
communities even in todays society. An arranged marriage built on mutual beliefs
and shared backgrounds will have an equal chance of surviving and thriving as a
marriage that is based on love and attraction, but features differing backgrounds,
cultures and personal beliefs.

Frequency of Visits of Three Music Websites by Teenagers
The stimuli show teenagers visit to three music websites and the promotional
activities of these websites in August. In general, the visits to the music websites
are influenced by the promotional activities.
In week 1, Music Network had the most number of visits at 40 000 but
decline to 25 000 in week 2. But week 3 and 4, it increased to 40 000. Music
Connect started at 15 000 visits in week 1, increased to 35 000 in week 2 and
declined to 28 000 in week 3. Then it surged to 55 000 in week 4. Era Music
recorded the lowest number of visits at 10 000 in week 1, 15 000 in week 2 and 3,
and 10 000 in week 4.
Music Network had three promotional activities Name that Tune, Name
the Singer and Whose line is it?. Era Music had one namely, Name the movie and
this accounted for the lowest number of visits. Music Connect had freebies (music
CD and concert ticket in weeks 2 and 4 respectively) and these probably influenced
the highest number of visits.
In conclusion, the frequency of visits to music websites by teenagers is
influenced by promotional activities.

Today, electronic communication channels such as the Internet, mobile
phone, blogging and twittering are popular. Although many think they are the
causes for many social ills, I believe they have their advantages and
disadvantages.
One advantage is that electronic communications have facilitated
the spread of knowledge and the sourcing of knowledge. Numerous search
engines have enabled access to a wealth of information from the Internet. In
fact, sources like Wikipedia and YouTube are likened to teachers because
questions posted by users are answered in a jiffy. Blogging and twittering,
discussion corners and forums enable users to share personal information
and spread ideas, views and comments on education, social issues, and
politics, among others.
On the other hand, electronic communications have given rise to
cyber crimes. Many users misuse these channels for selfish gain. One such
crime is computer hacking. Hackers misuse their skills to obtain secret
business information and to steal money. Banks, for example, are under
threat. In 2010, computer hacker Kevin Mitnick of California obtained twenty
thousand usable credit card numbers by breaking into the computer files of a
bank.
Cyber bullying is also on the rise. Cyber bullies strike fear in people by
calling them names and insulting their families. Victims feel threatened and
harassed. Some go into depression while some even commit suicide. In 2011,
a Smithfield High School student in Rhode Island, America, was arrested by
police for stalking another student by creating a phony Facebook page.
Another disadvantage is the depersonalized nature it creates. In the
business world, people are no longer called customers or clients. They have
become mere account numbers. Face-to-face transactions are no longer
necessary, and one can buy almost anything via the Internet. Even in offices,
electric communications have taken over. Office workers are interacting more

through instant messaging and email, even though they may be sitting only a
stone's throw from each other.
In conclusion, we can say that electronic communications have
made our life more comfortable but at a cost. It is up to us whether to let it
disrupt our lives or use it in a positive way to benefit us.
