When sunlight enters the Earth’s atmosphere, some of its solar radiation is reflected back into space. As the Earth is warmed, heat in the form of infrared radiation is radiated back into space. However, much of his heat does not escape from the atmosphere, but remains trapped by greenhouse gases. At the same time, greenhouse gases also radiate heat in the form of infrared radiation back to the Earth.

Semasa cahaya memasuki atmosfera bumi, sebahagian radiasi solar dipantul semula ke angkasa lepas. Apabila bumi dipanaskan, haba dalam bentuk sinaran infra merah di radiasi semula ke angkasa.
