IMPORTS OF SOLID PLASTIC WASTES AND HARD ZINC SPELTER INTO MALAYSIA

I refer to the earlier submission by Malaysian authorities with regard to imports into Malaysia of three items namely, under Code B3010 (solid plastic wastes), Code GH013 (solid plastic wastes) and Code B1100 (hard zinc spelter).

2. In this regard, I wish to inform that there is no import prohibition imposed on all three items listed above. I also wish to highlight that the earlier submission by Malaysia wrongly indicated these items as listed under Option A of the Questionnaire Relating to Amendments to Commission Regulation 1418/2007. I am now confirming that this is not the case. Instead, codes 83010 and GH013 are listed under Option D, while Code Bí 100 is listed under Option C.

3. I understand that the only way imports can resume is through amendments to EU Regulation 1418/2007. As such, I would take this opportunity to request your good office to take into account the existing import regime in Malaysia, which does not impose import prohibition on the three products and initiate domestic procedures towards amending the said Regulation so that imports can resume soonest.
