The conference aims to reveal advances in Mechatronics Technology through high quality research and idea exchanges in order to push forward this integrated engineering field and to establish an international fellowship network in Mechatronics. Mechatronics is an integrated engineering discipline and applies a holistic approach to the system design. IIUM is playing its part in establishing and promoting this integrated, multidisciplinary mechatronics approach in teaching, research, design and development of new products and systems. In light of this, the Faculty of Engineering, has organized its First International Conference of Mechatronics in February 2001 and had a tremendous success. Now, Faculty of Engineering (IIUM) and IEE (UK) Malaysian Centre are jointly calling for the 2nd International Conference on Mechatronics to give an opportunity for various scientists and engineers with common interest in Mechatronics come together and exchange the ideas and views in solving problems within the field. Papers are invited in topics that cover, but are not limited to:- Mechatronics and Control Systems: Analysis, modelling and simulation, system design, motion control, kinematics and dynamics, MEMS and NEMS, intelligent systems, application of mechatronic systems, advanced control, micro controller-based systems, real-time control, signal processing, system identification, fault-tolerant systems, precision engineering, agent-based control, neural networks, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, mechatronics education. Sensors, Actuators and Measurements: Intelligent sensors and actuators, multi-sensor fusion, micro/nanotechnology, microsensors and microactuators, machine vision, biosensors, instrumentation electronics, system integration and smart systems development. Robotics: Industrial, service and biomedical robots, autonomous mobile robots, humanoid robots, multi-robot teams, human-robot interface and vision-based robots.

Industrial Automation and Manufacturing Systems: Computer vision, embedded systems, factory automation and communication, networks, telematics, teleservice, diagnostics & prevention, inspection systems for quality control, CAD/CAM/CIM, man-machine communication, software engineering, evolutionary computing, data base management, expert systems, interfaces, simulation, industrial applications of internet technologies and multimedia.
