    1. Allah (S.w.t.) Has Given Me Five Virtues

The scholar Abu Mohammad Hasan bin Husain bin Babeweyh, narrated from the blessedscholar Abu Jaafar Mohammad bin Hasan Al-Tousi, from the great scholar Abu

AbdillahMohammad bin Mohammad bin Noman, from Abu Abdillah Mohammad bin Riah Al-

Qarashi, from his father, from Abu Ali Hasan bin Mohammad, fromHasan bin Mahboub. from Alibin Reaab from AbiBaseer, from Mohammad bin Ali (a.s.), who said:

Once Abu Dhar and Salman went looking for the Prophet (S.a.w.w.). Theywere told that he had gone toward Quba. They went to look for him andfound him in Sujood under a tree. They sat down waiting for him to comeup but he took so long that they thought he might have fallen asleep. Theymoved to wake him up but he raised his head.

    The Prophet (S.a.w.w.) said:

I could see and hear you, and I was not sleeping. Allah (S.a.w.w.) sentevery prophet before me to his nation with his own language, but He sentme to all nations with Arabic.

He has given me five virtues that He has never given to any prophet beforeme:

He supports me with fear in the heart of the enemies; people believe in me

    by hearing about me even if they are at one months traveling distanceaway from me;

    He has made plunder in wars permissible for me;

He has made earth pure and clean and assigned it as a place for mySujood, and I can use it for TAYAMMUM (ablution with dust) wherever I amand pray on it.

He has allowed every prophet to ask Him for one thing. They all asked Himand He granted their requests in this world. But I delayed asking until theDay of Judgement because I will ask Him to accept my intercession for thesinners from my nation and He will accept it.

Allah (S.w.t.) has given me the complete knowledge of everything, and Hehas not given this to any prophet before me. And He has given Ali (A.s.) thekeys and power of speech.

So my request will wait until the Day of Judgement and my intercession willbe for those who die believing in Allah (S.w.t.) and associate no one withHim, accept me, follow my successor, and love my family (A.s.).

The guardian scholar AbiAbdillah Mohammad bin Ahmad bin Shahryar Al-Khazen, narratedfrom Abu AbdillahJaafar bin Mohammad bin Ahmad bin Abbas, from his father, from the blessedscholar Abu Jaafar Mohammad bin Ali (a.s.) bin Husain bin Babeweyh, from his father, from Ali

bin Ibrahim, from Ibrahim bin Hashim, from Yasir Al-Khadem, who said: When Mamoun (L.a.) appointed Ali bin Musa Al -Redha(A.s.) as his PrimeMinister, he ordered that Ali bin Musa Al- Redhas(A.s.) name be embossedon the currency of the time. He ordered the speakers to praise Ali bin Musa

Al-Redha (A.s.) on the Minbars and he invited all of the poets to come andpraise him.

All of the poets came, and Abu Noaas Al -Hasan bin Hani was amongst

them. Every poet said something and praised Ali bin Musa Al-Redha (A.s.)except Abu Noaas.

Mamoun complained and said to him, O Abu Noaas! You are a Shia andyou love this family. Why are you quiet? Why have you not recited a poemabout Ali bin Musa (A.s.) ? Abu Noaas replied with the following poem:

They say that I am the most skillful poet and that my words are like abeautiful treasure.

And they ask me, Why have you not recited a poem about Ali bin Musa(A.s.) and his virtues?

And I reply, Jibraeel was the servant of this Imams father. How can Ipraise such an Imam?

No tongue can praise him and no one can give justice to his status.

So Mamoun filled his mouth with pearls.

Yasir continued narrating in this same Hadith:

Ali bin Musa Al-Redha(A.s.) looked exactly like the Prophet (S.a.w.w.).Those who had seen the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) in their dreams would say thatthey could see the face of the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) in Ali bin Musas (A.s.)face.

They are pure from any sin, and praise is due to them whenever they arementioned.

If a person is not related to this family, he has nothing of which to be proud.

Allah (S.w.t.) has chosen you from among His creation and He has madeyou pure.

You are from the higher world and you have the knowledge of the Quranand its chapters.

So Ali bin Musa Al- Redha (A.s.) old Abu Noaas, You have never recited apoem as beautiful as thi s. May Allah (S.w.t.) reward you for it. Then Ali binMusa Al- Redha(A.s.) asked his servant, How much money do we have?

The servant replied. Three hundred DINARS (gold coins).

Ali bin Musa (A.s.) ordered the servant to take the money to Abu Noaas.Wh en the servant came back, Ali bin Musa (A.s.) said to him, I am afraidthat Abu Noaas may think that this reward was insufficient. So take thismule to him as well.

AbiAbdillahJaafar bin Mohammad (A.s.) narrated from his fathers (A.s.),

from the Messenger of Allah (S.a.w.w.) who said: The first thing written onthe book of the believer after his death is what the other believers sayabout him.

And the first gift that a believer is given after his death is that he and thebelievers in his funeral will be forgiven.

Then Jaafar bin Mohammad (A.s.) continued:

O Fazl! Not everyone will be able to go to a mosque. Only the best of thenations and only the noble ones from each family will have this honour.

O Fazl! The least that you get out of going to mosque is one of thefollowing three things: your prayers for going to Paradise will be granted;your prayers for protection from the evil in this world will be granted; or youwill get to know another brother who will guide you to Allah (S.w.t.). TheMessenger of Allah (S.a.w.w.) said. After be lieving in Islam, nothing ismore beneficial than a brother who guides you to Allah (S.w.t.).

O Fazl! Believers are called MOMIN (believer) because they entrust Allah(S.w.t.) with all of their affairs and Allah (S.w.t.) obliges.

O Fazl! Do not belittle the needy from among our Shia because on the Dayof Judgement they will intercede for an entire nation. Have you not heard

Allahs (S.w.t.) words about your enemies when they will see youinterceding on behalf of your friends?

Now, we have no intercessors, nor any loving friends. (26:100 -101).

So I asked the maid, To whom are you referring with these descriptions?

She replied, I swear to Allah (S.w.t.) that I am talking about the flag of thescholars, the door of judgement, the divider between Paradise and Hell, thepious of the nation, the master of c reation, the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) s brother, his heir, and his successor on his nation. I mean my master, theCommander of the Believers, Ali bin AbiTaleb (A.s.).

So I a sked the maid, What has he done for you to describe him in thisway?

O Ali (A.s.)! Those who think they love me but hate you are liars.

O Ali (A.s.)! Those who fight you fight me, and those who fight me fight Allah (S.w.t.).

O Ali (A.s.)! Those who hate you hate me, and those who hate me hate Allah (S.w.t.), and Allah (S.w.t.) will make them miserable in Hell.

    38. O Um Salamah! Listen and be my witness

Um Salamah (S.a.) , one of the wives of the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) , heard thatone of her servants hated Ali bin Abi Taleb (A.s.) and insulted him. So shesent for him. When this servant came, Um Salamah said, I have heard thatyou hate Ali (A.s.) and you insult him. Is this true?

    He replied, Yes.

    She got angry and said:

Sit down! May your mother weep on you! Let me tell you a Hadith that Iheard from the Messenger of Allah (S.a.w.w.), and then decide for yourself:

The Prophet (S.a.w.w.) had nine wives and he would spend a day witheach one. So one day, when it was my turn, I went to his house andknocked on the door. I asked the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) for permission to enter but he refused. So I was very disappointed and worried. I thought thatmaybe he was angry with me or maybe he had received something againstme from above.

After a while, I came back to the door and asked for permission to enter buthe refused again. So I felt even worse than the first time. Then I waited alittle longer and knocked on the door, asking for permission to enter again. This time the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) granted me permission to enter.

When I entered, I saw Ali (A.s.) sitting in front of the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) and Ali (A.s.) was saying, May I sacrifice my father and mother for you, OMessenger of Allah (S.w.t.) ! When that which you told me happens, whatdo you order me to do?

The Prophet (S.a.w.w.) replied, I order you to be patient. (Thi s refers tothe incident of Saqifah.)

Ali (A.s.) asked again, and the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) replied, Be patient.

(This refers to the murder of the Master of the Women of All of the Worlds,Fatema (S.a.),daughter of the Prophet (S.a.w.w.).)

When asked for the third time, the Prophets (S.a.w.w.) replied, O Ali (A.s.)O my brother! When they do it, uncover your sword and keep it on your

shoulder and then proceed with killing them until you meet me while your sword is dripping from their blood.

(This refers to those who rose against the Commander of the Believers(A.s.) during his time as the governor.)

Then the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) looked at me and said, Why do you look sosad? I (Um Salamah) replied, Because you did not grant me permissionto enter. The Prophet (S.a.w.w.) said:

It was not because there is anything against you. Allah (S.w.t.) and HisMessenger (S.a.w.w.) are satisfied with you. But when you knocked,Jibraeel was to my right and Ali (A.s.) was to my left, and Jibraeel wastelling me about the events that will ensue after me (my death), and he toldme to tell Ali (A.s.) about them.

O Um Salamah! Listen and be my witness: testify that Ali bin Abi Taleb(A.s.) is my brother in this world and he is my brother in the Hereafter.

O Um Salamah! Listen and be my witness: testify that Ali bin Abi Taleb(A.s.) is my minister in this world and he is my minister in the Hereafter.

O Um Salamah! Listen and be my witness: testify that Ali bin Abi Taleb(A.s.) is my flag bearer in this world and he is my flag bearer in theHereafter.

O Um Salamah! Listen and be my witness: testify that Ali bin Abi Taleb(A.s.) is my successor and my caliph after me, that he fulfills my promises, and that he is the protector of my Pool.

O Um Salamah! Listen and be my witness: testify that Ali bin Abi Taleb(A.s.) is the master of Muslims, the Imam of the pious, the leader of thebelievers, and he is the killer of the disloyal ones, the perfidious, and theapostates.

So I (Um S alamah) asked, Who are the disloyal ones?

The Prophet (S.a.w.w.) replied, Those who pay allegiance to Ali (A.s.) in

Medina and deny it in Basra. (Talha (L.a.) and Zubair (L.a.) were thechiefs of the army led by Ayesha (L.a.), daughter of Abu Bakr (L.a.), in theBattle of Jamal.)

I (Um Salamah) asked, Who are the perfidious?

The Prophets (S.a.w.w.) replied, Muawiya (L.a.) and his people fromShaam.

I (Um Salamah) asked, Who are the apostates? The Prophet (S.a.w.w.)

replied, The people of Nahrawan.(People of Nahrawan: those who after the Battle of Siffeen broke their allegiance with the Commander of the Believers (A.s.) and called him adisbeliever. After forcing him to stop the battle and seek intermediaryassistance, they blamed him for listening to them. Ahdul Rahman binMuljam - may Allah (S.w.t.) s curse be on him - the killer of the Commander of the Believers (A.s.), was among them.)

Then the servant of Um Salamah said, You saved me. May Allah (S.w.t.)save you. I will never insult Ali (A.s.) again.

A man came to the Prophet (S.a.w.w.) and said, O Messenger of Allah(S.w.t.)! Someone sailed to China for trading and came back quickly, making so much money that his friends envy him, and he has become verywealthy.

The Messenger of Allah (S.a.w.w.) said, In this life the more wealth youhave, the more troubles you will have. So do not envy the wealthy, exceptthose who spend their wealth in Allahs (S.w.t.) way. But should I tell youabout a person who, with less investment and less time, has made moreprofit, and moreover, his wealth is kept safe under the Throne of Allah(S.w.t.) ?

The people replied, Yes, O Messenger of Allah (S.w.t.) !

The Prophet (S.a.w.w .): said, He is the person who is coming toward us.

So we looked and we saw one of the Ansar who looked rather shabby(approaching us).

The Messenger of Allah (S.a.w.w .) said, This man has earned a rewardand blessing today, and if you were to divide it among all of the inhabitantsof the skies and the earths, the least they would deserve would beforgiveness for their sins and entrance to Paradise.

So the people asked, What did he do today to deserve such a reward? The Prophet (S.a.w.w .) replied, Go and ask him.

The people went to the man and said, Congratulations for the glad tidingsthat the Prophets (S.a.w.w.) has given you. Tell us what you have donetoday.

    The man replied:

I did not do anything. When I left my house this morning, I had a businessaffair that I had to take care of but I was late. I was worried that it was toolate to attend to it, so I thought to myself, Let m e go and look at the face of

Ali bin Abi Taleb (A.s.) instead because I had heard the Messenger of Allah(S.a.w.w .) say, Looking at the face of Ali bin Abi Taleb (A.s.) isworshipping Allah (S.w.t.) .
