26
SAMPLE ANSWER I would choose to be a doctor because it is my childhood ambition. The working place is clean and comfortable, so it must be a place conducive to work. My job involves treating patients, which is my passion. I always have passion for the sick and poor. I hope to treat and help them in any way I can. I will also look smart when I wear the overcoat during my working hours. It is a simple and neat uniform. This job demands a lot of dedication and commitment but I am not afraid of the challenge. Furthermore, I am a very determined person who does not give up easily. Lastly, the pay is high, so it is sufficient for me to take care of my parents as well as my own family in future.

I would go to Grandparents’ house in
Sarawak because it would be nice to
experience a different lifestyle away from
the noisy polluted city and my same old

chance to bathe in the cool river water.
If I do stay there for the upcoming
school holidays, I will go jungle trekking and
who knows I may spot a Rafflesia in the

house. They played happily.
Suddenly, she heard a bell of an ice
cream man.
When she looked out of her
window, there were a few children.
The children were waiting to buy ice
cream. She saw one girl with no
money to buy some.
When they went out to buy
ice cream, they bought one extra.
They gave it to the girl. She was so

Zila and Asiah are good friends.
One day, they played congkak in
Asiah’s house. While busy playing
congkak, they heard a bell jingle
nearby.
Asiah stood up and looked out
of the window to find out the source of
the noise. She then saw some children
buying ice-cream from an ice-cream
man. She also saw a poor girl next to
the children. She did not have any
money to buy an ice-cream.
Out of sympathy, for the poor
girl, Asiah went out of her house and
bought three sticks of ice-cream. She
then gave one to Zila and another one
to the poor girl. The poor girl was
happy and grateful that Asiah had
helped her. She thanked both Asiah
and Zila for their kindness.
Level 2
Last Saturday, Farah went to
Ruwayda’s house. They were very good
friends. When Farah reached the house,
they studied for half an hour and then
started to play congkak. While playing
congkak, they heard the house bell ring.
Being wise girls, Farah and
Ruwayda looked outside through the
window before opening the door. They
saw little children buying ice-cream from
the ice-cream man that came to
Ruwayda’s house in the evenings. But
there was a poor girl about the same
age as the girls who had no money to
buy an ice-cream.
They bought an ice-cream and
gave it to the poor girl. They also
bought ice-creams for themselves. The
girl was very happy and thanked
Ruwayda and Farah.
Level 2
Last Wednesday, Adrini went to her
best friend’s house, Aminah to play
congkak. Both the girls are very honest
with each other. While they were playing
congkak in the living room, Aminah
suddenly heard a bell ringing outside the
house.
Aminah looked out of the window
and saw the ice-cream seller who usually
came to her neighbourhood every day.
She saw many children buying ice-cream.
Aminah spotted a girl standing next to the
ice-cream seller. Aminah pitied her
because she had no money.
Adrini and Aminah decided to buy
ice-cream for themselves and the girl.
They used their pocket money to buy three
ice-creams. Aminah then gave one of the
ice creams to the girl. She was very happy
and thanked them for being kind-hearted.

Level 3
As the two good friends Ina and Mimi played a
challenging game of congkak in Ina’s house, the shrill
sound of the house bell interrupted their game.
When Mimi got up and looked out of the window,
she caught sight of the ice-cream man and his
motorcycle. A few children had already crowded around
him, asking for different varieties of ice-cream. Mimi’s
eyes wandered over to a girl standing at one side. She
was clothed in what seemed to be dirty rags, and it was
obvious that she had no money to buy an ice-cream. Mimi
immediately felt a surge of pity for her. She quickly
beckoned Ina to follow her outside.
Mimi and Ina bought themselves each an ice-cream
and one more for the girl. They made their way to the
solemn looking girl. Mimi handed the extra ice-cream to
her. In a split second, a wide grin spread out on the
girl’s face. She thanked Mimi and Ina quickly, savouring
the taste of her ice-cream. Mimi and Ina felt proud for
helping the girl and then bade her goodbye.
Level 3
One day, Zahira was in the living room playing
congkak with her best friend. Suddenly, a loud bell made
them almost jump out of their skin.
Zahira went to the window and looked out. It was
the ice-cream truck! The ice cream man was there and as
usual, many children were waiting to buy an ice-cream.
Suddenly Zahira caught sight of a girl. She was dressed
in ragged clothes and was looking longingly at the ice-
creams. Zahira then got angry at the ignorance of the
other children about the poor girl. Her heart went out to
her. She then decided to take some money and buy her
an ice-cream.
She bought three ice-creams; one for herself, one
for her friend, and one for the poor girl. The girl was so
happy and thanked Zahira for the ice-cream. Then, the girl
ran back home. The incident took place six weeks ago but
was still clear in her mind and she never regretted
learning the meaning of kindness.
