Procedures for sketching the given profile:

SKETCH EXERCISE 1.1 ADJUSTING RING

1.  Open a new sketch.

2.  Select the front plane.

3.  Select sketch from the toolbar.

4.  Select the front plane and click sketch.

5.  Click line and sketch the x-axis and the y-axis from the origin using centreline

and fix it.

6.  Then click circle from the sketch toolbar, and draw a circle with radius 25mm and

fix it.

7.  Draw another circle with radius 38mm, tick on the circle

option and fix it.

8.  Then draw another circle with radius 58mm and fix it.

9.  Then draw a line 30° from the positive x-axis and tick on

the line option and fix it.

10. Select mirror entities from the sketch toolbar to reflect the line aboutthe y-axis.

11. Click arc from the sketch toolbar and click on the centrepoint arc and

draw with contre on the intersection point between circle with radius 38mm and the line

on the the 3rd quadrant and fix it.

12. Then again use the mirror entities function to reflect the arc about the y-axis.

13. The reflect both arc about the x-axis.

14. Then click arc from the sketch toolbar and click on the tangent arc . Thenmake the tangent arc to join the arc on the 2nd quadrant with the arc on 3rd quadrant and

repeat the same step for 1st and the 4th quadrant and fix it.

15. Lastly complete all the dimension using smart dimention .

1.  Open SolidWorks 2010.

2.  Select New from the File Menu.

3.  Select Part as the New SolidWorks Document from the window.

4.  Click Sketch, select the Front Plane. The selected Front Plane will rotates so it is parallel

to the screen.

5.  Sketch Horizontal and Vertical Centerline.

6.  Click Circle from the sketch toolbar. Sketch a circle centered at the origin. Give diameter

of 3.10mm to the circle.

7.  Repeat the Step 6 with another two circles, the outest one is labelled as For Construction.

8.  Sketch another two circles at the top with dimension stated respectively.

9.  Click Trim Entities to delete part of the circles to produce the figure below.

10. Use tangent arc to link the open end to the circle of diameter 4.5mm.

Hold the Cltrl key, and click the arc and the circle line, and set the relationship to tangent.

11. Select tools-Sketch Tools, and then click Circular Pattern. Set the necessary particular to

duplicate the arc and circle.

12. Use Trim Entities again to clear the unwanted arcs, click in the Smart dimension

and insert necessary dimension and produce the final figure below.

13. Save your work.
