    8.0 Design Flow of Drain (Peak Surface Runoff)

    The design flows of the drains determination basically derived from the Modified RationalMethod formula as follows:-

    Q = C x i x A360

    Where, Q = peak surface runoff (m/s)C = surface runoff coefficienti = rainfall intensity (mm/hr)A = catchments area (ha)

    The runoff coefficient is as follows:-

    Land Use Runoff Coefficient

    Pavement 0.95

    Verges 0.30

    9.0 Drain Sizes Computation

    The drain size computation is calculated based on the Mannings Formula. The procedures areas outlined in Volume 10 of Urban Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia by theDepartment of Irrigation and Drainage, Malaysia (2000).Based on the procedures, the design flow computation and sizes determination are based onthe following formula and the design chart 26.4
