1.0 PENDAHULUAN

Kesemua pelajar Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) adalah DIWAJIBKAN untuk melaksanakan satu Projek Tahun Akhir (PTA) melibatkan pengkhususan pengajian di Pusat Pengajian Kejuruteraan (PPK) masing-masing sebagai memenuhi salah satu daripada kriteria wajib untuk memperolehi Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan. Secara amnya, dalam proses pembelajaran, pelajar telah didedahkan dengan beberapa subjek mengikut PPK masing-masing. Mereka juga telah didedahkan dengan aspek praktikal menerusi latihan makmal yang bercorak ‘lab-intensive’ serta latihan industri (InTra) di luar universiti seperti di industri. Selepas memperolehi pendidikan asas tersebut, pelajar dikehendaki melaksanakan satu projek di mana ianya bertujuan untuk mempertingkatkan lagi pengetahuan dan kemahiran pelajar dalam bidang pengkhususan masing-masing terutama dalam kemahiran mengenalpasti masalah serta mengkaji kaedah penyelesaian bagi sesuatu masalah. Dengan lain perkataan, penglibatan pelajar terhadap PTA ini diharap dapat mendedahkan mereka kepada dunia pekerjaan dan juga penyelidikan.

2.0 Definisi Projek Tahun Akhir (PTA) UniMAP

Projek Tahun Akhir (PTA) ini merupakan satu kajian ilmiah berkaitan dengan pengkhususan di PPK yang WAJIB diambil dan disediakan oleh pelajar tahun akhir sebagai memenuhi salah satu daripada kriteria/syarat utama untuk memperolehi Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan (B. Eng.).

2.1 Matlamat

Matlamat utama PTA ini adalah untuk mendedahkan, mempertingkatkan pengetahuan dan kemahiran pelajar dalam menyelesaikan sesuatu masalah secara kajian akademik bagi melahirkan jurutera mahir di abad ke-21 sejajar dengan Misi dan Visi UniMAP.

2.2 Objektif

Setelah menjalani PTA ini, pelajar dikehendaki menunjukkan:

i. Keupayaan mengolah dan menggunakan pengetahuan akademik serta pengalaman praktikal dalam menjalankan projek akademik.

ii. Kebolehan berfikir secara objektif, analitik dan kritikal dalam mengenalpasti dan mempersembahkan penyelesaian masalah dalam bentuk yang sistematik.

iii. Kebolehan berdikari dalam menjalankan dan menghasilkan projek akademik.

iv. Kebolehan menyampaikan hasil kerja projek akademik secara lisan dan bertulis.

3.0 Jenis Kajian Projek

Tertakluk kepada Pusat Pengajian Kejuruteraan (PPK) masing-masing.

4.0 Jawatankuasa Projek Tahun Akhir

Semua aktiviti yang berkaitan dengan PTA dikendalikan oleh Jawatankuasa Projek Tahun Akhir (JKPTA) yang ditentukan oleh PPK masing-masing. JKPTA ini bertanggungjawab kepada Jawatankuasa Akademik Pusat Pengajian (JAPP). JKPTA ini diketuai oleh Pengerusi Rancangan Program Akademik PPK masing-masing dan dikenali sebagai Penyelaras PTA mengikut program pengajian yang ditawarkan.

4.1 Peranan Jawatankuasa PTA/Penyelaras PTA

JKPTA/Penyelaras PTA berfungsi bagi:

i. Menangani masalah berbangkit yang berkaitan dengan perlaksanaan PTA.

ii. Mengumpul, meneliti, dan meluluskan tajuk-tajuk PTA (dari pensyarah dan dari industri).

iii. Mengeluarkan senarai tajuk-tajuk PTA yang telah diluluskan kepada pelajar dan memastikan kesemua pelajar di bawah program pengajian masing-masing telah mendapat tajuk dan penyelia projek.

iv. Menyediakan Kalender Penyelengaraan PTA pada awal semester pengajian.

v. Memberi taklimat khusus kepada pelajar tahun akhir berkaitan perlaksanaan dan bidang PTA.

vi. Menyediakan jadual pembentangan projek dan memastikan proses tersebut berjalan lancar.

vii. Mengumpul dan menganalisis markah penilaian pelajar daripada penyelia dan penilai.

4.2 Peranan PenyeliaPenyelia PTA adalah terdiri daripada pensyarah. Peranan dan tanggungjawab penyelia adalah seperti berikut:

i. Memberi bimbingan dan nasihat kepada pelajar berkenaan perkara-perkara yang berkaitan dengan PTA ke arah mencapai objektif dan skop yang telah ditetapkan.

ii. Membantu pelajar dalam membuat perancangan projek bersesuaian dengan jenis projek yang mereka laksanakan.

iii. Mengawasi segala perkembangan projek dan menilai hasil projek yang dijalankan oleh pelajar dari semasa ke semasa, sehinggalah penyerahan laporan berjilid.

iv. Mengadakan pertemuan dan perbincangan dengan pelajar serta menyemak dan mengesahkan rumusan kemajuan projek pelajar (menandatangani pada ruang yang disediakan – Buku Log) sekurang-kurangnya ENAM (6) kali/semester.

v. Membimbing dan menasihati pelajar cara-cara penulisan laporan bersesuaian dengan bentuk projek yang dilaksanakan oleh pelajar tersebut. Penulisan laporan perlu berdasarkan format dan piawaian penulisan yang telah ditetapkan oleh pihak universiti – Panduan Penyediaan Laporan PTA UniMAP.

vi. Membuat penilaian terhadap pelajar berdasarkan laporan kemajuan projek dan laporan projek pada tarikh/masa yang telah ditetapkan.

vii. Menghadiri pembentangan projek pelajar.

viii. Menyemak laporan sebelum penjilidan dan memastikan pelajar telah membuat pembetulan seperti yang dikehendaki.

ix. Mematuhi tarikh penyelenggaraan projek seperti yang telah ditetapkan oleh Penyelaras PTA.

Penyelia perlu mengisi Borang Penyeliaan Projek Tahun Akhir (rujuk LAMPIRAN B(i)) bagi merekodkan jumlah projek yang diselia dan menghantar borang tersebut kepada Penyelaras PTA PPK masing-masing.

4.3 Peranan Pembantu PenyeliaPembantu Penyelia adalah terdiri daripada Pensyarah atau Pegawai Latihan Vokasional (PLV). Peranan Pembantu Penyelia adalah seperti berikut: -

i. Membantu Penyelia utama dalam hal-hal berkaitan dengan PTA.

ii. Memberi bantuan kepada pelajar berkenaan perkara-perkara yang berkaitan dengan PTA ke arah mencapai objektif dan skop yang telah ditetapkan.

iii. Mengadakan pertemuan dan perbincangan dengan pelajar serta menyemak dan mengesahkan rumusan kemajuan projek pelajar (menandatangani pada ruang yang disediakan – Buku Log).

iv. Menghadiri pembentangan projek pelajar.

4.4 Peranan Penilai

Penilai dalaman PTA boleh ditetapkan oleh Penyelaras PTA atau ditentukan oleh penyelia projek tersebut – penilai perlulah diambil dikalangan pensyarah yang mempunyai bidang penyelidikan/akademik yang sama atau hampir sama dengan PTA. Penilai dalaman PTA tidak terikat kepada pensyarah di PPK tersebut sahaja tetapi boleh diambil daripada PPK lain (bergantung kepada jenis projek yang dijalankan). Tanggungjawab Penilai adalah seperti berikut:

i. Membaca laporan dan membuat penilaian terhadap hasil projek pelajar.

ii. Menghadiri dan menilai pembentangan projek pelajar.

iii. Memberi komen dan cadangan penambahbaikan projek pelajar.

iv. Memastikan pelajar melakukan pembetulan laporan selepas sesi pembentangan projek berdasarkan cadangan yang diberikan oleh panel penilai.

5.0 Pendaftaran PTA

PTA dilaksanakan dalam tempoh DUA (2) semester di mana pelajar mendaftar kod kursus PTA pada semester pertama sebanyak 6 kredit dan akan di bawa ke semester kedua untuk pengiraan PNG. Status projek semester pertama adalah ‘Tidak Lengkap’ (TL) dan penilaian keseluruhan diadakan pada akhir semester kedua.

5.1 Pertukaran Tajuk Projek/Penyelia Projek

Pelajar yang sedang/telah menjalankan PTA tetapi ingin menukar tajuk projek/penyelia projek, perlu mendapat kelulusan daripada Penyelaras PTA. Prosedur bagi pertukaran tajuk projek/penyelia projek adalah seperti berikut:

i. Pelajar berbincang dengan penyelia.ii. Pelajar perlu mengisi borang pertukaran tajuk projek/penyelia projek (rujuk

LAMPIRAN B(ii) ) dan menghantar borang tersebut kepada Penyelaras PTA.iii. Kelulusan permohonan akan diputuskan oleh Penyelaras PTA.

6.0 Perlaksanaan Projek Tahun Akhir

Perlaksanaan PTA memerlukan pelajar menjalankan projek secara individu dan diselia sekurang-kurangnya oleh seorang pensyarah dan dibantu oleh pensyarah lain atau Pegawai Latihan Vokasional (PLV) – penyelia bersama (setiap PTA hanya memerlukan seorang penyelia utama – penyelia kedua bergantung kepada jenis projek – tidak diwajibkan kesemua PTA mempunyai penyelia utama dan penyelia bersama).

Pelajar dikehendaki menjalankan projek sekurang-kurangnya 270 jam sepanjang dua semester (rujuk LAMPIRAN C) (hal ini bergantung kepada jenis projek yang dijalankan khusus kepada PPK masing-masing). Walaupun projek ini yang memberi pengkhususan kepada bidang PPK masing-masing, tetapi projek yang bercorak ‘cross-discipline’ dengan PPK adalah dibenarkan.

6.1 Cadangan Tajuk Projek

Setiap pelajar dibenarkan memilih SATU (1) tajuk projek yang dicadangkan oleh pensyarah PPK mengikut pengkhususan pilihan masing-masing. Walaubagaimanapun, pelajar dibenar mengemukan tajuk projek sendiri dan projek dari industri (projek InTra). Projek dari industri amatlah digalakkan (projek berkenaan mestilah sesuai dengan kemudahan yang dimiliki di makmal-makmal UniMAP). Pelajar yang mengemukan tajuk sendiri atau tajuk industri boleh berbincang dengan pensyarah/penyelaras PTA untuk penyeliaan projek tersebut.

Senarai tajuk projek dari pensyarah boleh diperolehi melalui hebahan di PPK masing-masing. Pelajar yang berminat boleh berbincang dan mendapat persetujuan daripada pensyarah berkenaan.

6.2 Sistem Penilaian Projek

Sistem penilaian PTA terbahagi kepada TIGA (3) elemen utama iaitu:i. Pengurusan Projek (30%)ii. Laporan Projek (50%), daniii. Pembentangan Projek (20%)

(Rujuk LAMPIRAN D). Walaupun pengiraan jam kredit PTA dinilai pada Semester II, namun penilaian pengurusan projek/kemajuan projek dilakukan pada kedua-dua semester iaitu Semester I iaitu sebanyak 10% dan Semester II sebanyak 20%. Penilaian laporan dan pembentangan PTA dijalankan oleh DUA (2) penilai dalaman. Penyelia PTA tidak menilai pelajar pada sesi pembentangan akhir. Penilaian laporan PTA adalah berdasarkan draf PTA terakhir yang diserahkan oleh pelajar kepada penyelia.

Secara amnya, peratusan penilaian PTA adalah: 60 % - penyelia utama, dan 40 % - penilai dalaman.

(Rujuk LAMPIRAN E – borang-borang penilaian PTA)Satu sesi pembentangan kemajuan PTA akan diadakan di akhir Semester I dan ianya dinilai di dalam slot Pengurusan Projek Semester I. Sesi pembentangan ini adalah WAJIB bagi setiap

pelajar yang menjalankan PTA. Kegagalan pelajar untuk membentangkan kemajuan projek akan menyebabkan mereka diberikan gred GAGAL (F) untuk keseluruhan Pengurusan Projek Semester I. Namun ianya bergantung kepada budi bicara PPK masing-masing.

Pelajar DIWAJIBKAN memenuhi KETIGA-TIGA elemen penilaian di atas. Pelajar akan diberikan gred GAGAL (F) penilaian keseluruhan PTA jika tidak memenuhi salah satu daripada elemen-elemen tersebut. Namun hal ini bergantung kepada budi bicara JKPTA PPK masing-masing.

6.3 Laporan Kemajuan Projek (Buku Log)

Sepanjang perlaksanaan PTA, pelajar perlu mengemukakan perkembangan dan rumusan kemajuan projek pada setiap kali pertemuan dengan penyelia masing-masing. Bilangan pertemuan yang ditetapkan adalah sekurang-kurangnya ENAM (6) kali per-semester. Pelajar perlu membawa bersama Buku Log pada setiap kali sesi perjumpaan bersama penyelia. Format Buku Log adalah seperti yang terdapat pada dokumen seperti di LAMPIRAN F. Antara perkara-perkara yang dinilai dalam buku log adalah:

i. Pencapaian pelajar berdasarkan carta ganttii. Prestasi perlaksanaan projekiii. Perkembangan intelek/sahsiah pelajar

6.4 Format Penulisan Laporan

Penulisan laporan PTA boleh dibuat dalam Bahasa Inggeris atau Bahasa Malaysia. Pelajar digalakan untuk menulis laporan PTA dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Namun ia tertakluk kepada keputusan penyelia projek. Pelajar MESTI mengikut Panduan Penyediaan Laporan PTA dalam proses penulisan PTA (rujuk LAMPIRAN G).

6.5 Pembetulan Laporan/Hasil Projek

Pembetulan dan pembaikan ke atas laporan dan juga hasil projek (jika berkenaan) perlu dibuat oleh pelajar sebagaimana yang dikehendaki oleh penyelia/penilai. Pelajar dikehendaki berbincang dengan penyelia/penilai berkenaan pembetulan yang harus dilakukan. Pelajar yang tidak menghantar laporan projek yang telah diperbaiki pada tarikh yang ditetapkan akan dianggap gagal menyempurnakan projek mereka dan akan diberikan keputusan GAGAL (F). Namun hal ini bergantung kepada budi bicara JKPTA PPK masing-masing.

Sekiranya pembetulan melibatkan perubahan yang besar dan memerlukan pembaikan projek, pelajar akan diberi tempoh maksimun SATU (1) bulan (tertakluk kepada kalender akademik UniMAP) untuk menyiapkan projek mereka. Selepas tempoh tersebut, pelajar akan dinilai semula berdasarkan pembaikan yang telah dibuat. Walaubagaimanapun gred maksimum yang akan diberikan adalah Gred C. Namun hal ini bergantung kepada budi bicara JKPTA PPK masing-masing.

6.6 Penyerahan Laporan

Setelah pelajar membentangkan PTA dan sekiranya tiada/sudah melakukan pembetulan ke atas laporan projek dan hasil projek, mereka perlu menyerahkan SATU (1) laporan berjilid (berkulit keras) dan DUA (2) laporan ‘softcopy’ dalam bentuk cakera padat (CD) kepada penyelia projek masing-masing untuk dibawa ke peringkat PPK. Keputusan muktamad adalah di peringkat PPK. Syarat bagi membolehkan seseorang pelajar telah selesai dan mendapat kredit di bawah pengendalian PTA:

i. Semua elemen penilaian (tiga elemen iaitu pengurusan projek, laporan projek dan pembentangan projek) mesti dijalani sepenuhnya oleh pelajar.

ii. Pelajar perlu membetulkan laporan projek sebagaimana dikehendaki oleh penyelia dan penilai.

Pelajar bertanggungjawab sepenuhnya ke atas projek masing-masing. Laporan akhir berjilid serta hasilnya adalah milik Universiti.

6.7 Bajet Projek

Bajet PTA (bagi projek yang memerlukan pembeliaan) adalah menggunakan vot PPK masing-masing. Walaubagaimanapun, penyelia yang mempunyai geran penyelidikan, mereka digalakkan untuk mengunakan vot geran tersebut bagi tujuan kos Projek Tahun Akhir.

8.0 Hak Cipta

Hasil PTA yang dihasilkan oleh pelajar adalah tertakluk kepada akta hak cipta di mana:

I. Segala penemuan baru, rekabentuk atau paten adalah hak milik Universiti. Walau bagaimanapun Universiti boleh menimbangkan permohonan untuk berkongsi hak milik dari penyelidik (pelajar) dan atau penganjur luar.

II. Hak cipta penulisan laporan adalah kepunyaan penulis.III. Segala hal yang berkaitan dengan hak cipta adalah mengikut peraturan hak cipta

yang telah ditetapkan oleh Universiti.

9.0 Penutup

Dokumen ini telah menjelaskan berkenaan dengan pengurusan dan perlaksanaan PTA UniMAP. Ianya menjurus kepada Polisi Kesatuan Pengurusan dan Pelaksanaan PTA UniMAP. Dokumen ini dapat membantu pelajar dan pensyarah untuk mengurus dan melaksanakan PTA bagi kursus Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan di UniMAP. Dengan adanya dokumen ini, pihak PPK dapat meningkatkan kualiti pengurusan dan perlaksanaan PTA.

1.0 Introduction

As part of the criteria to obtain their Bachelor’s degree in engineering, it is COMPULSORY for all students of the Universiti Malaysia Perlis to carry out a Final Year Project (FYP) with respect to their academic center’s area of specialization. In general, as part of the learning process, students have been exposed to some courses within their respective academic centre. They are also exposed to practical aspect through intensive laboratory training and extensive industrial attachment. After receiving such foundational studies, students are required to complete a project meant to enhance their knowledge and competency with respect to their field of specialization,

with special emphasis on honing their ability to identify problems and solving them. In other words, their involvement in carrying out the FYP is meant to prepare them for their work life and research activities.

2.0 Definition of the Final Year Project (FYP)

The FYP is an academic research germane to their academic center’s area of specialization and it is COMPULSORY for final year students to undertake and complete a project as part of the requirement to obtain the bachelor’s degree in engineering.

2.1 Aim

The main aim of the FYP is to expose and to enhance student’s knowledge and competency in solving a problem through academic research in order to produce competent engineers/ technologists in the 21st century in line with UniMAP’s Mission and Vision.

2.2 Objectives

After completing the FYP, students are required to show the ability to:

i. modulate and utilize academic knowledge and practical experience in conducting an academic project

ii. think objectively, analytically and critically in identifying and solving problems in a systematic manner

iii. work independently in conducting and completing an academic projectiv. present the final results orally and graphically

3.0 Types of Projects

Subject to the respective school.

4.0 Final Year Project Committee (FYPC)/FYP Coordinator

All activities related to the FYP will be handled by the Final Year Project Committee (FYPC) as determined by the respective academic centers. The FYPC is responsible to the Faculty’s Academic Committee.

4.1 FYPC/FYP Coordinator Duties

Its duties are to:

i. Handle problems which accrue from the implementation of the FYP.ii. Collect, scrutinize, and approve FYP topics.iii. Display FYP topics which have been approved.iv. Prepare FYP Schedule of Implementation at the beginning of the semester.v. Conduct a special briefing session for final year students with regard to the

implementation of the FYP.vi. Prepare letters of appointment for supervisors to be kept by the supervisors and

academic centers.vii. Prepare a schedule for project presentation and to ensure the smooth running of

the project.viii. Collect and analyze the marks meted out by supervisors and examiners.

Supervisors need to fill up the FYP supervision form (see APPENDIX B(i)) in order to record and keep track of number of projects supervised. The form must be sent to the FYP coordinator of their respective Schools.

4.2 Roles of the Supervisor

They are as delineated below:

i. To guide and advise students with regard to the FYP in achieving the specified objectives and scope.

ii. Assist students in preparing a proper plan for their projects.

iii. Monitor all developments of the project and evaluate the results from time to time up through the submission of the bound report.

iv. Meet and discuss with students their projects and verify progress made (by signing on the appropriate columns – Log Book) at least once in two weeks.

v. Guide and advice students on the proper ways of writing the report based on the project they are working on. The report write-up must be based on the standard and format stipulated by the university.

vi. Evaluate students based on their project progress report, presentation and project report at the specified time and place.

vii. Attend presentation of students’ project report.

viii. Read through the reports before they are bound and ensure that students have made the proper corrections.

ix. Adhere to the project’s schedule of implementation as specified

4.3 Roles of Co-Supervisor

Their roles are as specified below:

i. Assist main supervisor with regards to FYP matters.

ii. To guide students with regard to FYP in achieving the specified objectives and scope.

iii. Meet and discuss with students about their projects and verify the progress (by signing on the appropriate columns) at least once in two weeks.

iv. Attend presentation of students’ project report.

4.5 Roles of the Evaluator

Their roles are as specified below:

i. Read the reports and evaluate them.

ii. Attend and evaluate presentation of students’ project report.

iii. Give comments and ideas on improving students’ project to be recorded by the chairperson at the end of every presentation.

iv. Ensure students make the proper corrections after the presentation session based on ideas and comments made by the evaluators

5.0 FYP Registration

The FYP is implemented over a TWO (2)-semester period where a student registers the FYP course code in the first semester for 6 CREDITS and will carry it through the second semester for GPA calculation. The status of the first-semester project is INCOMPLETE (TL) and the overall assessment will be done at the end of the second semester.

5.1 Changing a Project Topic/Project Supervisor

A student who wishes to change a topic for the project which has been approved earlier needs to gain approval from the FYPC. This needs to be done before the FYP can be carried out. Procedure for changing a project topic/project supervisor as follows:

i. The student will discuss with his/her supervisor.ii. The student needs to fill the FYP’s change title/supervisor form (see APPENDIX

B(ii)) and send it to the FYPC.iii. The FYPC will decide the approval of the new topic/supervisor.

6.0 FYP Implementation

The FYP requires students to work individually and comes under the supervision of at least one lecturer assisted by a Teaching Engineer (PLV). Students are required to carry out the project for at least 270 hours within two semesters (see APPENDIX C) (this is dependant on the type of project with respect to their school). Even though a project is discipline-centered, cross disciplinary topics are allowed.

6.1 FYP Topic Proposal

Students are allowed to choose ONE (1) topic proposed by lecturers from their respective academic centers. The list of topics can be accessed from UniMAP Portal. Interested students can discuss and get the approval from the respective lecturers. However, final-year students who have undergone industrial training can submit a topic from the industry to be carried out at the academic center (the project must be suitable with facilities available at UniMAP’s laboratories). For students who proposed a topic from the industry, the FYPC will evaluate the topic and will instruct a lecturer familiar with the field to discuss with the students involved.

6.2 Project Assessment System

Project Assessment System is divided to THREE main elements: i. Project Management (30%)ii. Project Report (50%), andiii. Project Presentation (20%)

(see APPENDIX D). Although the evaluation credits-hours for the FYP commences on second semester, however, project management/progress evaluation is executed in both Semester I at 10% and Semester II at 20%. The project report and presentation will be evaluated by TWO (2) internal examiners. The project report evaluation is based on the final draft submitted by students to their respective supervisors.

Generally, the FYP evaluation percentage is as follows: 60 % - supervisor and 40 % - internal examiner.

A FYP progress presentation will be held at the end of the Semester I and will be evaluated under the Semester I Project Management slot. This presentation is compulsory for all students undertaking the FYP. Failure of students to present their progress in this section will result in a FAIL for the entire Semester I Project Management . However, this depends on the discretion of the respective schools.

It is compulsory for students to full fill all THREEE (3) elements of evaluation, delineated above. Failure to satisfy any one of those elements will result in students being given FAIL (F) grade. However, as before, this depends on the discretion of the respective school’s FYPC.

6.3 Project Progress Report (Log Book)

During the course of the FYP, students are required to submit reports on the progress and conclusions on the project each time they meet with their supervisors. The stipulated number of times students consult with their lecturers per semester is SIX (6). Students are required to bring along the log book each time they meet their lecturers. The format of the log book is as shown in APPENDIX F. Some of the points assessed in the log book are:

i. students’ progress based on the Gantt Chartii. project implementation performanceiii. students’ intellectual/character development

6.4 Report Format

The report can be written in either English or Bahasa Malaysia. Students are encouraged to write in English. However, this is subject to approval from the supervisor. Please refer to APPENDIX G.

6.5 Project Report/ Product Rectification

Correction and enhancement to project report and product (if applicable) have to be made by students as required by the presentation committee chairperson /supervisor/ assessor. Comments meted out by them for rectification purposes need to be given to students as soon as they have finished presenting their project to the supervisor and assessor. Students are required to discuss with the chairperson of the presentation committee/ supervisor/ assessor as per rectification that need to be done. Those who do not submit the rectified project report by the stipulated deadline will be considered to have failed to complete their project and thus will be given the grade FAILED (F).

If massive correction is needed and the project requires major revamp students will be given a maximum period of one month (subject to UniMAP’s academic calendar) to complete their project. Henceforth, students will be reevaluated based on the corrections done. However, the

maximum grade which can be given is a C. However, this depends on the discretion of the respective school’s FYPC.

6.6 Report Submission

After students have presented their FYP and if there is no correction/ or correction has been made to the report and project product, they need to submit ONE (1) bound copy and TWO (2) softcopy format in CD to the FYPC to be forwarded to the academic center. The final verdict will be decided at the academic center. In order for students to be considered finished and can be granted credit under the FYP program they need to fulfill the following:

i. All elements of evaluation must be completely undertaken by students ii. Students need to make corrections to project report and its content (if

applicable).

Students are fully responsible for their project. Bound copies of final reports and their contents are properties of UniMAP

6.7 FYP Budget

The FYP budget (for projects that require purchases) is derived from the respective School’s. However, supervisors with research grants are encouraged to use their research grant vots for the purpose of FYP purchase costs.

FYP produced by students come under the copyright acts whereby:

i. All new findings, inventions or patents are properties of the University.However, the University reserves the right to consider applications to share copyright with outside researchers or promoters.

ii. Copyright of the written reports belong to the studentsiii. All copyright matters are bound by regulations stipulated by the University.

9.0 Conclusion

This document sets forth the terms and conditions for the implementation of the FYP. The FYPC hopes that this document can be used by students and lecturers to manage and implement the FYP for the degree Bachelor of Engineering at UniMAP. With this document, the academic centers will be able to enhance the quality of the management and implementation of the FYP.
