26

SAMPLE ANSWER I would choose to be a doctor because it is my childhood ambition. The working place is clean and comfortable, so it must be a place conducive to work. My job involves treating patients, which is my passion. I always have passion for the sick and poor. I hope to treat and help them in any way I can. I will also look smart when I wear the overcoat during my working hours. It is a simple and neat uniform. This job demands a lot of dedication and commitment but I am not afraid of the challenge. Furthermore, I am a very determined person who does not give up easily. Lastly, the pay is high, so it is sufficient for me to take care of my parents as well as my own family in future.

Sample Reasons (with targeted marks)

Passing Mark

Level 1

I would go to Grandparents’

house because the place is

Sarawak. The type of house is a

longhouse. The location is near

the river. The activities are jungle

trekking and collecting fruits

from the orchard.

Level 3 (1)

I would go to an aunt’s house

because I have never been to an

aunt’s house before. My aunt is

staying in Pulau Pinang. Her

house is an apartment in the city.

I want to learn more about Pulau

Pinang.

I can play computer games

with my cousins as I love to play

computer games.

I can also swim in the pool

with my cousins as I want to

learn swimming. My aunt can

teach me how to swim as she is a

swimming champion. I think this

is the best place for me.

Level 3 (2)

I would go to Grandparents’ house in

Sarawak because it would be nice to

experience a different lifestyle away from

the noisy polluted city and my same old

routine.

My caring grandparents reside in a

wooden longhouse near the river. Therefore

I hope to meet many people and also get a

chance to bathe in the cool river water.

If I do stay there for the upcoming

school holidays, I will go jungle trekking and

who knows I may spot a Rafflesia in the

jungle.

I also hope to collect fruits from an

orchard. I have been told that it is not easy

to collect fruits from an orchard but very

rewarding because I can then enjoy the

juicy fruits.

Level 2

I would go to Grandparents’

house in Sarawak because I can

sleep in the longhouse. I can

swim in the river. I can go jungle

trekking. I can eat the fruits.

Syikin comes from a very poor family. Her father is a fisherman and her mother is a housewife. Her family has

difficulties to make ends meet. Despite all these hardships, she never gives up on her study because she is a very

determined and diligent girl. She scored 5A’s in the UPSR examination. She was also selected as the best pupil at the

national level.

Her parents were very happy and proud of her achievement. They knew she would have a better future than

them. The teachers at Syikin’s school were happy and proud that she had brought recognition to the school.

Everyone who knew her congratulated her success.

At a special ceremony, the state government presented Syikin with a laptop and RM1000 for her outstanding

achievement. She was also offered a scholarship to continue her education. A top boarding school in the country

had accepted her.

Syikin was grateful to God that her hard work had brought success. Her parents did not need to worry about

her future any more. She realised that one will succeed in life if one does not give up easily, just like the saying “If

immediately felt a surge of pity for her. She quickly

beckoned Ina to follow her outside.

Mimi and Ina bought themselves each an ice-cream

usual, many children were waiting to buy an ice-cream.

Suddenly Zahira caught sight of a girl. She was dressed

in ragged clothes and was looking longingly at the ice-

creams. Zahira then got angry at the ignorance of the

other children about the poor girl. Her heart went out to

her. She then decided to take some money and buy her

an ice-cream.
