DOCUMENTATION OF ENGLISH CLUB FIELD TRIP TO MIRI PUBLIC LIBRARY1. NAME OF THE PROGRAMMEEnglish Club Field Trip to Miri Public Library at Dewan Suarah, Miri2. RATIONAL OF THE PROGRAMMEEnglish Club is one of the co-curriculum clubs at SK Agama (MIS) Miri. This club is to help the pupils in improving their pronunciation skills in English Language proficiency and pupils writing skills. It also helps to generate their knowledge and giving them an opportunity to learn and grow their interest in reading English Language. At the same time, we can expose our pupils in reading. Reading is interesting and encouraging. 3. BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAMMEThe existence of a study visit is to assess and improve the opportunities for pupils to learn English in different situations in the classroom. It is a continuous activities and not just for once. The school is always supporting all kinds of activities or programs that leads success especially to achieve the High Performance Schools (SBT) award as our vision in 2015.4. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMMEa. To Increase the chances of pupils to learn and communicate in English in situations outside the classroom.b. To bring awareness to all the students that English is an important subject not only in primary school, even university level and internationally.c. To create awareness among students that communicating in English is possible in many situations.d. To encourage students to learn English.e. To increase opportunities in English.

5. IMPACT OF THE PROGRAMMEAll pupils can experience the opportunity to communicate in English. They learn to be independent and to improve their knowledge in the use of English. Teachers are guiding the pupils at the beginning and the rest of the pupils to train themselves. We want all pupils to be involved in a daring and skilled leader to speak in public. Given these activities, we believe that all pupils involved may be more brilliant. For the teachers involved, this is a good opportunity to learn how to improve the academic and co-curricular activities of students in English. Eventually we will have pupils who love to learn English, and since English is not a difficult subject to study.6. IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIESCOMMITTEE MEMBERSAdvisor

10. RELFECTION

STRENGTH OF THE PROGRAMME

a) The officers of the Miri Public Library were well prepared and pupils enjoyed listening their stories at the story booth.b) The officers prepared activities e.g. cutting and pasting to describe about the picture in the magazine / newspapers. Pupils are able to take part the activities enjoying themselves together.

c) The officers in charged shared many good inputs where we encourage all of the pupils to join the members of the library. This is to encourage them to read more books ahead.

WEAKNESS OF THE PROGRAMME

a) The time frame of two hours are quite packed as they are preparing lots of interesting activities.b) Some pupils didnt turn up because of heavy rain and some Year 6 pupils were unable to attend in the last minute as they were just completing their UPSR examination (Mathematics Paper).

c) Some parents were late fetching back their child so the teachers needed to wait for the pupils. Pupils safety is important for us.

FUTURE IMPROVEMENT

a) We should look back at the time management. We need to adjust properly and make sure everyone benefits the trip.b) At first, we knew that UPSR examination (Mathematics Paper) ended by 10am. We thought that they would join us but only a few took part in the trip. In the future, we can invite other pupils to replace them if they really cannot make it.

c) In the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) meeting, we need to remind their parents to fetch their children on time as we focus on the pupils safety in every programmes. 11. CONCLUSIONThis program helps all pupils and teachers involved to explore and have the opportunity to learn English outside the classroom and school. It can boost our morale in the academic and extra-curricular activities. It encourages us to build confidence and a new experience for the excellence of the school and it geared towards a national award of High Performing Schools. For the pupils involved, this is a significant opportunity for them to see and understand the importance of the subject of English in their daily lives. At the same time, we as teachers in the teaching profession are able to build a successful and achieve its objectives, mission and aspirations of the Malaysian education system, especially in the Philosophy of Education (FPK).APPENDIX 1
