What is the da Vinci Surgical System

The da Vinci Surgical System is a state-of-the-art surgical platform which consists of anergonomically designed surgeon's console, a patient cart with four interactive robotic arms, a

high-performance vision System and patentedEndoWristinstruments. By overcoming the

challenges of traditional open surgery, the da Vinci Surgical System allows our surgeonsgreater precision, dexterity and control, while only requiring 1-2 cm incisions.

How does the da Vinci Surgical System work

At the da Vinci console, our surgeon operates while seated comfortably, viewing a highlymagnified 3D image of the bodys interior. To operate, our surgeon uses master controls that

work like forceps.

As our surgeon manipulates the controls, da Vinci responds to the surgeons input in real time,

translating his hand, wrist and finger movements into precise movements of miniaturized

instruments at the patient-side cart.

The da Vincipatient cart holds up to threeEndoWristinstruments and one 3D camera. To

access the target anatomy, our surgeon introduces the precisely controlledEndoWristinstruments

into the body through a series of dime-sized incisions. A broad range of instrument types are

available to help our surgeon perform specialized surgical tasks with precision and control.
